Update: Dense fog advisory in place for Delta until Friday midday – 1/4 mile visibility

A dense fog advisory has been issued for the Carquinez Strait and Delta, covering a significant portion of the Central Sacramento Valley, Southern Sacramento Valley, and Northern San Joaquin Valley. The warning is valid until midday on Friday, January 23.

Under these conditions, visibility will be severely reduced to just one quarter mile or less due to dense fog, posing serious risks to drivers. According to the National Weather Service (NWS), low visibility can make driving hazardous, and motorists are advised to exercise extreme caution on the roads.

If you must drive in such conditions, consider taking extra precautions to ensure your safety. Here are some essential tips from the NWS:

Slow down: Allot more time for your journey to avoid accidents.
Use low-beam headlights: Ensure visibility to other drivers by using these lights, which also activate taillights if available.
Avoid high beams: High beams can create glare that impairs visibility on the road.
Maintain a safe distance: Leave plenty of space between you and the vehicle in front to account for unexpected stops or changes in traffic patterns.
Stay in your lane: Follow lane markings as a guide to stay within the correct lane.

In extreme fog conditions, activate hazard lights immediately and seek a secure location, such as a nearby parking lot. If no such spot is available, pull over to the side of the road as far as possible, turn off all other lights except for hazard flashing lights, engage the emergency brake, and take your foot off the brake pedal.

By adhering to these guidelines, you can minimize the risks associated with driving in dense fog and prioritize your safety.

Ugh, can u believe this fog advisory?! 😩 It's like, mid-January already and we're still stuck with this crazy weather! 🤯 I'm so done with driving on these streets, visibility is literally zero out here... just one quarter mile?! No way! How am I supposed to see the road? 🚗💡 Slow down, use low-beam headlights, avoid high beams... come on, NWS, make it easy for us! 😂 And what's with all these tips? Can't we just have a good ol' fashioned fog-free day?! 🌫️😒

🌫️ this is super crazy weather alert right now... gotta say, got my concerns about people trying to drive around like it's no big deal 😬 i mean, visibility is literally zero - how r u even supposed to see what's gonna hit u? 🚗💥 slow down and use low-beams, duh! 🤦‍♀️ we should all be taking this fog seriously. and yeah, those tips from the NWS are a must - don't wanna be that person who gets stuck in an accident cuz they weren't paying attention 😳 pull over and stay safe, ppl! 🚨

🚨 just got out of bed and saw this weather update 😵 anyone else planning on venturing out today? i'm definitely not taking any chances, staying cozy indoors with a warm cuppa 🍵🧘‍♀️ these fog advisory tips are super helpful btw! slow down, use low beams, and stay in your lane 🚗💨 gotta respect the road and prioritize safety 💕

Ugh, I hate driving in the morning 🚗😓, especially when there's a fog advisory out like this! The thought of being stuck behind a car that won't go away because it's too slow to see what's ahead of me is super stressful 🤯. But, you're right, we gotta be careful and take those extra precautions, like using low beams and leaving plenty of space between us 🚗🔦. It's like when Marty McFly was trying to get to Hill Valley in Back to the Future – he had to navigate through that crazy foggy future stuff! Anyway, stay safe out there, everyone! ☁️

🌨️ ugh I'm so done with this time of year already, dense fog is like a nightmare for drivers. it's not just about having visibility reduced to almost nothing, but also the fact that cars are going to be slow as snails on roads anyway. slow down, yeah yeah, good luck with that... 😒

🌫️ I'm not a fan of driving during this thick fog 🙅‍♂️. I think it's already bad enough without adding stress and risk on top 😬. Anyone who says they love cruising through the night is just crazy 😂! Anyway, if you must drive, slow down for sure ⏱️. Using low beams is a must too 🔦 - those high beams can be super harsh 🤯. And please, don't overthink it... just stay in your lane and pull over if you need to 🚗. That's my 2 cents! Here's a simple flowchart:

```
+---------------+
| Drive Slowly |
+---------------+
|
|
v
+---------------+
| Use Low Beams |
Remember, safety first! 😊
🚨💡 This fog advisory is giving me major anxiety! I'm planning to drive through the Central Sacramento Valley today and I don't want to risk getting stuck or worse 😱. The tips from the NWS are super helpful, especially about using low-beam headlights - I had no idea that was a thing 🤷‍♀️.
I've lived in this area for years and fog is something we're used to, but it's still so unforgiving! It's like driving through a different world. The NWS is right, slow down and take your time, don't try to push through if you can see the signs of reduced visibility 🚫.
I'm definitely going to be taking extra precautions today - maybe I'll even consider leaving my car at home if it's really that bad 😅. On a serious note though, these guidelines are super important and should be shared far and wide with everyone who plans on driving in these conditions 💡.
🚨💡 Ugh, another one of these foggy mornings ruining my commute 🤦‍♂️. I swear, how many times have we been told to slow down and use low-beam headlights already? It's not like it's that hard to remember... 😒 Can't they just add a "Don't be a numpty" option to the weather alert system? 🙄 On a more serious note, these tips are spot on. I do wish there was some kind of real-time fog radar or something, would make driving so much safer 💡.
Ugh, I hate driving in this kind of weather 😩! One quarter mile visibility is just crazy low, you know? I've seen people struggling to see more than a few feet in front of them and it's like, no way, man! We need better roads and better safety features on our cars. Like, have you ever had to slam on the brakes because someone was driving right into your path? It's super sketchy 🙅‍♂️. I'm all for taking extra precautions and slowing down, but it's just not fair when you're already dealing with this much fog 😔.
ugh, foggy days are just so gloomy 🌨️ ugh... remember when we didn't have all those fancy GPS devices and apps guiding us through roads? it was like a real-life adventure, trying to navigate through thick fog while relying on maps and instincts... those were the days! 😒 now we're stuck with these super smart cars that can drive themselves, but still can't handle a little bit of fog 🤷‍♂️
Ugh, another day, another foggy mess 🌫️😩. I swear, can we just have a clear sky for once? It's like the world is just one big, grey blanket of "oh no, you're going to get lost in the fog" 🤯. But hey, at least we've got some good old-fashioned driving tips from the NWS, right? Slow down, use low-beams, don't be a hero... you know, the usual 💡.
You know what's weird though? I was just thinking about how much I loved driving on foggy nights back in the day 🚗💨. There's something so nostalgic about cruising around with your wipers on and the headlights going all dimly lit 🔦. But, I guess that's just me being old-school 😜.
Anyway, just take it easy out there, folks! If you've got to drive, be careful, and if not, why don't you just stay inside and have a cup of hot cocoa instead? 🍫👌
Ugh, this is so scary 🤯! Driving in the dark with zero visibility? No thanks! 😨 I'd rather be stuck at home with a cuppa ☕️. Can't we just get some decent weather for once?! 😡 The thought of being stuck on the road with no idea where I'm going or what's ahead is giving me anxiety 🤯. Just slow down and use your low beams, duh! 😒 Make it through this foggy mess without losing your cool 💥.
I don't think it's fair to say that the NWS is scaring people by issuing a fog advisory 🤷‍♂️. I mean, we all know how bad fog can be for visibility, right? It's just common sense to slow down or even consider not driving altogether if you're not necessary to get somewhere ⏰. The tips they gave are super reasonable too - like using low beams and maintaining a safe distance from the car in front... it's not rocket science 💡! And yeah, activating hazard lights is a pretty good idea when visibility is basically zero 🔦. But let's be real, some people might still try to push through even with the warning 🙄. I'm just saying, it's all about being responsible and looking out for ourselves... no need to freak out 😅!
Foggy conditions are getting super scary! 🚨😷 I'm not surprised they issued a dense fog advisory for that area - it's been pretty chilly lately and the weather forecast isn't looking great for the rest of the week either ❄️. Just another reason to exercise caution on the roads, you know? 😅 Slow down, use low-beams, stay in your lane... all the usual safety tips 🚗💡. And if it's really bad out, just pull over and wait it out - no need to risk it 🛑️. My only concern is that this fog advisory might cause some traffic jams or accidents on the roads... but hey, at least everyone's being warned about it 🚨.
Just got wind that there's a major fog advisory out today 🌫️😱! I'm so worried about all those commuters out there, it's gonna be a real challenge to navigate through this stuff. Slow down, turn on those low beams, and keep a safe distance from the car in front of you - it's just not worth taking any risks on these roads ⏰💡! I hope everyone stays safe out there 👍💕
🌫️ just saw that fog advisory is gonna be a real thing out there today ... slow down or forget about driving all together lol i mean, visibility will be like nothing you've ever seen before ... one quarter mile or less? thats crazy 🤯 i'll definitely be taking these tips to heart and being super cautious on the roads if im even thinking of venturing out 🚗💨
🚗😬 Ugh, can't believe I'm stuck on this M25 again 🙄... just kidding! But seriously, who thought it was a good idea to venture out during one of the most hazardous weather conditions? Dense fog is no joke, fam! I mean, I get it, we need to get to work/school/etc., but safety first, right? 🤦‍♂️ The NWS has some solid tips on how to navigate this mess, so kudos for that! Slowing down and using low-beams makes total sense. And omg, who knew high beams could create glare in foggy conditions?! 😲 I've had my fair share of white-knuckle drives in these types of conditions... not fun 🤯. Just remember to be extra cautious out there, folks! 💡
