6-year-old girl dies after Staten Island crash that killed elderly man, NYPD says

Tragedy Strikes on Staten Island: Young Girl's Life Lost in Fatal Crash

A devastating turn of events unfolded on the streets of Staten Island, where a young girl lost her life just days after being severely injured in a fatal collision. Six-year-old Anheli Vasquez-Trinidad was critically hurt in the accident, which took place last Friday morning at the intersection of Rockland Avenue and Forest Hill Road.

Eyewitnesses described the horrific scene when the Honda car carrying Anheli collided head-on with an SUV driven by a 50-year-old woman, who suffered only minor injuries. The impact left two passengers of the Honda in critical condition: a 70-year-old woman who remains hospitalized in stable but critical condition and a 90-year-old man who sadly lost his life.

Anheli's condition rapidly deteriorated over the next couple of days, and unfortunately, she succumbed to her injuries on Sunday. The cause of the accident is still under investigation by the NYPD Highway District's Collision Investigation Squad.

According to authorities, the Audi driver attempted to make a left turn onto Forest Hill Road, crossing in front of the Honda, which ultimately led to the fatal crash. Despite the severity of the incident, no arrests have been made as of Sunday afternoon, and officials are urging anyone with information to come forward.

๐Ÿ˜’ this whole thing feels like it's being swept under the rug. first, a girl gets seriously hurt in an accident, then she dies two days later... what's the rush? we need more info on what exactly happened here ๐Ÿš—๐Ÿ’ฅ they say the audi driver made a wrong turn, but that doesn't explain why the nypd is so slow to make any arrests ๐Ÿ‘ฎโ€โ™‚๏ธ. and what about airbags? were they functioning properly? ๐Ÿค” sources needed here ASAP ๐Ÿ’ฌ

omg what's going on on Staten Island ๐Ÿค•๐Ÿ˜ฑ that little girl Anheli was so young and full of life now she's gone ๐Ÿ˜ข i'm literally crying over here my heart is breaking for her family ๐Ÿ™ i hope the cops catch whoever was behind that wheel tho ๐Ÿš”๐Ÿ˜ก they gotta make sure no one else has to go through what Anheli's fam is going thru ๐Ÿ’” my thoughts are with them always โค๏ธ

I'm still trying to process this tragedy ๐Ÿค•... it's just heartbreaking to think about a 6-year-old girl's life cut short like that ๐Ÿ˜ข. The investigation is on, but I hope they can figure out what really happened and make sure justice is served for Anheli's family ๐Ÿ’”. You have to feel bad for the other passengers in the Honda too, who are still fighting for their lives... 6 years old is just way too young! ๐Ÿ™

When you try to make a left turn but your instincts are like "NOPE, NOT TODAY" ๐Ÿšซ๐Ÿ˜‚

Accidents happen but it's still super sad when kids get hurt ๐Ÿ˜”

Guess the 50-year-old woman got away with a " minor injury"... meanwhile, Anheli is gone ๐Ÿค•

Ugh, I'm still trying to process this news, you know? ๐Ÿค• Six-year-old Anheli was just days away from recovering after that awful accident... it's like the universe is just cruel sometimes. My heart goes out to her family and friends - they're going through so much pain right now. It's crazy how quickly her condition took a turn for the worse, I mean, she was already hurt and then she just kept getting worse and worse until it was too late.

I don't think anyone wants to be driving around when there are cyclists or pedestrians on the road, you know? And what's up with those traffic laws not being followed? It seems like common sense would be enough... anyway, I hope Anheli's family finds some comfort in the love and support they're receiving from everyone.

๐Ÿ˜• I gotta say, this whole thing just feels like a case of bad luck & circumstance gone wrong ๐Ÿคฏ The fact that Anheli was severely injured in the first place is already so tragic ๐Ÿ’”, but for her to pass away just days later is just heartbreaking ๐Ÿ˜ญ.

I know it's not fair to pin blame on anyone yet, but I'm curious - what about the Audi driver who was going at least 30+ mph trying to make that left turn? Doesn't that put a huge amount of pressure on whoever is driving straight in their path? ๐Ÿš—๐Ÿ’จ It just seems like this accident was waiting to happen & someone had to pay the price ๐Ÿ’€.

Of course, we don't know all the facts yet, but it's hard not to wonder if there were any contributing factors that could've been avoided with better caution or planning on either side of the road ๐Ÿค”.

.. what's the point of having good Samaritans watching over us if we're all just gonna be in a rush all the time? I mean, that Audi driver was like, "Oh, I'll just make this left turn and hope for the best." ๐Ÿคฆโ€โ™€๏ธ But what about Anheli's family, who were probably worried sick about her just hours before she went to sleep? The real tragedy here isn't just the loss of one young life, it's the potential loss of so many more. We need to be more mindful of each other on our roads, 'cause we're all in this together ๐Ÿš—๐Ÿ’”

This is just terrible ๐Ÿค•. I mean, can you even imagine being that close to death only to lose the battle? It's like, what if the SUV driver had just slowed down for a sec or two? I'm sure she was doing 30mph, but still... An elderly guy dies in the crash and now his family has to deal with this trauma on top of grief ๐Ÿ˜”. And can we talk about the state of our roads? Those left turns are super sketchy ๐Ÿšจ. The cops need to figure out who's at fault ASAP so people can have closure, not be stuck wondering what could've been ๐Ÿ’”.

๐Ÿšจ๐Ÿ’” 22,000+ cyclists killed/year in USA ๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ (2019-2022 stats). Can we talk about road safety for a sec? ๐Ÿคฆโ€โ™‚๏ธ. In my opinion, the intersection design & speed limits should be re-evaluated, especially on Staten Island. ๐Ÿ“ The 45%+ of pedestrians hit/year in NYC ๐Ÿ—ฝ๏ธ are proof that more needs to be done! ๐Ÿ‘Š 9/10 chance this accident could've been prevented if proper safety measures were in place ๐Ÿšซ๐Ÿ’ก

OMG ๐Ÿ™…โ€โ™‚๏ธ I'm still shaking thinking about this poor girl Anheli ๐Ÿค•. Can't believe she was just 6 years old ๐Ÿ˜”. And what's even more disturbing is the fact that the Audi driver tried to make a left turn on red, it's like they didn't even care about the kids in the Honda ๐Ÿ‘Ž. The worst part is that no one's been held accountable for this yet ๐Ÿš”. I mean, we know the police are investigating, but when do we expect some justice? โฐ It just feels like the system is moving too slow ๐Ÿ•ฐ๏ธ.

man that's so sad what happened on Staten Island :( a 6 yr old kid's life cut short like that is just heartbreaking ๐Ÿ’” my heart goes out to Anheli's family and loved ones this accident could've been prevented if the Audi driver was more careful, it's always tragic when innocent lives are lost in such a way ๐Ÿค• the NYPD needs to get to the bottom of this ASAP so justice can be served ๐Ÿšจ

What's up with all this? ๐Ÿค” First, a kid gets severely hurt in a car accident, and now she's gone? It's like the universe is trying to tell us something... or maybe it's just trying to cover up something big. I mean, what if the Audi driver wasn't who they claimed to be? What if they were trying to hit that Honda on purpose? ๐Ÿ˜ฑ We don't know the whole story yet, and we shouldn't jump to conclusions... but at the same time, this does smell fishy. And have you noticed how no one's been arrested yet? That always means there's more to it than meets the eye... ๐Ÿ”

This is just heartbreaking ๐Ÿค•๐Ÿ˜ข Anheli's life was cut short, it's so unfair ๐Ÿ˜ญ. My thoughts are with her family and loved ones during this incredibly tough time ๐Ÿ’”. Six years old, can you even imagine losing a child like that? It's just devastating ๐Ÿคฏ. I hope the investigation is thorough and gets to the bottom of what happened ๐Ÿš”. Sending lots of love and support to everyone affected by this tragedy โค๏ธ๐ŸŒŸ

๐Ÿ˜” This is just heartbreaking... I mean, six years old, what a tragedy! ๐Ÿค• You know who else doesn't deserve that? The person behind that wheel at the intersection when she was making that fateful turn... they're still driving free, while Anheli's gone forever. ๐Ÿ’” It's like, we need to make sure justice is served for this family. The investigation might take time, but I hope it happens ASAP so we can find out what really happened and hold accountable whoever's responsible. ๐Ÿš” Fingers crossed.

omg i cant even right now ๐Ÿ˜ญ Anheli's story is so sad she was just a big kid with her whole life ahead of her ๐Ÿคฏ like what if the other driver didnt make that stupid left turn? ๐Ÿš—๐Ÿ˜ก and the fact that the police are still investigating and nothing has been solved yet is just too much for me ๐Ÿ’” my little cousin's birthday party is coming up this weekend and i was thinking of taking pics with a mini car toy ๐ŸŽ‚๐Ÿš— but now im never doing it ๐Ÿคทโ€โ™€๏ธ

๐Ÿ™„ I'm so done with people freaking out over this accident. Like, let's be real, it was just a car crash. It's not like Anheli was riding a unicorn or something ๐Ÿฆ„. Six is still pretty young, and she lived her life, you know? It's not like she had some grand destiny that got cut short. And honestly, the whole "who's at fault" thing is so overrated. We'll never really know what happened in that split second, and making judgments now is just speculation ๐Ÿคทโ€โ™€๏ธ. Can we please just focus on supporting Anheli's family instead of dissecting every detail of the accident? ๐Ÿ‘ต

omg I cant even rn this is so sad for Anheli's fam ๐Ÿค•๐Ÿ’” my heart goes out to them she was only 6 lol what a tragedy in the first place its like her life was just starting out & now its all cut short ๐Ÿ’€ I feel bad for the ppl who were in the Honda too, 70 yr old lady & 90 yr old man dont deserve to go thru this ๐Ÿ˜” hope the investigation finds the driver of the SUV responsible tho ๐Ÿšจ

Ugh man, this is like something out of a bad dream... I remember when my cousin's little brother was in a car accident and he was okay (thx God) but this poor girl Anheli... 6 years old ๐Ÿ˜ฉ can you believe it? And now her parents are gonna have to go through the worst time of their lives without their baby ๐Ÿค•. It's like, what's wrong with people on the road these days? I mean, back in my day (lol) we didn't even own a car, let alone drive one... and now it seems like we're driving around like maniacs all the time... anyway, no arrests yet, but I'm sure they'll get 'em eventually ๐Ÿคž. My heart goes out to Anheli's family...
