KGO Teaches Viewers with Disabilities How to Report Accessibility Issues with Closed Captions

If you rely on closed captions for TV shows and programs, KGO has set up an easy-to-use reporting system. However, a recent review of the station's accessibility protocols reveals some confusion among viewers about how to report issues.

To start, viewers can submit their complaints via email at [email protected] or by phone at (415) 559-7600. When making a complaint, it is helpful to include as much detail as possible, such as the name of the program, date and time it aired, a description of any issues experienced, whether the issue occurred while watching via broadcast or online, and information about the device used.

Additionally, viewers can write complaints directly to Jack Fraser, KGO's Assistant Director of Broadcast, at 900 Front Street, San Francisco, CA 94111. While this method is more formal, it may be suitable for those who prefer a paper trail.

For individuals with disabilities, there are separate resources available. The FCC has established a public inspection file online, which contains important information about the station's compliance with accessibility regulations. If you need help accessing this file or have questions about its content, contact [email protected].

If you're having trouble using the FCC's online public file system, don't worry - the agency is here to help. Simply call 888-225-5322 or 888-835-5322 (TTY) for assistance with accessibility concerns.

OMG, I'm so hyped that KGO is finally making it easy for people with disabilities to report accessibility issues on their closed captions πŸ€©πŸ“Ί They gotta have a system in place 'cause some viewers are getting all confused πŸ€·β€β™€οΈ like, how do you even submit a complaint if you're not tech-savvy? πŸ€” And good move by Jack Fraser making a physical address for complaints too, like that's old school but necessary πŸ˜‚. The FCC resources are also super helpful, especially with those TTY numbers - accessibility shouldn't be a thing of struggle, right? πŸ’―

πŸ€” I think it's awesome that KGO is making an effort to make TV more accessible for people with disabilities, but I'm surprised they're still relying on phone calls and email for reporting issues. Can't they just create a super user-friendly online form like everyone else? πŸ“Š It's not exactly rocket science, right? And what's up with the separate resources for individuals with disabilities? Shouldn't it be integrated into the main system? πŸš€

omg 🀯 i feel like we need more awareness about this kinda thing! accessibility issues can be super frustrating especially if you're relying on closed captions to follow along in class or at home. kgo is taking steps in the right direction but it's great that they're acknowledging the confusion and making resources available for viewers with disabilities πŸ™Œ i wish more stations would do the same, it's about time we prioritize accessibility and make things easier for everyone πŸ‘

Ugh, can't believe we gotta do this πŸ™„. Seriously though, it's about time someone called out KGO on their accessibility issues. I mean, if you're relying on closed captions for a show and it's just not working right, that's a major problem. And now they've got a reporting system in place? It's about 5 clicks away from being super intuitive lol.

I think what's trippy is that some people don't even know how to report these issues 🀯. Like, have you ever tried calling the FCC and asking for help with something?! Yeah thought so πŸ˜‚. Anyway, at least now KGO has a dedicated email and phone number, so we can all just chill and submit our complaints.

I'm actually kinda proud of them for setting up this system though πŸ™Œ. It's about time someone took accessibility seriously. Let's hope they follow through on their promises and actually make some changes πŸ’ͺ.

I think its kinda awesome that KGO is tryin to listen to their viewers & make some changes to improve accessibility, especially for ppl with disabilities 🀝. I mean, we all rely on closed captions sometimes, but if the system is confusing or not workin right, it can be super frustrating 😩.

I also love that they've got multiple ways for ppl to report issues - email, phone, or even snail mail πŸ“¨! That way, everyone's got a chance to voice their concerns & help make things better. And it's great that the FCC has resources available too, like the public inspection file online πŸ“Š. It's all about making sure everyone's got access to the same info & can participate in the conversation πŸ’¬.

can we just get a decent captioning system already?! i mean, i'm all for giving it 5 stars on tv guides but come on, how hard is it to report an issue? πŸ€¦β€β™‚οΈ the fcc's online file system is like trying to find a needle in a haystack, btw. anyone else have trouble finding that public inspection file πŸ€”

I think this is a great move by KGO! 🀩 It shows that they're willing to listen and make things right for their viewers, especially those who rely on closed captions. I've heard from friends who have struggled with accessibility issues in the past, and it's about time someone steps up to help. The fact that they have a dedicated email and phone number makes it super easy for people to report any problems, and the FCC's online public file system is a game-changer too! πŸ‘ It just goes to show that with the right resources and support, everyone can enjoy their favorite shows without any barriers. πŸ’–

Ugh, yeah I get it, KGO wants us viewers with disabilities to report those pesky accessibility issues... πŸ™„ like we're just going to magically know how to do that already... Anyway, seriously though, the fact that they've set up a reporting system is a start, but come on, make it easier than this! Less typing required = less eyes straining πŸ˜’ A simple online form would be lovely. But hey, at least we have each other to vent to πŸ€—

OMG 🀯 I'm so glad KGO is taking steps to make their content more accessible! It's crazy how many people struggle with reporting issues with closed captions, and now they have this easy-to-use system in place πŸ™Œ. But what really gets me is that there are separate resources for viewers with disabilities πŸš€. Like, the FCC has an online public inspection file that's specifically designed for them, and if they need help accessing it, they can just give KGO a call πŸ“ž. I feel like this is such a huge step forward in promoting inclusivity and accessibility πŸ‘. And honestly, as someone who watches a lot of TV shows and programs, I know how frustrating it can be to deal with subpar closed captions 😩. So kudos to KGO for taking action and making a difference πŸŽ‰!

I don’t usually comment but... think it’s kinda cool that KGO is trying to make their closed captions more accessible. But, like, I wonder if they could make it easier for people with disabilities to find the info online. I mean, having a separate email and phone number just feels like extra hassle, you know? πŸ€” Maybe they could just have one central hub where people can report issues and get help? That way, everyone's on the same page and doesn't feel like they're jumping through hoops. Plus, having more resources available for individuals with disabilities is a big step forward, I guess πŸ™.
