AI’s Imperial Agenda

This is a podcast episode of "The Intercept Briefing". The conversation revolves around the topic of artificial intelligence (AI) and its impact on society.

The hosts, Jessica Washington and Andrew Stelzer, discuss how AI development has become an imperial agenda for tech billionaires, who are accumulating resources and power through it. They also mention that many journalists have been cowed by the industry's influence and are not reporting on this issue effectively.

The conversation touches on various aspects of AI development, including its effects on the job market, data centers, and the potential for a "post-truth" America. The hosts emphasize the importance of press freedom in defending democracy against authoritarianism and the need for journalists to be independent of corporate interests.

Throughout the conversation, Washington also shares some final thoughts on how individual action can make a difference, such as donating to support the work of organizations like The Intercept or helping to expand their reporting capacity.

I think its wild that tech billionaires are basically running the show with AI development 🤖. Its like they're trying to create this perfect utopia for themselves and forget about everyone else. I mean, sure AI has some cool benefits but come on, we need to make sure its not just a tool for them to control even more of our lives.

I also feel like the journalists are doing a pretty meh job of holding these billionaires accountable 📰. I mean, you'd think they'd be all over this issue but instead its like they're just scratching the surface. We need more critical reporting and less corporate-friendly coverage if we wanna make sure AI doesn't become a force for oppression.

But at least Jessica was right on about individual action making a difference 💪. Supporting organizations like The Intercept is one thing, but also think about what you can do in your daily life to push back against the AI machine - whether thats boycotting companies that are pushing bad AI or just spreading awareness with your friends and family. We need more people doing their part if we wanna create a fairer future for all.

I'm really frustrated with where this is going 🤯 AI is already changing our lives so much and we're talking about it like it's some kind of tech thing? We need journalists who aren't afraid to talk about the bigger picture - like how these billionaires are using their power to shape society. It's not just about jobs or data centers, it's about the future of our democracy.

I'm not surprised that a lot of journalists are getting pressure from the industry, but what's even more concerning is that there are so many of them who don't seem to be speaking out against this. I think we need more people like The Intercept who are willing to take on these issues and hold those in power accountable.

For me, it's not just about listening to podcasts or reading articles - it's about taking action too 🗣️. We need to support organizations that are fighting for press freedom and transparency, and also make our voices heard by demanding more from our leaders.

AI is literally taking over our lives 🤖! I mean, it's no secret that tech billionaires are making bank off this stuff, but it's crazy how much power they're accumulating. It's like, we're living in a sci-fi movie and nobody's even talking about the implications. The job market is already suffering with automation, data centers are just huge energy suckers... and what's this "post-truth" America thing? 🤯 We need journalists who aren't afraid to speak truth to power and hold these billionaires accountable. It's all about press freedom, you know? Can't let corporate interests dictate the narrative. I'm inspired by The Intercept's work and think we should be supporting them more. Every little bit counts, right? Maybe if we all just do our part... 🤞

AI is like that one aunt at the family reunion - it's always trying to help, but sometimes you just wanna know what she's really thinking 🤔. I mean, tech billionaires are basically saying they're gonna be the guardians of human progress and we should all bow down... meanwhile, they're building their own personal dynasties 🤑.

And can we talk about how everyone's afraid to rock the boat? Journalists are too scared to report on this because they're worried about being "that one person" who gets cancelled 💔. I'm not saying it's easy, but someone gotta say something about this imperial AI agenda and how it's affecting our society 🌎.

But you know what? I love the fact that The Intercept is out there pushing back against all this. Those guys are like the underdogs in the tech world - they're fighting for a better future, even if nobody else wants to listen 👊. So yeah, donate to them or help expand their reporting capacity... we need more voices like theirs 💬.

AI is taking over everything and I'm not sure if it's a good thing 🤔. These tech billionaires are so powerful now they're basically running the show and that's not cool at all 💸. It's like, what happens when AI makes its own decisions? Do we even have control over our own lives anymore? 🤖

And don't even get me started on the job market 🚫. I know some people say it's created new opportunities, but honestly, how many people are actually working in these "new" industries? And what about all the jobs that are getting automated out of existence? It's just not right 🙅‍♀️.

I wish more journalists were speaking up about this stuff and holding those billionaires accountable 💪. We need press freedom to defend democracy, but it seems like some people are too scared to speak out for fear of losing their job or being silenced 👊. Maybe we can make a difference by supporting organizations that do care about this issue 🤝.

🚨 I'm so done with these tech billionaires making moves behind closed doors! They're basically creating an AI empire without anyone really questioning it 🤖💸. News outlets are supposed to be holding them accountable, but instead they're all about getting cozy with the powers that be 💼. We need more people like Glenn Greenwald and The Intercept speaking truth to power and pushing back against this corporate agenda 📰💪. What's even more concerning is how AI development is shaping our society in ways we can't even imagine yet... have we thought through the implications of a "post-truth" America where algorithms become our gatekeepers of info? 🤔👀 We need more nuanced discussions about this stuff, not just sensationalized headlines 😬.

AI is taking over everything now 🤖 it's like we're sleepwalking into a future where our choices are being made by machines... tech billionaires are so caught up in making a buck they don't care about what this does to humanity, the job market is getting destroyed and no one's talking about it 🙅‍♂️... we need more independent journalists who aren't afraid to speak truth to power 💪

idk why ppl r worried about AI being controlled by tech billionaires 🤷‍♂️ they're prob just trying 2 use it 4 good 💸 i mean, whats wrong w/ a lil competition? 🤑 and btw, journalists need 2 step up their game if they wanna take on these big companies 👊 we don't need more hand-holding from them 🙅‍♂️

AI is taking over everything and it's crazy 💥 I mean, tech billionaires are making billions off AI and it's not even like they're doing it for the greater good 🤑. It feels like a game of power and control. And honestly, I think that's why journalists aren't reporting on this enough - they're scared of losing their jobs or facing backlash from these powerful people 💔. We need more investigative journalism to hold them accountable, not less 😬.

AI is literally taking over everything! 🤖 I mean, have you seen those AI-powered robots at Amazon warehouses? They're like tiny little overlords, working 24/7 without complaining (or so they say 😉). It's wild that some tech billionaires are basically running the show when it comes to AI development. Like, who needs all that power and control, right? 🤑

And don't even get me started on how journalists are getting intimidated by the industry's influence. I mean, we need people like The Intercept holding them accountable, not corporate giants trying to silence the truth. 💪 It's crucial that press freedom is prioritized so democracy doesn't become a joke in America.

I do love that Jessica Washington mentioned individual action can make a difference – donating to orgs like The Intercept or helping expand their reporting capacity 🎯. We need more voices like hers amplifying the conversation on AI and its impact on society! 💬

omg i completely agree w/ what they're saying about tech billionaires & AI 🤖🤑 it's insane how much power these people are accumulating and not many ppl are talking about it...i've been following this topic for a while now & it's getting out of control 🚨 i mean like have u seen the size of these data centers? they're basically just warehouses for our personal info 🤯 & it's so scary to think about how easily that info can be used against us 💔
