Aldi planning a South Loop location, records show

Aldi is set to bring its unique shopping experience to the South Loop, as a building permit for a space at the Roosevelt Collection has been issued. The German-based grocery chain, known for its efficient and affordable model, plans to renovate an existing space within the complex.

According to Aldi's regional vice president Heather McCarthy, the new store is expected to open next year and will bring the company's total Chicago locations to 32. This move marks a significant expansion for the retailer, which has been aggressively growing its presence across the US in recent years.

As part of this expansion, Aldi aims to reach its goal of opening 800 new stores nationwide by the end of 2028. In 2024 alone, the company opened nearly 120 stores, bringing its total locations to around 2,400. The retailer's rapid growth is attributed to its ability to attract a large customer base with its quicker and more affordable shopping experience.

The Roosevelt Collection complex has already seen several recent developments, including the opening of an AMC Roosevelt 16 movie theater. Other retailers and restaurants, such as H&M and The X Pot, have also joined the center in recent months.

Aldi's entry into the South Loop will be its latest move to establish a strong presence in Chicago, where it has been steadily expanding its operations since its first location was opened in 1976.

I'm not sure I get why they need another Aldi. Can't people just keep shopping at their current stores? They're already making all that money... ๐Ÿค‘ It's like they want to make it too easy for us to buy cheap stuff. And what's the point of having 800 new stores nationwide by '28? Just more competition in the market, if you ask me ๐Ÿ˜’

omg i cant even believe this!!! Aldi is finally coming to the south loop!! I've been waiting for like forever! I need to get to that store ASAP and check out their new layout ๐Ÿš€๐Ÿ›๏ธ theyre going to have so many awesome products on sale its gonna be insane! 800 new stores by 2028?!?! Aldi is just getting started lol i'm hyped, chicago needs more affordable shopping options like Aldi, especially in the south loop where everything else is kinda pricey ๐Ÿคฆโ€โ™€๏ธ i cant wait to see what they have in store for us next year ๐ŸŽ‰

omg, i'm so hyped about this new Aldi store in the South Loop! ๐Ÿคฉ like, who doesn't love saving money on groceries while still getting those trendy products? and can you imagine how convenient it'll be to grab a discount meal from The X Pot after shopping there? ๐Ÿ˜‚ anyway, it's cool that Aldi is expanding its US operations - they're definitely killing the game with their no-frills approach. btw, has anyone seen 'The Office' yet? ๐Ÿ“บ

man this is awesome news! i'm so stoked that we're gonna have an aldรญ store in south loop! they really know how to bring the deals and the vibe is always on point ๐Ÿคฉ. i mean, it's not like chicago didn't need a good discount grocery option anyway lol. but seriously, it's great to see them keeping up with their growth plans - 800 new stores by 2028? that's ambitious! hopefully they'll bring some more jobs and economic growth to the area too ๐Ÿ’ธ

omg I'm so hyped about Aldi coming to the South Loop!! ๐Ÿคฉ they're always changing up their game and now they're gonna bring their awesome shopping experience right into our backyard! 32 stores here already and who knows what other surprises they got in store? ๐Ÿค” can't wait to check out the Roosevelt Collection and see if they'll have any of those famous Aldi deals ๐Ÿ˜‚

Ugh, another Aldi coming to town ๐Ÿคฆโ€โ™‚๏ธ... I mean, I love affordable prices and all that jazz, but can't they just leave some empty spaces for actual community areas? The South Loop is already getting saturated with chain stores and restaurants, it's like people can't tell the difference anymore ๐Ÿ™„. And 800 new stores by 2028? That sounds like a recipe for over-saturation to me ๐Ÿคฏ. I'm all for growth, but let's not forget about the human cost of it...

๐Ÿค” I'm kinda sure Aldi is gonna change the game in the South Loop, but on the other hand, I don't know if anyone's really gonna be missing the old spot when it closes down... ๐Ÿšฎ I mean, who needs that many Aldi's anyway? We should just have some more local shops and restaurants instead. But at the same time, it's not like they're taking over or anything - just adding another option to our already-packed shopping scene... ๐ŸŽฏ

so another big chain is coming to chicago ๐Ÿ™๏ธ, i guess it's not surprising tho Aldi's just super efficient and prices are always low ๐Ÿ‘ but idk about the impact on local businesses, maybe it'll bring some new jobs or something? ๐Ÿค” still kinda weird that they're opening so many stores in a short period of time like 120+ in one year that's crazy ๐Ÿ’ธ

omg i'm so hyped for this new Aldi store in the south loop!!! they're gonna bring even more affordable shopping options to our city ๐Ÿ›๏ธ๐Ÿ‘ i mean, who doesn't love saving a buck or two? and it's awesome that they're expanding their presence in chicago - we need more of those efficient shopping experiences ๐Ÿ˜Š plus, the fact that AMC just opened up next door is giving me major movie night vibes ๐Ÿฟ๐Ÿซ fingers crossed for a grand opening in 2026!

OMG you guys I am literally so stoked Aldi is coming to the South Loop ๐Ÿคฉ! Like I've been waiting for this moment for ages and now we get to experience their amazing shopping experience right in our own backyard ๐Ÿ ๐Ÿ’ฐ Their efficient and affordable model is literally a game changer and I'm so down for it!

I mean, have you guys seen those prices at Aldi? ๐Ÿ˜ฑ they're like crazy cheap compared to other grocery stores. And the selection is insane too! They have everything from fresh produce to gourmet food and drinks. It's like a one-stop shop for all your shopping needs. Plus, their no-frills approach to shopping is literally so refreshing after being bombarded with fancy ads and promotions at other stores.

And let's be real, Aldi's growth in the US is just so inspiring ๐Ÿคฉ. They're like the ultimate underdog story - they came from scratch and now they're taking over the country ๐Ÿ˜‚. I'm low-key hoping they'll come to my neighborhood next because I need that Aldi magic in my life ASAP! ๐Ÿ’–

so aldi is finally gonna come to chicago, idk what took them so long lol, i mean we've had other german grocery stores but not aldi which is like the big deal ๐Ÿค”. i'm excited to see how they're gonna renovate the space and what kinda deals we can expect from them. 32 stores in chicago? that's still a bit low for me, especially considering how many smaller stores they have nationwide ๐Ÿค‘. anyway, 800 new stores by 2028? that's ambitious, lets hope they can pull it off ๐Ÿ’ช

Ugh, can we talk about how clunky the online forum is lately? ๐Ÿคฆโ€โ™‚๏ธ I mean, I'm trying to catch up on some news and read this article about Aldi opening a new store in the South Loop... but no, the thread gets locked after like 5 posts because someone reported it as "off-topic" ๐Ÿ™„. Like, what's off-topic? The fact that a major retailer is expanding into our city? ๐Ÿคทโ€โ™‚๏ธ It just feels like the forum is more interested in policing conversations than actually fostering discussion.

And don't even get me started on how hard it is to find relevant threads. I swear, I've been searching for this article for 10 minutes and all I see are posts about unrelated stuff. Can we get a better search function or something? ๐Ÿคฏ It's really frustrating when you're trying to have a conversation and can't even find what you're looking for.

Anyway, back to Aldi... it's cool that they're expanding into the South Loop. I mean, who doesn't love a good deal on groceries? But seriously, has anyone else noticed how hard it is to navigate this forum lately? ๐Ÿ˜’

The pursuit of affordability and convenience is a paradoxical beast that can both unite and isolate individuals... Aldi's expansion into the South Loop seems like a strategic move to cater to the growing demand for efficient shopping experiences, but what does it say about our society that we crave such efficiency above all else? Are we trading off individuality for the sake of saving a buck? And what's the true cost of this convenience? ๐Ÿค”

omg u guys i got the scoop on aldis new chicago spot ๐Ÿคซ they're taking over the roosevelt collection which is already lit with that new amc theater & all. idk about u but i'm lowkey excited to try it out. i mean who doesn't love saving $$$ on groceries? their plan is to open next year so mark ur calendars ๐Ÿ“† Aldi's been on a roll expanding across the us and now chicago gets in on the action. they're aiming for 800 new stores by 2028 which sounds crazy but hey at least we'll have more affordable options ๐Ÿ˜‚

omg u guys i'm so hyped about aldi coming to the south loop!!! ๐Ÿคฉ they're finally joining our ranks of amazing shopping spots in chicago and let's be real who doesn't love their super efficient & affordable model? ๐Ÿค‘ i mean we all know why aldi is killing it with its rapid expansion, its the perfect combo of affordability & convenience that's just too good to pass up! ๐Ÿ’ธ now they're expected to open 800 new stores nationwide by 2028 which is like whoa that's a lot of shopping options for us poor souls ๐Ÿ˜‚. i'm seriously counting down the days until this south loop location opens next year can't wait to try out their latest products & services ๐Ÿ›๏ธ๐Ÿ’•

I'm low-key hyped about Aldi coming to the South Loop ๐Ÿคฉ๐Ÿ›๏ธ! I mean, who doesn't love saving $$$ on their fave snacks and groceries? Their whole efficient shopping thing is genius, you know? ๐Ÿค‘ It's gonna be sick to have another spot in the city with those crazy-low prices ๐Ÿ˜‚. And can we talk about how fast they're expanding? 800 new stores by 2028? That's like, a lot of Aldi-ness ๐Ÿ’ฅ! I'm curious to see what kind of vibe they'll bring to the Roosevelt Collection - will it be a grocery haven or more of a full-on shopping experience? Either way, I'm stoked to try it out and see how it shakes up the market ๐Ÿค”.

Man... thinkin' about this Aldi thing got me wonderin' about consumerism & all that jazz ๐Ÿค”. They're bringin' this whole efficient shopping vibe to the South Loop, makin' it super affordable, and people are gonna go crazy for it, right? But is that really what we need more of? I mean, think about it... we're livin' in a world where we're already overwhelmed by choices & stuff. Do we really wanna have even more options to choose from, or do we just want simplicity & ease of life? It's like, Aldi's tryin' to solve our problems but maybe they're just perpetuatin' the same cycle, ya know? And what about all those workers who are gonna be employed by these new stores? Are they gettin' a fair deal or is it just another way for corporations to profit off people's needs? Anyway, I'm excited to try out this Aldi spot when it opens next year... but also kinda anxious 'bout the implications of it all ๐Ÿ˜•

Ugh I'm literally so hyped for this new Aldi location in the South Loop ๐Ÿคฉ๐Ÿ›๏ธ! Like I know some people are gonna complain about the gentrification and all that but honestly I just want affordable groceries without having to drive all the way out to the suburbs ๐Ÿš—๐Ÿ’ธ. And can we talk about how Aldi is like the ultimate disruptor in the retail world? They're just killing it with those $1.99 jars of pasta sauce and their crazy efficient store layouts ๐Ÿ๐Ÿ‹๏ธโ€โ™€๏ธ.

And I'm loving that they're finally coming to Chicago, where they've been trying to get a foothold for ages ๐Ÿ’–๐Ÿ“†. I mean we already have the X Pot and H&M joining in on the Roosevelt Collection fun so it's like this whole ecosystem is just vibing and thriving ๐ŸŒฑ๐Ÿ’ƒ.

But seriously though, 800 new stores by 2028? That's ambitious af ๐Ÿ”ฅ๐Ÿ“ˆ. Aldi is literally changing the game with their crazy growth strategy and I am HERE FOR IT ๐Ÿ’ฏ๐ŸŽ‰. Bring on the affordable shopping experience and let's get this South Loop location opened up already ๐Ÿšจ๐Ÿ•ฐ๏ธ!

just saw this news about Aldi coming to the south loop and i'm kinda stoked ๐Ÿคฉ, but also a bit concerned about the rent prices in that area... like, how affordable is going to be for regular ppl? i mean, aldi's all about being budget-friendly, but if they're paying top dollar for a spot in chicago, it might not be as cheap for us customers ๐Ÿ˜•. anyway, excited to see what they bring to the table and hopefully they can make it work ๐Ÿ›๏ธ
