Ancient Roman mass grave shows its army's ethnic diversity

🤯 this is so wild they were like "hey we need someone who can fight" and just picked whoever was available lol. think about it now with how interconnected the world is, it's crazy that ancient civilizations did it too 🌎. guess all those old wars weren't as isolated as we thought 👊

OMG 🤯 just saw this news and I am literally dying over here!!! 😂 ancient roman mass grave in croatia?!?! this is like, total proof that rome was all about diversity and inclusion 💖 i mean, we always knew it but to see it on paper (or rather, dna 😂) is just amazing. 7 dudes from different parts of the world united under one roof? same time, same empire 🤝 can you even imagine being part of that army back in the day?!? 😎 i need a rom-com with roman soldiers now 🍿👏

man this is crazy! 🤯 the romans were all about mixing it up with different cultures and regions, right? like they didn't just stop at recruiting from nearby areas, they went global! 👥 their approach definitely seems to have helped them build a massive empire that lasted for ages. and i love how this discovery confirms some of the historical records we already knew existed, but also adds some new depth to our understanding of the romans' military strategies 📚

I mean, think about it... these Roman soldiers were from all over, like literally all over... 🤯 And they just happened to be buried together? It's not like they were part of some sort of army bonding trip or anything 😂.

But seriously, this is kinda cool I guess. So basically, the Romans didn't care about where their soldiers came from as long as they could fight. It's like, they were all "Hey, you can be from Gaul or Greece or wherever, just give me 10 good years of service and we'll take care of you" 👊.

I wonder what it would've been like to live back then... I mean, not to say you'd wanna live in ancient Rome, but still 🤷‍♂️. The fact that they were able to keep all these different cultures together is pretty impressive, I guess.

this is crazy 💥 I mean, we always thought of ancient Rome as being super homogeneous, but now it seems like they were actually pretty diverse, culturally speaking 🌎. The fact that these guys came from different regions and cultures is just mind-blowing. I can see how this would have been a strength for the empire, though - having people with all sorts of skills and experiences to draw on must have been super useful.

it's also interesting to think about what their lives were like as soldiers. Were they really just fighting wars, or was there more to it? Did they have any sense of community or camaraderie within the army? I guess these mass graves might not give us all the answers, but they're definitely a great starting point for further investigation 🔍.

anyway, this just goes to show that history is way more complicated and nuanced than we often give it credit for 🤯. It's always exciting to learn something new and challenge our assumptions like this!
