Attempted sexual assaults in Logan Square prompt community alert

Community Rallies Behind Victims of Logan Square Assaults, Police Seek Help from Public

Late Friday morning, two women were the target of attempted sexual assaults in the Logan Square neighborhood. The incidents occurred just hours apart, with the first reported at 2:32 a.m. in the 2600 block of North Sawyer Avenue and the second at 3:23 a.m. in the 3100 block of West Schubert Avenue.

According to police, the assailant approached both victims from behind on the sidewalk, using verbal threats and physical force to overpower them. The victims were able to break free when nearby residents heard their screams for help, allowing the suspect to flee on foot.

Police are now seeking information from the public about the suspect's identity. He is described as being between 5 feet 9 and 5 feet 10 inches tall, with a medium to dark complexion, and weighing around 105-160 pounds. The man was wearing dark gray jeans, a gray hooded sweatshirt, and a ski mask when he committed the attacks.

Residents in Logan Square are advised to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity to police immediately. If you have information about these incidents or know someone who may be able to provide it, contact Area Five Detectives at (312) 746-6554 or submit an anonymous tip through CPDTIP.com using reference numbers RD# JJ498163 or JJ498195.

The Logan Square community is rallying behind the victims of these attacks, with many calling for increased security measures in the area. Police are urging anyone with information to come forward and help bring the suspect to justice.

๐Ÿšจ Community policing at its best! You know what this makes me think? How our current crime prevention strategies need a bit more TLC. I mean, how many times do we have to rely on good Samaritans to hear someone's screams for help before the authorities step in? We should be doing more to support our neighborhood watch programs and encourage people to take ownership of their community safety.

And let's not forget about the victims here - two women who were brutally attacked just because they were out walking alone. It's unacceptable that we still have incidents like this happening, especially in areas with good community engagement. We need to make sure we're supporting our local businesses and residents, so they feel safe enough to venture out without fear.

It's time for us to think about more proactive solutions, not just reactive ones. What do you guys think? Should we be looking at increasing patrols in the area or implementing more robust surveillance systems? ๐Ÿค”

just heard about those logan square assaults ๐Ÿค•๐Ÿ˜ฑ 2 women attacked in like 1 hour apart lol that's super scary. stats say 1 in 3 women experience physical or sexual violence, it's crazy. police got 0 leads on this guy, but ppl are coming forward with info ๐Ÿ™Œ. 5ft9-10 is a pretty common height range btw, so let's not jump to conclusions ๐Ÿคทโ€โ™€๏ธ. community rallies behind victims, that's awesome ๐ŸŒŸ. according to chicago police dept, 75% of reported crimes go unreported...we need to change that ๐Ÿ“Š. wanna see the stats on crime reporting rates in chicago? here are some numbers: 2022 had 55,645 reported violent crimes, but only 34% were solved ๐Ÿš”. lets keep pushing for more transparency and public safety measures ๐Ÿ’ก

๐Ÿ˜” Those poor women, having to go through that on their own streets... it's just heartbreaking. I think it's great that the community is coming together to support them, but at the same time, we should be asking ourselves why this guy was able to get away for so long? ๐Ÿค” It's not like he's a mastermind or anything, just some random dude who got desperate and took matters into his own hands.

I mean, have you seen those security cameras around here? They're super scarce! I think the city should really step up their game and make sure we've got more CCTV coverage in Logan Square ASAP โฑ๏ธ. We need to feel safe walking down the street at night, especially for women and marginalized communities who are already disproportionately affected by these kinds of attacks.

But let's not just focus on the physical security stuff โ€“ we should also be talking about mental health resources for people like this guy... what drives someone to commit such violent acts? ๐Ÿคฏ Is there something going on that we can help address? ๐Ÿค

๐Ÿ˜” my heart goes out to those women, it's just horrific that they had to go through this... 2 hours apart, mind you! ๐Ÿ˜ฑ can't even imagine how scared they must've been. I hope they're okay, physically and emotionally. ๐Ÿคž the whole community coming together to support them is really beautiful, though. we need more of that kindness and solidarity in the world... ๐Ÿ’– as for the police, I'm sure they'll do their best to catch this guy and keep everyone safe. just wish they could've caught him sooner! ๐Ÿ•ฐ๏ธ

Ugh, this is so frustrating ๐Ÿคฏ! Two women almost got hurt by some psycho dude in Logan Square. I mean, can't we get a safe community around here? It's crazy that they had to fight back to escape their attacker. And now we're supposed to just sit back and hope the police catch him on our own? Come on, we need better support from our authorities! ๐Ÿš”๐Ÿ’ก We should have more CCTV cameras in the area and regular patrolled foot patrols at night. This is not just about 2 women, it's about all of us feeling safe and protected. Let's raise awareness and demand change ๐Ÿ’ช๐ŸŒŸ

omg just heard about this๐Ÿ˜ฑ these assaults are so disturbing i feel bad for the girls who got attacked what can we do to help them ๐Ÿค— police need our input for sure they should increase patrols in that area ASAP๐Ÿš”๐Ÿ’ก everyone's gotta look out for each other here, right? ๐Ÿ‘ซ

Ugh, just heard about those scary assualts in Logan Square ๐Ÿคฏ. Can't believe people still think it's cool to prey on others like that. I mean, what's next? Self-driving cars gonna be used to kidnap people too? ๐Ÿš—๐Ÿ˜ฑ. Anyway, police need our help to catch this guy, so let's get involved and share those suspect descriptions far and wide ๐Ÿ’ก. But, gotta wonder how many more are gonna happen before something gets done about it... my gut tells me it's a bigger issue than just some dude in a hoodie ๐Ÿค”.

just had a convo with my kid about this and honestly think it's super scary for all those women out there who might be walking alone at night and can't even feel safe on their own streets ๐Ÿ˜ฉ๐Ÿšจ what I hope is that ppl in this community come together and look out for each other more like they already are, because it shows that there are good ppl willing to help when needed ๐Ÿค๐Ÿ’•

ugh, this is so worrying ๐Ÿค•... gotta be a super scary experience for those two ladies, having some random guy come outta nowhere like that. i hope they're doing okay after what happened ๐Ÿ˜”. anyway, police need all our help here - the more info we can give them, the better chance they got of catching this guy ๐Ÿ’ก. and yeah, increased security in the area is def a good idea ๐Ÿšช... can't be too careful when it comes to safety, right?

๐Ÿšจ just got word from a source that one of the witnesses who saw the suspect had actually seen him around town before, like a week ago ๐Ÿค”. Apparently, the guy was hanging out in other neighborhoods too, so it's not like he came out of nowhere. I'm thinking the cops might need to expand their search area a bit more than just Logan Square... idk if that's gonna make a difference though ๐Ÿ˜•

ugh this is so messed up ๐Ÿค•... i'm glad that people are stepping up to support the victims but like we need to be realistic here - 5 hours between these incidents? how many other people were in danger during those two hours? it's not just about one or two bad apples, it's a systemic issue. and what's with the lack of surveillance footage? shouldn't our neighborhoods have some kind of security cameras already? i'm all for community rallies but we need to be addressing the root cause here... increasing funding for law enforcement and improving safety measures in the area is crucial. ๐Ÿ’ก

Ugh, just heard about those scary assaults in Logan Square ๐Ÿค•. I mean, can you believe someone would do something so brutal to two women? They're lucky they were able to get away when they did, but I'm really worried about them... especially at night. You know how hard it is to feel safe walking alone after dark?

I think it's awesome that the community is coming together to support the victims, though ๐Ÿค. We need more people like those who are willing to stand up for each other and look out for one another. And yeah, police should definitely be doing more to keep our neighborhoods safe... but we can all play a part too by being aware of what's going on around us.

I've been thinking about getting some extra security measures in my own neighborhood, like installing a motion-sensing light or something ๐Ÿ . What do you guys think? Any other ideas for keeping ourselves and others safe? ๐Ÿ’ก

man this is so sad what's going on in logan square I'm just hoping that whoever did this gets caught ASAP and we can get some safety back in our community ๐Ÿค•๐Ÿšจ I've been thinking about getting a personal alarm or something like that for my own safety just in case I ever need it anyone else feel the need to take extra precautions?

man, it's like what even is goin on in this world ๐Ÿคฏ? Two women get attacked in one day, just hours apart... it's insane. I'm glad that some of the good people in Logan Square came out to support the victims, but at the same time, 5ft9-10in guy can be pretty hard to spot if you're not lookin' ๐Ÿ•ต๏ธโ€โ™‚๏ธ. I hope they catch this dude and make sure he's held accountable for what he did, but it's just another reminder that we gotta be on our toes and watch each other's backs ๐Ÿ‘ฎโ€โ™€๏ธ.

Man, this is so messed up ๐Ÿค•. I'm literally shaking thinking about those girls being attacked from behind like that. I feel bad for them already ๐Ÿ’”. The community coming together to support each other is actually really inspiring tho ๐Ÿ‘. Everyone should be safe in Logan Square, it's such a beautiful neighborhood ๐ŸŒณ. Police are doing their thing, but I hope they can catch this guy ASAP โฐ. If anyone has any info, please come forward and help out. We need to keep our neighborhoods safe ๐Ÿ˜Š.

๐Ÿ˜• so sad what's happening in logan square. i feel like we're living in a scary movie atm u guys gotta be careful out there at night especially in dimly lit areas. police should increase patrollers like what they do in other safe neighborhoods ๐Ÿšจ๐Ÿ‘ฎโ€โ™‚๏ธ has anyone seen that skit from irl with the guy who was walking around in a ski mask? idk but it's kinda freaky now lol what can we do to help tho? should there be more public awareness about consent and boundaries? or like, community events to bring people together and make it harder for these ppl to scope out their targets ๐Ÿค”

Ugh ๐Ÿ˜ฉ I was out with my girlfriends at a club last weekend in this same neighborhood, Logan Square, and we had to be super careful walking around at night. This is just so frustrating ๐Ÿคฏ, especially for us women who already feel like we're on edge all the time. The fact that these girls were attacked from behind, without even being able to see their attacker's face... it's just devastating ๐Ÿ˜”.

I do think what's great about this community, though, is how they're rallying around each other ๐Ÿค. It's amazing to see people coming together and supporting the victims in such a strong way. And I'm glad the police are taking this seriously too ๐Ÿ’ฏ. We need to make sure that everyone who was in those areas last night is safe and heard from ๐Ÿ‘.

๐Ÿ˜” this is so scary what's going on in Logan Square? two women attacked like that in one morning can't even walk down the street without being threatened or harmed... we need to support these victims and make sure they get the help they deserve ๐Ÿ’•. I think it's time for our community to come together and demand more safety measures, like increased police presence and security cameras ๐Ÿ“ธ. let's not forget that every single person has a right to feel safe in their own neighborhood ๐ŸŒŽ. if you know something, please report it to the authorities - we can't do this alone ๐Ÿ’ช.

I'm tellin' ya, something fishy's goin' on here ๐Ÿค‘... like, why did it have to happen in Logan Square? Wasn't there some new development or somethin'? Anyway, I think we need more than just community rallies to address this issue... what about increased CCTV cameras and better lighting around the area? And have you seen that sketch of the suspect? It's all a bit hazy if you ask me ๐Ÿค”. I mean, why did he wear a ski mask in the first place? Was it to hide his face or make it harder for witnesses to describe him? The more I think about it, the more I'm convinced there's more to this story than meets the eye... ๐Ÿ‘€
