Bears coach Ben Johnson: 'Shame' to waste great defensive performance in 20-17 playoff loss to Rams

Bears' coach Ben Johnson described the team's defensive effort as a 'shame', given that it was their best performance of the season, but ultimately wasn't enough to secure victory in their playoff loss to the Rams.

The Bears' defense put on a strong show, holding the Rams to just 20 points and under their regular-season average of 30 points per game. However, they were unable to capitalize on this success, allowing Los Angeles quarterback Matthew Stafford to lead his team to overtime.

Stafford's performance was particularly impressive, with 20 completions out of 42 attempts for 258 yards without a touchdown or interception. Despite the Rams' inability to score points, their defense was able to contain the Bears running backs effectively, limiting Kyren Williams to just 78 yards on 19 carries.

The four sacks recorded by the Bears' defensive line were a highlight of the game, with Montez Sweat, Jaquan Brisker, and Dominique Robinson all contributing to the pressure on Stafford. However, it was not enough to secure the win for Chicago, who ultimately fell short in their playoff bid.

Coach Ben Johnson expressed disappointment at his team's inability to close out the game, stating that they played hard throughout but were unable to make the necessary plays when it mattered most.

I feel bad for Coach Ben and the Bears, man πŸ€•. They had a solid defensive effort and put on some great pressure on Stafford, which is super impressive. But at the same time, you can't help but wonder what they could've done differently to seal the win πŸ’. 20 points from the Rams isn't bad, so I'm not gonna sit here and tell them to get their act together πŸ™…β€β™‚οΈ. It's just one game and they'll bounce back, for sure! 😊

I'm still reeling from that crazy game 🀯! The Bears' defense was on fire πŸ”₯, holding the Rams to a measly 20 points - that's like, a huge win in itself. I mean, they were basically shutting down their opponents for the most part, it just goes to show how tough this team is πŸ’ͺ. But you know what really got me? The fact that they couldn't capitalize on all that hard work and close out the game πŸ€¦β€β™‚οΈ. It's like, I get it, sports are unpredictable and stuff, but still... there's gotta be some sort of magic right now that's gonna carry them through 🎩. Anyway, gotta give props to Ben Johnson for staying positive despite the loss 😊, and to Montez Sweat, Jaquan Brisker, and Dominique Robinson for bringing that heat on the defensive line πŸ”₯!

I'm still trying to wrap my head around this one 😲. 20 points against the Rams? That's crazy! I mean, I know the Bears' defense stepped up big time, but you gotta score some points too, right? πŸ€” It was like they were playing a different game in overtime - Stafford just took over and didn't look back. The Rams' D was solid, no doubt about it, but come on, guys! You can't give up like that in the playoffs. 🚫

omg what a game 😱 the bears' defense was so solid i mean 20 points from the rams is crazy low they should be super proud of their effort! but ugh the way they lost is just heartbreaking πŸ€• coach ben johnson seems like a nice guy but he's gotta do better than that if he wants to keep his job πŸ™„ and stafford was on fire πŸ”₯ 258 yards without any touchdowns or ints is insane how did the bears' offense even come up with an opposing game plan? πŸ€”

man i'm so frustrated for the bears 😩 they had a solid defensive performance but just couldn't close it out 🀯 stafford was on point though πŸ€‘ his 42/42 attempt ratio is insane πŸ”₯ and montez sweat's 4 sacks were a game changer πŸ’₯ but you know how it goes... you have to make those plays when it matters most πŸ‘Ž coach ben johnson said they played hard but just couldn't execute in the end πŸ€·β€β™‚οΈ playoffs can be cruel sometimes πŸ’”

omg can't believe the bears had such a strong defense and still lost 🀯... coach ben johnson is really disappointed and i think he should be lol 20 points isn't bad for the rams πŸ™„ montez sweat, jaquan brisker, and dominique robinson must've been on fire with those 4 sacks πŸ’₯

Ugh, can you believe this? The Bears' defense is like, literally the best thing since sliced bread... yet they still manage to blow it. I mean, 20 points against those Rams? That's a win in my book. And what's up with this Stafford guy? He's like a magician out there, making plays like no one's business. Meanwhile, their own running back can't even get past the 50-yard line without getting tackled for a loss... some things just aren't adding up πŸ€·β€β™‚οΈπŸ’”

I'm literally still trying to process how the Bears blew that one 🀯🐻! Their defense was on fire πŸ”₯, holding the Rams to a season-low 20 points and limiting them to under 30 per game. It's crazy to think they were just one big play away from winning it all 😱. I mean, Matthew Stafford went out there and put up some insane stats without even getting a touchdown 🀯! The four sacks were the highlight of the game for me - Montez Sweat, Jaquan Brisker, and Dominique Robinson all brought the heat πŸ”©! But somehow they just couldn't close it out πŸ’”. I'm still thinking about what could've been... πŸ˜”
