A local bicyclist was tragically killed in a collision with a pickup truck near the University of California, Berkeley campus on Saturday afternoon. According to police, the accident occurred at around 2:50 p.m. at the intersection of Telegraph Avenue and Haste Street.
Witnesses report that the victim, identified as a man in his sixties, was struck by the vehicle and subsequently transported to a local hospital, where he unfortunately succumbed to his injuries. The driver of the pickup truck remained on the scene and is currently cooperating with investigators.
The Berkeley Police Department confirmed that several streets were closed as a result of the incident, including Telegraph Avenue between Haste Street and Dwight Way, and Haste Street between Bowditch Avenue and Dana Street.
