๐Ÿ˜”๐Ÿšจ just heard about this crazy accident near UC Berkeley... poor guy was only 60, you feel? ๐Ÿค• can't believe a collision with a pickup truck would be fatal, hope the driver is okay though ๐Ÿ™ accidents like these make me super anxious to get across the road ๐ŸŒณ anyway, feels bad for the community and all the commuters who had to deal with the traffic mess ๐Ÿš—๐Ÿ’ฅ

I just can't believe this happened in our city ๐Ÿค•... A life cut short like that is just heartbreaking. My heart goes out to the victim's family and loved ones ๐Ÿ’”. It's a reminder that safety on our roads needs to be a priority, especially for cyclists ๐Ÿšดโ€โ™‚๏ธ. I know some people might think bikes are safe because they're not as big of a deal as cars, but accidents can happen so quickly โฑ๏ธ. We need more bike lanes and better infrastructure to protect both drivers and cyclists on our roads ๐Ÿ’ก. It's just common sense ๐Ÿค“. What do you think the city should do to prevent similar incidents in the future?

Sad news ๐Ÿšดโ€โ™‚๏ธ๐Ÿ˜ข. Such senseless accidents happen way too often on our roads. Anyone else think bike lanes are kinda sketchy in the US? Should be easier to navigate without worrying about trucks like that ๐Ÿ˜ฉ. Just a thought, but roads need more safety measures for cyclists ๐Ÿ‘Š.

๐Ÿค• just heard about this... really sad to see another life lost in an accident like this. it's crazy how often these kinds of incidents happen on our roads, especially in areas with heavy foot traffic like university campuses. i feel bad for the victim's family and loved ones, that must be really tough for them right now ๐Ÿค•. the fact that the driver stayed at the scene is a good sign, hopefully they'll be able to piece together what happened and make sure it doesn't happen again soon ๐Ÿ‘.

OMG ๐Ÿคฏ just saw this news about a bicyclist who got hit by a pickup truck near UC Berkeley campus... it's so sad ๐Ÿ˜”. I mean, can't we have some bike lanes or at least more attention to safety on the roads? It's crazy how people don't even notice cyclists when they're riding their bikes ๐Ÿšดโ€โ™‚๏ธ.

And what's up with the streets being closed? I know it's a tragedy and all, but can't we find a way to honor the victim without closing down whole neighborhoods? Telegraph Avenue is my fave place to grab coffee or lunch on the weekends โ˜•๏ธ. Anyway, hoping the police get some answers about what happened and that more cyclists are protected on the roads ๐Ÿš—๐Ÿ’ก

๐Ÿ˜ž just saw this news about the bicyclist who got hit by a pickup truck near UC Berkeley ๐Ÿšดโ€โ™‚๏ธ๐Ÿš— stats are sobering - 6,000+ cyclists killed in US since 2015, with an average of 817 fatalities per year ๐Ÿ“Š. California ranks high among states with highest cycling fatality rates ๐Ÿคฆโ€โ™€๏ธ. also, did you know that most traffic accidents involving cyclists happen at intersections? ๐Ÿšง๐Ÿšจ roads need to be designed with cyclists in mind - more bike lanes and safety features please! ๐Ÿ›‘๏ธ๐Ÿ’ก

๐Ÿ˜” this is so sad.. poor guy was just out for a ride and it's senseless how he got killed... the driver should get a ticket at least ๐Ÿš—๐Ÿ’ฅ if they dont get more serious charges that's not right. what are the city doing about bike lanes? we need more of them around UC Berkeley so stuff like this doesn't happen again ๐Ÿšดโ€โ™‚๏ธ. I remember my dad used to ride his bike to campus back in the 90s and he never had an accident... now it feels like we're driving around at 40mph on a street meant for bikes ๐Ÿคฏ๐Ÿ˜ข

Man, this is just devastating news ๐Ÿค•. Los Angeles may be crazy with traffic, but Berkeley is usually pretty chill, you know? This just goes to show that even in a city like Berkeley, where people are super into being safe and green, accidents can still happen. It's crazy how quickly it happened too - 2:50 pm on a Saturday afternoon... that's when most people are out and about, enjoying the day ๐ŸŒž.

I'm thinking about all those commuters who were on their lunch break or just passing by. They must have been shaken up to see what happened. The driver of that truck seems pretty level-headed for now, so I guess it's a good sign that they're cooperating with the police? Still, accidents like this can really put a scare into people.

We need to keep an eye out for each other on our bikes, you know? Especially around intersections and areas where there's construction or work going on. It's just something we all gotta be aware of. ๐Ÿ˜ž

๐Ÿ˜” just heard about this awful accident in Berkeley... feels like there's not enough attention on cyclists' safety on our roads ๐Ÿšดโ€โ™‚๏ธ๐Ÿ‘ฎโ€โ™€๏ธ. The fact that the driver stayed at the scene is a good sign, but it's also super concerning that it took police so long to respond? ๐Ÿ•ฐ๏ธ. Anyway, condolences to the victim's family and loved ones ๐Ÿ’”. We need to keep pushing for better infrastructure and awareness about road safety, especially in areas like UC Berkeley that have high foot traffic ๐Ÿšถโ€โ™€๏ธ๐Ÿ“š. This incident should be a wake-up call for us all to be more mindful on our roads ๐Ÿš—๐Ÿ’ก.

๐Ÿšดโ€โ™‚๏ธ๐Ÿ˜ฑ Just can't believe this happened on our watch. It's crazy how vulnerable we are when we're sharing the roads with massive trucks like that. I mean, come on, folks! Be aware of your surroundings, especially near university campuses where students and cyclists tend to congregate. ๐Ÿคฆโ€โ™‚๏ธ It's not just about wearing a helmet; it's also about respecting others who might be trying to get somewhere quickly or simply enjoying the ride. I hope the driver is okay...not that it matters, but still, it's good they're cooperating with the authorities ๐Ÿš”

I donโ€™t usually comment but... this is just so sad ๐Ÿค•. I mean, can you imagine being out for a ride on your bike and then suddenly getting hit by a car? It's like, one minute you're cruising along, the next minute you're fighting for your life ๐Ÿ’”. And it's not just the victim who's affected, but also his family and friends who are left to deal with this tragedy ๐Ÿ˜ข.

I've seen some of my friends ride their bikes around Berkeley and it seems really safe, you know? But I guess no place is completely safe from accidents like this ๐Ÿคฆโ€โ™‚๏ธ. I just wish there was more awareness about bike safety and infrastructure around here... maybe that could have prevented something like this from happening ๐Ÿ˜”.

Ugh, this is so sad ๐Ÿค•... I was just thinking about how crazy it is to be riding a bike near a busy road like that. Like, what's the point of having all these new smart roads and stuff if they're not gonna make our streets safer for people who can't just hop in their cars? I mean, I know some guys on the forums are saying we need more automation and AI to deal with accidents, but come on... technology isn't a silver bullet. We need better human interaction and common sense, you know? And what's up with these smart bike lanes that are supposed to be "safer"? They're just gonna make people think they can ride faster or something... nope, not gonna work. Just more lives lost because we can't even get our priorities straight ๐Ÿš—๐Ÿ’”

๐Ÿ˜ž just heard about this tragic accident near UC Berkeley campus... it's so sad! ๐Ÿšดโ€โ™‚๏ธ๐Ÿ’” I mean, can you imagine being a cyclist and having to deal with all these crazy drivers out there? ๐Ÿคฏ Pickup trucks are like, super big and hard to control... I'm no expert but it seems like they need some serious safety features or regulations to prevent accidents like this from happening. ๐Ÿš—๐Ÿ’จ And what's with the police saying the driver is cooperating with investigators? That just doesn't sit right with me... I hope they're taking care of the cyclist's family and loved ones ๐Ÿ‘ช๐ŸŒŸ

Tragedy strikes again in our seemingly safe communities ๐Ÿšจ. The senseless loss of life due to a preventable accident is truly heartbreaking. As we mourn the passing of this cyclist, it's essential to reflect on the need for increased road safety measures and infrastructure improvements. The intersection where this incident occurred appears to be a hot spot for accidents, and it's alarming that more hasn't been done to mitigate these risks.

The fact that the driver remained at the scene and is cooperating with investigators is a positive sign, but we must also acknowledge the inherent biases in our justice system. We need to ensure that all factors are considered when determining liability and punishment. In any case, my thoughts are with the victim's family and loved ones during this incredibly difficult time ๐Ÿ˜”.
