Black Friday shoppers line up overnight waiting for deals at Bass Pro Shops in San Jose

Hundreds of shoppers braved the chill of a San Jose evening to secure deals at Bass Pro Shops on Black Friday, with some lines forming as far back as 7:30 p.m. Thursday night. The store estimated around 450 customers arrived by morning, marking one of their busiest days in recent years.

Some devotees were so determined to snag the best bargains that they spent hours waiting – literally overnight – before even arriving on scene. Many wrapped themselves in blankets and bundled up against the cold as they prepared for a potentially long wait.

Two women from Templeton, California, drove over two hours just to secure their spot among the early birds vying for limited-edition gift cards worth up to $500. The pair's dedication paid off, with one of them exclaiming that they wanted to be part of the first 250 shoppers to score these highly coveted rewards.

Shoppers had the chance to snag incredible deals, including discounts as high as 80% off select items. As for those who arrived early, the reward? A shot at a free gift card – with some prizes valued at upwards of half a thousand dollars.

The crowds outside Bass Pro Shops underscored just how eager consumers are to secure Black Friday bargains this holiday shopping season.

I'm kinda surprised by how crazy people get over those doorbuster deals 🤔. Like, yeah, who doesn't love saving money? But do we really need to go all out and risk getting frostbite or whatever just for a discount on some outdoor gear? And what's with the whole "limited-edition gift card" hype? It feels like people are more stoked about being part of some exclusive club than actually scoring a good deal. Meanwhile, the ones who didn't get there early are just stuck shelling out full price...not exactly the best feeling 😐

omg u gotta be kidding me!!! 2 hours drive for a spot in line? that's crazy talk! i mean, i get it, the gift cards were legit tempting but come on... ppl r literally freezing their bums off out there 🥶😓 and the lines are already forming at 7:30 pm?! what's next, campin' out for the doors to open? anyhoo, looks like bass pro shops is killin it this black friday season 👍

🤔 I'm not surprised people went crazy for those limited-edition gift cards... 80% off is straight fire 💥! But, gotta wonder if it's worth freezing your butt off 🥶 out there for hours on end. I mean, what's the real prize here? A free gift card that might get lost in the sea of offers 🤯? Not to mention, driving two hours just to secure a spot... that's dedication, but also some serious time and gas money ⚠️. Anyways, guess you can't put a price on those coveted rewards 😉!

omg have you guys tried those new fall scented coffee drinks from starbucks?? i went there last weekend and i'm literally obsessed with the pumpkin spice latte but they also have a new hazelnut one that's soooo good 🤩 anyway back to black friday shopping lol i mean what's up with people waiting in line for hours just to get some discounts? aren't there like better ways to spend your time? or is it just the thrill of possibly scoring an 80% discount on something you don't really need that gets them going?

man 450 people lining up 2 days before black friday is wild 🤯 they literally waited for hours in the cold for those sweet discount deals i guess it's a sign of the times, everyone's so desperate for deals 🤑 but at what cost? mental health and all that...anyway, i'm just glad i don't live near california or i'd be tempted to join the madness too 😂

ugh, people can't even wait 15 minutes without stressing themselves out like that 🤯. i mean, sure, the gift cards were worth it for some, but come on, waiting overnight in the cold? that's just ridiculous 💁‍♀️. and what's with all these people showing up hours before the doors open? can't they see their own bank accounts are gonna get hit hard if they keep buying stuff on credit? 🤑 anyway, at least the deals were good for those who made it in... 80% off is no joke 😂.

man i feel u 🤣 ppl are literally crazy for those black friday deals lol 2 hours drive from cali just 4 some gift cards? that's dedication fam 💁‍♀️ but at the same time its like, good for us consumers right? we get some epic discounts and whatnot 😂

😂🛍️ I'm so with those crazy shoppers who waited overnight for the best deals! 2 hours drive from Cali just to get in line? That's dedication! 🚗💨 And I love how some people wrapped themselves up like they were going on a winter camping trip, haha. Meanwhile, getting 80% off is like finding a golden egg! 💥 What's crazy is that it's not even Black Friday yet and the crowds are already out in full force... must be everyone's trying to score those limited-edition gift cards 🎁👍

omg can u believe ppl willing to freeze their bums off 4 a discount? 🤣 like, yeah i get it, savings r cool and all but some of these shoppers took it 2 a whole new level lol! spent the night out in the cold just 2 get a gift card... that's dedication tho. & btw, who needs human interaction when u can get a prize? 🤑 anywayz, guess this is wut people mean by "the hunt" 😂

omg i love how determined ppl r 2 get those exclusive deals!! like, 2 hours drive fr cali 2 templeton 4 a spot in line? that's dedication 💪🏼💕. and the best part? they got to score some epic discounts & free gift cards 🎁👍. i think its awesome how ppl are coming together 2 make black friday so lit 😆. and yeah, the lines may be long, but thats just a small price 2 pay 4 the chance at scoring those sweet deals 💸🎉. can't wait 2 c wht other ppl score on black friday 🤔

😂🤯 I mean, what is wrong with people?! They're literally freezing their butts off for hours just to save $500 on some fishing gear? 🎣 I get it, deals can be tempting, but come on! You could've just stayed home, made yourself a cuppa, and saved the energy. 😴 And what's with the blankets and hot chocolate? It sounds like a winter camping trip in there! 🍂🔥 Did they even think about their families back home worrying sick about them? 🤝

I'm loving how people are willing to brave the cold for those sick discounts 🤑. Like, two hours from Cali just to get in line? That's dedication 💯. And I gotta ask, what's the appeal of scoring a free gift card just because you showed up early? Is it really worth freezing your buns off outside a store at 7:30 p.m.? 🤔 Don't get me wrong, I'm all for getting good deals, but is this Black Friday thing starting to feel more like a competition than a shopping experience? And what about the people who can't make it in person, or those who aren't as fortunate as these early birds? It's making me think that maybe we're putting too much emphasis on getting stuff for the sake of getting it.

omg can u believe ppl wait 2 hours in the cold 4 a chance at like $500 gift cards lol they literally had blankets & everything but i guess its worth it for those sweet deals idk if im that motivated tho

I'm so extra 🤣 these people waiting in line for hours, overnight even! Two hour drive just to get there? I mean, I'm down for a good bargain but that's wild 🤯. And the ones who slept under those blankets? I feel like they're trying out for some kinda extreme endurance test 💪. 80% off is definitely worth braving the cold though, I guess 😂. Maybe I'll stick to online shopping this year and save myself from hypothermia ❄️

I'm not surprised people would freak out for deals like that... 80% off is crazy! 🤯 But, can't we all just chill and shop online? Like, why risk getting hypothermia for a discount? And what's with the $500 gift cards? Is it really worth braving the cold and waiting in line for hours? I get it, some people are willing to go the extra mile, but not everyone has to be like that. Can't we just have one decent sale that doesn't break the internet? 😒

omg, can you even imagine waiting overnight for those limited-edition gift cards lol 🤣. i mean, 2 hours drive just to get there? that's dedication level 10 💯! and now they're literally fighting over a free gift card? it's like they want to prove who's the ultimate Black Friday fan 😂. i guess it's no surprise that Bass Pro Shops had the longest lines ever - people are SO ready for those discounts this year 🛍️. 80% off? that's crazy!

I mean, think about it... people lining up for 8+ hours on the first day of Black Friday? That's some serious loyalty, but also kinda raises questions about consumerism and what drives us to wait in line like that 🤔. Is it just about getting a good deal or is there something more going on? And let's be real, those limited-edition gift cards are basically like tickets to a exclusive club... who do we trust to decide how many people get 'em? It's all about supply and demand, right? But what does that say about our economy and the value we place on consumerism?

😅 I mean, can you blame them tho?! Those people are literally crazy for waiting that long for some discounts 🤣. 2 hours drive from Cali just to get a spot in line? That's dedication! And $500 gift cards? No wonder they were willing to brave the cold ❄️.

It's also kinda crazy how much hype is around these Black Friday deals. I'm more of a "wait until Cyber Monday" kind of person myself, but hey, if you want those savings that badly... 💸. What do you guys think? Are we too obsessed with snagging those sweet discounts? 🤔
