Philadelphia's bagel enthusiasts are in for a treat as D.C.-based Call Your Mother is set to open its first Pennsylvania location in Fishtown this spring or summer. The family-run bakery, known for its unique blend of New York-style and Montreal-inspired bagels, has been making waves on the East Coast since launching at farmers markets in Washington, D.C., back in 2018.
Co-owners Andrew Dana and chefDaniela Moreira drew inspiration from their diverse backgrounds to create a culinary experience that's equal parts Jewish heritage and Argentine flair. The result is a bagel shop that serves up everything from classic smears and proteins to creative toppings and specialty sandwiches.
In a nod to the city's iconic status, Dana and Moreira name-dropped local legends Allen Iverson and Rocky in their recent announcement, as well as Dana's hometown of Mount Airy and his mother. The bakery also boasts a unique pretzel bagel option that will likely find its way onto Philly foodie maps.
The new Fishtown location marks Call Your Mother's first foray into the Keystone State, expanding the company's reach to Maryland, Virginia, Colorado, and now Pennsylvania. Another shop in Chicago's trendy Wicker Park neighborhood is also on the horizon. With this latest addition, bagel lovers can look forward to a fresh take on this beloved breakfast staple.
