Chris Billam-Smith is keen to capitalize on his recent resurgence with a high-profile bout against cruiserweight titleholder Noel Mikaelian, but he hasn't ruled out making a surprise move up to heavyweight to face Deontay Wilder.
The 29-year-old Bournemouth fighter believes that a fight with the former world champion would be an intriguing one and pose no stylistic issues for him, having previously successfully fought punchers at light-heavyweight. Billam-Smith makes Zurdo Ramirez his favorite in their potential cruiserweight showdown but admits he thinks the Mexican can be beaten.
In contrast to his desire to take down Ramirez first, a heavyweight bout against Wilder is more of an "if it happens" proposition for Billam-Smith. However, if that were the case, he believes he could give Wilder a run for his money - and ultimately claims he'd make Zurdo the favourite in their potential clash.
Following a recent strong win over Brandon Glanton, Billam-Smith has stated that while a heavyweight fight is not necessarily on the cards, he would certainly be interested if given the opportunity.
