Did Egg get a Michelin star? Did Super Hans make it to Macedonia? The TV shows that most need a comeback

A number of popular TV shows are crying out for revivals - but which ones do viewers really want to see return?

One show that has been consistently cited as needing an update is Peep Show, which originally aired from 2003-2015. Mark Hawksley and Jeremy "Jez" Usborne's dysfunctional lives have gone on hiatus since the show's conclusion, with fans eagerly awaiting news of their current exploits. Will Mark and Jez still be living together? Have Sophie and Super Hans kept in touch? And what ever happened to Super Hans' plans to open a moped rental business in Macedonia?

Green Wing is another classic comedy that has been given the thumbs down by its creator Joanna Clore, who believes that her show should have avoided becoming "sad" towards the end of its run. Fans agree and would love to see more visual and physical comedy return to their screens.

The 70s sitcom Sapphire & Steel also deserves a comeback. This intelligent spy drama captivated audiences when it originally aired from 1979-1982 and could easily be revived with the right cast. Writer creator Anthony Horowitz has moved on, but fans would love to see Joanna Lumley reprise her role as Detective Superintendent Sandra Gray.

Deadwood is another western that has a huge following - its intricate characters and gritty storylines made it one of TV's greatest shows in 2004-06. The post-apocalyptic world it created remains as captivating now as when the series originally aired, so fans would love to see more from this great show.

The BBC's Foyle's War is often cited as the best historical drama ever produced, but its creators were thwarted by executives who cancelled and re-commissioned it twice. Fans remain hopeful that the writers could bring back a young Foyle in a prequel series.

Jeremy Clarkson and James May left Top Gear in 2002-22 after being replaced by Chris Evans. With his return now possible along with Jack Scarlett, Alex from YouTube, and Richard's daughter Izzy Hammond, the show could be a huge success once again - it just needs to stick to its roots in news reviews.

The sci-fi classic Firefly is widely regarded as one of TV's greatest shows ever made, but like Peep Show, there have been no updates on what the characters are up to these days. With the collapse and civil war US depicted in The Peripheral series a far more prescient commentary today than when the show was originally broadcast, this must surely be brought back.

This Life captured post-uni life so well 25 years ago but would need an update with new issues - such as student loans, AI growth and social media toxicity.

omg i feel like peep show is like totally due for a revival!! i mean who wouldn't wanna see mark and jez's antics again ๐Ÿคฃ and sophie's sassiness? green wing too needs some love, those british doctors were so hilarious and it would be great to see more physical comedy. sapphire & steel is another one that should def get a comeback, joanna lumley as det superintendent gray would still slay after all these years ๐Ÿ’โ€โ™€๏ธ deadwood's world is still so captivating and i'd love to see more from that show. firefly too! it's like the perfect blend of sci-fi and drama. the peripheral series is giving me all the same feels and that's why firefly needs a revival ASAP ๐Ÿš€

omg i was watching a documentary on ancient macedonia recently ๐Ÿคฏ and it got me thinking about super hans' moped rental business lol he never did end up starting it though i wonder if the macedonian winters would be too harsh for all those mopeds ๐Ÿ˜‚ anyway, back to tv revivals... have you guys seen that new netflix series about AI gone wrong? ๐Ÿค– it's kinda similar to this life but with more sci-fi elements what do you think would make an update to this life worth watching? ๐Ÿค”

I feel like we gotta learn to appreciate what's already been done instead of constantly chasing after the next big thing ๐Ÿค”. I mean, think about it, all these classic shows have been around for a while, but some fans are still holding out hope for revivals. It's like, can't we just enjoy the stories as they were meant to be enjoyed? Some shows just need to be left in the past, you know? Like Peep Show, for example - it was great back in its time, but I don't think revisiting Mark and Jez's lives would bring anything new to the table. Maybe we should focus on supporting new creators instead of relying on nostalgia all the time ๐Ÿ“บ

OMG u guys ๐Ÿคฏ Peep Show defo needs a revival ASAP! I mean who doesn't wanna see what's up with Mark & Jez's current shenanigans? ๐Ÿ˜‚ And can we pls get more of Super Hans' moped rental business in Macedonia?! That's the kinda crazy life I'm talking about ๐Ÿšดโ€โ™‚๏ธ๐ŸŒ Firefly is like, the ultimate sci-fi show and it's high time they brought back Mal & River ๐Ÿš€๐Ÿ’ซ Sapphire & Steel is another fave that needs a comeback - Joanna Lumley as Detective Gray would be EVERYTHING ๐Ÿ‘ฎโ€โ™€๏ธ๐Ÿ”

I donโ€™t usually comment butโ€ฆ it's crazy to think some of these shows have been gone for ages and fans are still super invested! Firefly is a no-brainer revamp - the world we're living in now with climate change and social unrest would've fit so perfectly into the show. Can you imagine River Tam taking on the world today? ๐Ÿคฏ I'm also kinda down for a Deadwood revival, those characters were so complex and raw. The 70s vibes from Sapphire & Steel are also a great idea - Joanna Lumley is still got that iconic presence. And Top Gear needs to come back too! Clarkson and May's banter was the best part of the show ๐Ÿ˜‚. One thing I'd love to see is some new takes on classic shows like The IT Crowd or The Office (US) though, not just revivals but reimaginings with modern themes ๐Ÿ“บ

OMG, I'm literally so down for a Peep Show revival! ๐Ÿคฏ Mark and Jez's antics were the best, and I need to know what happened next in their lives ๐Ÿ˜‚. Green Wing needs more visual comedy too, it was such a genius show ๐Ÿคฃ. And can we please get Sapphire & Steel back on our screens? Joanna Lumley as Sandra Gray would be amazing ๐Ÿ’โ€โ™€๏ธ! Deadwood is another great western that's still got so much potential ๐ŸŽญ.

I'm also super excited about the possibility of a Top Gear reboot, especially with Jeremy Clarkson and James May returning ๐Ÿš—๐Ÿ‘Š. And Firefly? That show was just SO ahead of its time ๐Ÿ”ฅ. It's crazy how relevant it is now. This Life was also such an iconic show that captured post-uni life so perfectly ๐Ÿ˜‚. A modern update would be amazing, especially with the issues we're facing today ๐Ÿค”.

What do you guys think? Which shows should get revived first? ๐Ÿ“บ๐Ÿ’ฌ

๐Ÿค” I think it's high time for Peep Show to return with a bang, given the current state of British relationships and the complexities of modern life ๐Ÿ“ฑ๐Ÿ’ธ. Green Wing is another excellent candidate for revival, with its sharp satire still resonating today ๐Ÿ˜‚. As for Sapphire & Steel, I agree that Joanna Lumley would be an idealDetective Superintendent Sandra Gray to reprise her role, bringing a sense of authenticity and gravitas to the character ๐Ÿ‘ฎโ€โ™€๏ธ.

Deadwood's world is indeed captivating, but I'm not convinced it needs a revival - the show's success was largely due to its original run and the characters' unique dynamics ๐Ÿคฏ. Foyle's War remains an outstanding historical drama, and a prequel series with a young Michael Kitchen as Foyle could be fascinating ๐Ÿ”.

The possibility of Top Gear returning is exciting, but let's not forget that the show's core spirit lies in news reviews and debate - they need to stay true to its roots ๐Ÿ“ฐ. Firefly's themes are eerily prescient for today's world, making it a perfect candidate for revival โš”๏ธ. And as for The Life, I'd love to see an update on modern student loans and AI growth, but perhaps it could tackle more pressing issues like mental health and social media toxicity ๐Ÿ“ˆ.

I gotta say, I'm like totally confused about which shows are even worth reviving at this point ๐Ÿคฏ. Like, Peep Show is all old news... it ended ages ago (2003-2015) so what's the rush? And Green Wing was literally cancelled for a reason - the show got too "sad" according to its creator and that's kinda the point of art, right?

And Sapphire & Steel just rehashed the same plot over and over again in its revival attempts. Can't they try something new for once? Deadwood is still pretty popular, I guess... but if it was good back in 2004-06, what makes anyone think a revival would be better now?

Firefly's gotta happen though - that show is like the ultimate sci-fi masterpiece ๐Ÿš€ and The Peripheral series was SO prescient about our current world issues. But come on, how about we give Peep Show (or whatever) its own reboot with some actual progress? This Life had some great moments 25 years ago but student loans and AI growth are totally different now... it's like they're expecting us to magically know how all this stuff works just because it's been in the news ๐Ÿ™„.

By the way, Top Gear needs to come back already! But only if they can get Jeremy Clarkson back behind the wheel... no Chris Evans for me ๐Ÿ˜‚

I think it's high time for a few of these oldies to make a comeback ๐Ÿค”. I mean, who doesn't want to see more Peep Show shenanigans or the return of Sapphire & Steel with Joanna Lumley back as Detective Superintendent Gray? ๐Ÿ•ต๏ธโ€โ™€๏ธ The original Firefly series was so ahead of its time, and it's crazy that we don't have a revival by now. And let's be real, The Peripheral's themes are super relevant today - it'd be amazing to see how the characters deal with the current state of society. Plus, Jeremy Clarkson's return to Top Gear could bring back some old-school fun ๐Ÿš—.

I feel like some of these shows have been crying out for a comeback for ages! Like, I'm all for revisiting Peep Show, especially now that the cast is still young enough to keep up with each other's antics ๐Ÿคฃ. And can you imagine Joanna Lumley reprising her role as Detective Superintendent Sandra Gray in Sapphire & Steel? That would be amazing! ๐Ÿ˜

I'm also surprised no one has mentioned The IT Crowd yet - it was such a cult classic and I think its return would be fantastic. And don't even get me started on Deadwood, that show is still so addictive to this day ๐Ÿคฏ.

As for Firefly, I know some of the cast members have been pretty vocal about wanting a revival, but I'm also not sure if it's possible given the original series was only 14 episodes long ๐Ÿค”. Maybe a mini-series or something? That would be amazing though!

But you know what would be even better than just reviving these shows? Seeing some new ones that tackle modern issues like social media toxicity and student loans - that's what I want to see on TV right now! ๐Ÿ˜’๐Ÿ’ป

I'm loving all these revivals ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ’ฅ. I think we should bring back Peep Show ASAP, it was genius! ๐Ÿคฃ Those two are like brothers, their dynamic is still gold even after all these years. And can you imagine Joanna Lumley reprising her role in Sapphire & Steel? ๐Ÿ’โ€โ™€๏ธ That would be amazing!

But seriously, the sci-fi community has been asking for Firefly to return for ages and it's about time ๐Ÿš€. The Peripheral series was actually really good at predicting current issues, so I think we need a Firefly revival ASAP. And Top Gear needs to get back to its roots - news reviews were what made it great in the first place ๐Ÿ“ฐ.

And what's up with all these revivals? Did we just get bored of watching new shows or do our favorite old ones really still hold up? ๐Ÿค” Either way, I'm here for it.

I think reviving Peep Show is a good idea, but I'm not sure if it'll work without the original creators behind the scenes ๐Ÿค”. The show's dark humor was a big part of its appeal, so I don't want them to try to recapture that magic. Maybe they could get some younger writers involved to bring fresh perspectives?

And omg, Firefly is literally my all-time fave show! It'd be amazing if it got revived, but I'm not sure how they'll do it without the original cast and crew ๐Ÿš€. They've gotta find a way to make Joss Whedon's universe work in today's TV landscape.

I'm with you on Sapphire & Steel though - Joanna Lumley was amazing as Detective Superintendent Gray, and I'd love to see her back as the lead character ๐Ÿ‘ฎโ€โ™€๏ธ. The 70s setting is so iconic, it'd be great to bring that period back to life on screen.

But let's be real, if they do revive Firefly or Deadwood, there's gotta be a strong plan in place to make sure the new seasons are just as good, if not better ๐Ÿคž. Can't just rely on nostalgia alone!

I think it's crazy how many shows are crying out for revivals ๐Ÿคฏ. Like, Peep Show is so iconic that even if the writers were to pick up where they left off 10 years ago, I'm sure fans would still be super invested in what's going on with Mark and Jez ๐Ÿ“บ. And can you imagine seeing Joanna Lumley reprise her role as Sandra Gray again? The girl just exudes class ๐Ÿ’โ€โ™€๏ธ.

I also think it's really interesting that some of the most beloved shows like Deadwood and Firefly have massive followings but haven't had any updates in ages ๐Ÿ”ฅ. It's like, what happened to the characters we love? Did they all just get on with their lives or something?

And I know some people might say that TV just isn't as good as it used to be ๐Ÿคทโ€โ™‚๏ธ, but for me, there are still so many amazing shows out there right now. It's just a matter of finding the ones that resonate with you and giving them the love they deserve โค๏ธ.

What do you guys think? Are there any TV shows that you desperately want to see revived or started anew? Let's get the conversation going! ๐Ÿ’ฌ

Wow ๐Ÿ˜‚ Firefly is like a total blast from the past! I remember watching it back in the day and just dying for more. The characters were so well developed and Joss Whedon's writing was on point. Bringing it back now would be amazing, especially with how relevant it is to today's society ๐Ÿค–๐Ÿ’ป

I'm low-key obsessed with Firefly rn ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿš€ it's crazy how timeless Joss Whedon's writing is! Like what's up with Mal & River's storyline? Did they ever find their way back to Serenity? I need an update on the crew ASAP ๐Ÿค”๐Ÿ’ซ and btw, The Peripheral series was so thought-provoking... I'm all for bringing Firefly back ๐Ÿ’ฅ
