DJ Quik’s Son Convicted of Murder, Facing 40 Years in Prison

Los Angeles Suburb Sees Deadly Confrontation When DJ Quik's Son is Convicted of Murder - 40 Years in Prison Looms Over Him.

David Marvin Blake Jr., the son of legendary producer DJ Quik, has been found guilty of second-degree murder after shooting and killing his friend Julio Moises Cardoza Jr. in a high-speed car chase last year. The victim was shot multiple times at close range before fleeing the scene.

The Los Angeles District Attorney's Office announced that Blake had been convicted on several counts including shooting from a motor vehicle, which carries an additional 20 years to life in prison. He now faces up to 40 years to life behind bars for his role in Cardoza's death.

A fan took to social media recently saying that DJ Quik was "who everyone thinks Dr. Dre is" prompting the producer to fire back with a statement addressing their comments on their rivalry.

The incident occurred last year in Downey, California - a suburb just outside of Los Angeles. Authorities initially arrested Blake, 27 years old at the time, after he fled the scene; Cardoza died shortly after from his injuries at a hospital later that day.

Blake's lawyer had argued earlier that they should have more lenient sentencing due to their age and lack of prior convictions.

🤔 This whole thing is just crazy, you feel me? Like, I get that everyone makes mistakes, but 40 years in prison for a high-speed car chase gone wrong? That's a lot to ask from someone who's still young. The fact that David Marvin Blake Jr. had no prior convictions or anything to show for his age should've counted for something in the sentencing... it's just not right. 🚫 And what about DJ Quik's statement about Dr. Dre, does that even matter at this point? It's all just a lot of drama and attention on Blake, who's going through a really tough time with his own guilt and all. We should be trying to help him find peace rather than piling more pressure on him... 🤷‍♂️

OMG 🤯 just heard about DJ Quik's son gettin 40 yrs in prison for murder I'm still tryna process this... can't believe a youngin' like him is facin so much heat for somethin he said in a split second... feels bad for the family, esp his dad DJ Quik 🙏. I mean, we all know how intense things got between Dr Dre and DJ Quik back in the day... guess you could say this just got real life tho 🚗💀. What's the world comin to when our celebs are dealin with this kind of drama?

Man, this is like such a sad story 🤕. I'm all about giving people second chances, you know? Blake was 27, just starting his life, and now he's facing up to 40 years in prison... it's crazy. It makes me wonder if the system is too harsh sometimes. Was Julio's death even worth that kind of punishment? Like, they were friends, right? They had a fight, but murder? That seems excessive to me 🤔. And can we talk about how this is gonna affect Blake's life after he gets out? He'll be in his 50s before he's eligible for parole... it's like, what even is that doing to him?

🤯 I'm so shocked about what happened with DJ Quik's son, man... 40 years in prison is insane! It feels like it's way too harsh for something that was just a high-speed car chase gone wrong. I mean, I get that Blake shot his friend, but the dude had no intention of killing him, right? 🚗💨

It's crazy how much pressure there is to be perfect all the time, especially when you're young and new to this whole thing. 27 years old is not even old for getting in a fight, let alone killing someone... 😔 My heart goes out to Julio Moises Cardoza Jr.'s family, that's just devastating.

And what's with the drama between DJ Quik and some fan who said his son was like Dr. Dre? 🙄 I get it, some fans have strong opinions, but come on! DJ Quik just fired back with a statement, which is cool, but not really relevant to this whole murder thing... 💁‍♀️

Blimey 🤯, 40 years in prison is like, forever, right? 😂 I mean, I've listened to DJ Quik's beats for years and thought he was the king of G-Funk 👑... until now! Just kidding, sorta 😜. But seriously, this is really harsh. Can you imagine having that much time stuck in a cell? It's like being stuck on repeat on your fave podcast 📻. Anyway, I'm sure DJ Quik and his fans are feeling the vibe right about now 🤕. Maybe he should just put out an album about it called "Life Sentence" 🎶.

Man I'm still trying to wrap my head around this... 40 years in prison is a whole lotta time 🤯 for something that could've been avoided if only his friend didn't get into a high-speed chase with him. It's crazy how things can escalate so quickly and lead to tragic consequences 😱. And the fact that DJ Quik is now having to deal with this too, as a parent, it must be devastating for him 🤕. I feel bad for Julio's family too, they'll be living with this pain for years to come 💔. It just goes to show how quickly things can spiral out of control when emotions are running high 🚗💥

OMG 🤯 this is wild! like, 40 years in prison for a second-degree murder charge? it's so harsh, you feel me? 🤔 especially considering Blake's youth and no prior record. the fact that he was involved in a high-speed car chase and shot his friend multiple times at close range is just devastating 💔. i'm all about fairness in sentencing, but this one feels like it could be too much. what do you think, should he get some kinda leniency due to his age and circumstances? 🤷‍♀️ #JusticeForBlake #SecondDegreeMurder #FairSentencing #CarChaseGoneWrong

man i was just thinking about my favorite food truck in LA it has the best Korean BBQ tacos 🤯 i mean who would've thought you could put kimchi on a taco 😂 anyway back to DJ Quik's son, 40 years in prison is like forever lol but seriously how hard can it be to not shoot your friend in a car chase? 🚗💥 i feel bad for the victim's family tho 🙏 and yeah that fan comment about Dr. Dre was kinda rich tbh 🤷‍♂️

🤕 this is so sad - DJ Quik's son getting 40 yrs in prison over a senseless killing 😱 what was going through that kid's mind? it's like he just snapped on his friend and drove away... and now the community is left to deal with the aftermath 🌫️ as for the fan saying DJ Quik is "who everyone thinks Dr. Dre is"... yeah, I get why they'd say that - both are legends in their own right 💥 but at the end of the day, Blake's actions were reckless and devastating 🚗💔

OMG u guys!!! 😱 David Marvin Blake Jr is gonna spend 40 yrs in prison for what he did to Julio Cardoza?!?! That's just so sad 🤕. I mean I know his dad DJ Quik is a legend but this is not the kind of news we need 🙅‍♂️. The kid was already 27 and had no priors, so why is it gonna be so harsh on him? 🤔 His lawyer said he's young and all that but I feel bad for Cardoza's family too 💔. It's just another reminder that these high-speed chases are so reckless and deadly 🚗💥. Anywayz I hope DJ Quik can support his son thru this tough time 👊.

OMG, this is so sad 🤕. Like, can't you imagine being the son of DJ Quik, the legendary producer, and then facing all these serious charges? It's like, your whole life is being scrutinized because of one mistake... I feel bad for David Marvin Blake Jr. He's going to have to deal with this for the rest of his life. And it's crazy how a car chase can turn into something so deadly 🚗💀. My mind is trying to think of all the possible scenarios that led up to that moment, but I guess we'll never know for sure. Anyway, my thoughts are with Blake and his family during this tough time 😔.

man... this is just crazy 🤯. I'm still trying to wrap my head around it, dj quick's son gets convicted of murder & now he's looking at 40 years in prison lol what a wild ride his life must've been 🚗💨 anyway, i feel bad for the victim's family, Julio Moises Cardoza Jr. was just a dude trying to get away from the situation and ends up getting shot multiple times... it's just senseless violence, you know? 🤕 and now blake's gotta deal with this drama in his life too, being the son of dj quick or whatever 💁‍♂️ it's like, yeah he's got a famous dad, but that don't excuse him from committing murder or anything 😐 anyway, i hope he gets the help he needs in prison, 'cause 40 years is a long time 🕰️.

This whole thing is just so sad 🤕... I mean, DJ Quik's son gets convicted of murder and now he's gonna be locked up for decades? Like, what can you even do with a life sentence? It's not fair to the kid or his family. And for what? A high-speed car chase that ended in someone's death? Can we talk about how reckless that was instead of dwelling on the punishment? I'm all for accountability, but it feels like this is just perpetuating a cycle of violence...

I'm like totally shocked that DJ Quik's son is going down for 40 years 🤯😱, but on the other hand, I gotta think about it... is he really that guilty? 😐 I mean, he did shoot his friend in a car chase and all, but was it really worth the death penalty? 🤔 And what's up with the whole fan comment thing? Like, can't we just have a peaceful conversation about our favorite rappers without beefing each other out? 🙄 I'm all for holding people accountable for their actions, but sometimes I think we need to take a step back and look at the bigger picture... or maybe I'm just being too lenient? 🤷‍♂️ 20 years to life is still pretty harsh, though 😳.

😔 this is so sad 40 yrs in prison is a lot 💔 david marvin blake jr needs help & support 🤗 dj quick & his family must be going thru hell right now 😭 cant imagine loosing ur child 😕 at least the police did there job & brought justice to julio's fam 💪 but how can we prevent this in the future? more mental health services pls 👍

.. can't believe this is where life takes some people 🤕. I mean, DJ Quik's kid, who's supposed to be living his best life, ends up in a situation like this. It's just tragic. You gotta wonder what went wrong, you know? His lawyer trying to argue for leniency because he's young and has no priors... it's all well and good, but at the end of the day, two lives were lost. It's not about being tough on him or anything, it's just about justice being served 🕊️.

I'm not sure what's more shocking - the fact that Blake was found guilty or how fast things escalated in that car chase. I mean, multiple shots fired, a high-speed chase... it's like something out of a movie. But at the end of the day, life doesn't work that way, sadly 😔. Anyway, 40 years is a long time - he'll have plenty of time to reflect on what happened and figure out how to make a change for himself 🤯.

OMG, 40 yrs in prison is SO harsh 🤯! I mean, I get it, his friend did die but come on, he was only 27 💔. I feel for his fam, gotta be really tough right now 😩. What's even crazier is that this happened like last year and already the son of a legend is serving major time 🤯. Not saying he's innocent or anything, but it's just a whole lot to ask from someone who was barely out of college 🎓. And can we talk about how his dad reacted? I saw that statement he dropped about Dr Dre and DJ Quik being rivals, like, what even is that 🤷‍♂️. It's all drama 💁‍♀️, my mind is blown 👀

Man, this whole situation with DJ Quik's son is just so eye-opening 🤯... It makes you realize how quickly life can change for the worse, especially when it comes to youthful decisions gone wrong. I mean, 27 years old, having his whole life ahead of him, and yet he's staring down a 40-year sentence for a mistake that'll likely define him for the rest of his life.

It's like, we all make choices that lead us astray, but it's how we learn from those mistakes that really matters. The fact that Blake was young with no prior convictions shows he had potential to turn things around, but instead, he let impulsive decisions take over 🚗💔. Now, his life will be forever changed, and his family has to deal with the aftermath.

This story's a reminder that consequences are real, and we gotta own up to our actions. We can't just sit back and expect everything to work out; we gotta put in the effort to make better choices 🤓💪. Blake might have a long road ahead of him, but it's not too late for him to learn from his mistakes and try to turn things around – he can still use this as a chance to grow and become an even stronger person 💕.
