Los Angeles Suburb Sees Deadly Confrontation When DJ Quik's Son is Convicted of Murder - 40 Years in Prison Looms Over Him.
David Marvin Blake Jr., the son of legendary producer DJ Quik, has been found guilty of second-degree murder after shooting and killing his friend Julio Moises Cardoza Jr. in a high-speed car chase last year. The victim was shot multiple times at close range before fleeing the scene.
The Los Angeles District Attorney's Office announced that Blake had been convicted on several counts including shooting from a motor vehicle, which carries an additional 20 years to life in prison. He now faces up to 40 years to life behind bars for his role in Cardoza's death.
A fan took to social media recently saying that DJ Quik was "who everyone thinks Dr. Dre is" prompting the producer to fire back with a statement addressing their comments on their rivalry.
The incident occurred last year in Downey, California - a suburb just outside of Los Angeles. Authorities initially arrested Blake, 27 years old at the time, after he fled the scene; Cardoza died shortly after from his injuries at a hospital later that day.
Blake's lawyer had argued earlier that they should have more lenient sentencing due to their age and lack of prior convictions.
