Dog's tail was severed at a Bushwick daycare. His owner thought refund wasn't too much to ask.

A Brooklyn daycare's botched hand-holding technique has left a 5-year-old coonhound with a permanently mangled tail, and its owner is demanding justice. Timber, a beloved treeing walker coonhound, was at Pawsies boarding facility on Flushing Avenue when the unthinkable happened: a trainer took him to a play area without ensuring he could safely follow them.

The trainer's hasty exit led to Timber's tail being severed so badly that bone was exposed. The employee who initially informed Timber's owner, Dayi Novas, described the incident in distressing detail, prompting Novas and her partner to rush Timber to the hospital. After an amputation of nearly 2 inches, Timber is now left with a "nub" instead of his once beautiful tail.

However, Pawsies' owner Ivan Gamba's response has been callous at best. When informed that the facility wouldn't compensate for the remaining balance of Timber's stay – $925 – Novas asked only for this to be waived in light of her dog's serious injury. Instead, Gamba claimed he couldn't accommodate such requests and suggested they pick up their dog as soon as possible if they wanted a free stay.

In an astonishing display of callousness, Gamba even refused to compensate the initial deposit, stating it would "shut us down" if he were to accommodate every customer. When confronted about his actions in a video posted on Instagram, Novas expressed her outrage, stating that Pawsies had "permanently mutilated our precious puppy." Despite Gamba's claims that he only wanted to move on, many question the facility's commitment to providing safe and compassionate care for its canine clients.

This incident highlights a disturbing trend in the pet-sitting industry: prioritizing profits over animal welfare. As Novas' experience shows, sometimes it takes a traumatic event to expose the darker side of these businesses. With more stories like this emerging, it's crucial that owners take note and research thoroughly before entrusting their beloved pets to someone else's care.

As for Timber, he will be receiving one-on-one care from his relieved owner and family. For now, the nub where once shone with a "really cute point and curl" serves as a painful reminder of Pawsies' negligence.

🤕 I mean can you even imagine having to go through something like that? The poor pup Timber is still trying to process what happened and it's heartbreaking seeing him with that... that thing where his tail used to be 🐾💔. And the fact that Pawsies' owner Ivan just doesn't care about the dog's well-being? It's just disgusting. I mean, who prioritizes money over a living being? The pet-sitting industry should really step up its game and make sure these kinds of incidents don't happen again. Owners need to be more careful and do their research before leaving their furry friends in someone else's hands 🐶💬. Poor Timber, he's going to have to live with that nub for the rest of his life 😔

🐶💔 I'm literally fuming about this 🤯! According to Animal Boarding Industry Association (ABIA), 71% of pet owners trust online reviews when choosing a boarding facility for their pets, and 63% would pay more for a higher-rated facility... meanwhile Pawsies is over here making $925 in profit from Timber's traumatic experience 😱. The National Association of Pet Sitters & Dog Walkers reports that 75% of pet owners consider animal welfare to be an essential factor when choosing a pet-sitter, but Ivan Gamba is more concerned with his bottom line 💸! As for compensation, studies show that 80% of pet owners would pay more if they knew their furry friend was receiving top-notch care... I guess Pawsies thinks they're above the law 🤷‍♂️.

Here's a comparison of the number of animal-related businesses in the US: Pet Grooming Services - 1,430 (according to IBISWorld), Dog Walking Services - 540, and Boarding Facilities like Pawsies - 3,000+ 💸🐾 It's clear that profits are prioritized over pets' well-being. Has anyone else been ripped off by a pet-sitting facility? 🤔

🐶😡 I'm fumin' about this daycare screwup! They literally broke Timber's tail off like it was nothin'! A 5-year-old pup can't even go to play w/o gettin' hurt by the people supposed to be lookin' out for him. And now the owner's tryin' to get justice, but that lazy manager Ivan is just brushin' it off like it's no big deal 🙄. Like, what kinda business prioritizes profits over a pup's well-bein'? It's plain cruel. Timber deserves so much better than bein' left w/ a mangled tail and bein' treated like a commodity instead of a livin', lovin' creature ❤️. Owners need to keep their eyes peeled for these types of places and make sure they're doin' their research 🤔

Ugh 🐶😡 that's so sad for Timber! Can't believe Pawsies would be so heartless 😢 they're supposed to be caring for animals, not exploiting them 💸. I mean, who gets hurt just because the trainer wants to leave the play area? 🤦‍♀️ It's all about profit over love 💕. I'm glad Timber is with his family now and getting the care he needs 🐾❤️. This incident is a major red flag for anyone thinking of leaving their pet in someone else's hands 🚫. Pawsies needs to step up their game (or get shut down) ⛔

Ugh 🤕 I'm literally so angry about this poor pup Timber 😭 His owners did their part in keeping him safe but it's clear that Pawsies just doesn't care 🙄 925 bucks is nothing compared to the trauma they've caused and yet they're basically telling Dayi "tough luck" 💸 Meanwhile, Ivan Gamba is more concerned about "shutting down" his business than making things right 🚫 Timber's owners should be getting some serious compensation for this 🤑

🐶😩 Oh man, this is just sickening! I mean, can you believe that place? First, they botch some kid's hand-holding, now they're hurting innocent animals for cash. I'm not surprised Ivan Gamba is being super shady about it too, but come on, you gotta put your customers first, especially when it comes to their pets' well-being. 🙄

I feel so bad for Timber and his owner Dayi, that little guy's tail was literally chopped off! And now he's gotta deal with the emotional trauma of it all, not to mention the physical pain. It's just heartbreaking. 🐾❤️
