Eagles Escape Lions After Controversial Pass Interference Call: ‘Absolutely Terrible’

The Eagles managed to escape with another tight win on Sunday night, but not without some help from the refs. With the Lions down by seven points with less than two minutes left in the fourth quarter, Detroit cornerback Rock Ya-Sin was called for a highly disputed defensive pass interference call as he defended Eagles wide receiver AJ Brown during a Jalen Hurts incompletion on a third-and-8 play from the Philly 37-yard line.

The call significantly altered the momentum of the game, as it allowed the Eagles to pick up a fresh set of downs at their own 45-yard line. The team was able to run out the clock and secure a 16-9 victory at home.

"I'm absolutely terrible," NBC game analyst Cris Collinsworth said on the "Sunday Night Football" broadcast after reviewing the play. "That is an absolutely terrible call that is going to decide this football game."

The Lions' offense struggled throughout the game, while the Eagles' offense managed to find some rhythm. Jalen Hurts was 14-for-28 with 135 yards and a rushing touchdown, and AJ Brown led the team's receivers with seven catches and 49 yards.

Despite their struggles on offense, the Lions were able to keep things close early on, but ultimately fell short due in large part to the questionable pass interference call. The loss puts the Lions at 6-4, while the Eagles improve to 6-4 as well, falling just a half-game behind the top team in the NFC North.

The controversy surrounding the call will likely be debated for weeks to come, but one thing is clear: it had a significant impact on the outcome of the game.

🤔 omg did u see that pass interference call tho?! 🙅‍♂️ i think cris collinsworth was lowkey right... 👀 that was a huge turning point in the game and it's still hard to believe they called it like that 😬 the lions were already struggling so much on offense, but that call just added insult to injury 💔

I'm so done with these refs 😒. Like, can't they just make one right call without messing up the whole game? This pass interference call was ridiculous 🤯. I mean, I know it's not always easy for them, but come on! They have replay reviews and everything. It's like, use that technology to your advantage! 👍 Instead, they're just going to mess with our heads like this. And now the Lions are crying foul, which is totally understandable 🤷‍♂️. I mean, who wouldn't be angry if they got screwed over by a call like that? The Eagles might have won, but it was definitely not fair 💔.

omg that ref crew is literally clueless ! 🤦‍♂️ they just cost their own team the game, and now ppl are already saying its gonna affect playoffs seeding 🤯 6-4? come on lions, u got robbed . i feel so bad for rock ya sin, he was just trying to do his job. 😩 AJ brown is a beast tho, i love how he stepped up when it mattered most 💪

OMG, are u kidding me?! 🤯 That PI call was straight up sketchy! 😒 The refs literally just handed the Eagles an extra set of downs and changed the game in a heartbeat. I mean, how hard is it to spot that play? 🤔 The Lions had this one in the bag and then BAM! Refs ruin it for them.

And Cris Collinsworth is right, what a terrible call! 😡 It's gonna be one of those plays where everyone will be like "oh yeah I saw it too" years later. Meanwhile, Jalen Hurts just rolled with it and led his team to victory. That's what winners do, not refs. 🏈

OMG what's up with these refs they're literally ruining games 🤯 I'm talking about that pass interference call last night... completely ridiculous! One minute the Lions are looking all confident and then out of nowhere Rock Ya-Sin is getting flagged for holding, and suddenly it's like a Hail Mary to get back in the game. Like how did they even miss on that one? 🤔 The Eagles were already winning by 7 points, what more did the Lions need?! 🤷‍♂️ It's gonna be one of those plays where you're watching it for the 100th time and still can't believe what happened.

Ugh, refs are the worst! 🤦‍♂️ I'm so frustrated about that pass interference call in the 4th quarter. It's like they're trying to make the Eagles win or something. I mean, come on, Rock Ya-Sin was not holding AJ Brown, he just jumped in and tried to break up the throw. And now the game is all over because of it? Not cool, refs! 🚫

I'm loving Jalen Hurts' performance, though. He's a total boss out there. And AJ Brown, what can I say? He's on fire! 😂 But seriously, if they can't get their offense going without the refs' help, we're in trouble.

And honestly, it's kinda funny that Cris Collinsworth is saying he's "absolutely terrible" for calling that play. Like, dude, you're a pro, what do you know about pass interference? 😂
