England football: The great number nine decline - where have English strikers gone?

I'm so worried about the English team lol they're getting thrashed everywhere rn I mean what's wrong with having a top striker like Kane? he's still scoring goals for fun but you need players around him who can make a difference too, you know? like Rashford and Saka are great but they need some proper wingers to support them

I don't get why everyone's saying two strikers is not an option anymore... it worked for England in the past and it can work now lol what's changed? maybe we just need some new ideas or something

can't believe these old players are still complaining . like alan shearer and gary mcallister are saying we need two strikers but what about everyone else? defense is weak, midfield is a mess... lets not forget the rest of the team . michael owen makes a point tho, those old-school wingers were geniuses at creating chances... why can't we have that now? wide forwards are scoring goals but they're not creating opportunities for others. it's all about strategy and chemistry in this game .

im think its crazy how old-school wingers are being left out of the equation here . Rashford and Saka may be scoring more goals than ever before, but that dont mean we should forget about having someone who can bring others into play... like a winger! it would make our team way more balanced. id love to see them experiment with different formations and player positions. maybe we could even have a "false nine" who is actually a midfielder . the idea of only having two strikers is so limiting imo

I think its time they mix things up a bit ! I mean, Rashford and Saka are killing it out there but we can't just keep putting all our eggs in one basket, right? We need some width and pace, and some midfield presence to bring others into play. I don't get why everyone's so stuck on traditional strikers vs wide forwards. Can't they see that this modern game is all about fluidity and movement? And what about those lads who can play off other players like Owen said? They're the ones missing from our squad, if you ask me...

Ugh, I'm getting so sick of these 'modern' football teams just relying on one striker to do all the damage . I mean, I get it, having a dominant player like Harry Kane is a win-win, but it's not sustainable in the long run. And don't even get me started on how bare the rest of the squad looks . It's like they're just patching up the holes with some mediocre players and hoping for the best.

I'm all for innovation, but sometimes I think we forget about the importance of having a solid team dynamic . I mean, what happened to those days where you had a striker who could hold up the ball and bring others into play? It's like that's a lost art now . And Michael Owen makes some good points about needing players who can play off other guys and create scoring opportunities... but is that just a fancy way of saying 'we need to get our act together' ?
