EPA proposing new pesticide on crops raises alarm

omg i just saw this thread about the new pesticide epyrifenacil and i'm still trying to process it . like, forever chemicals are already super toxic and now we're gonna be exposing ourselves to even more of them? it's crazy. i'm not a scientist or anything but shouldn't we be prioritizing our health over agribusiness profits? also what's with the lack of transparency from the EPA? they should at least be upfront about the potential risks. anyway, hope people are speaking out against this proposal

I'm kinda worried about this new pesticide proposal . On one hand, we need crops to feed our growing population and economy . But on the other hand, forever chemicals like TFA can have serious health implications for us humans . It's all about finding a balance between progress and safety. I'm low-key worried about this new pesticide proposal . I just checked some stats on the EPA's website, and it looks like they're approving more pesticides with forever chemicals than ever before. According to the EPA's own data, there were 145 pesticide registrations between 2017 and 2020, which is a 60% increase from the previous decade!

As you can see, it's been steadily increasing over the past few years. And now we're talking about another one that contains TFA, which has already been linked to liver cancer in animal studies .

The EPA says they're taking steps to mitigate the risks, but I'm not sure if those measures are enough. The Center for Biological Diversity is advocating for a more thorough review of the pesticide's potential effects on human health and the environment .

I just checked some data from the National Cancer Institute, which shows that exposure to TFA has been linked to an increased risk of liver cancer in humans . Not great, right?
