Eternity to Queer: the seven best films to watch on TV this week

David Freyne's new film 'Eternity' is a charming romantic drama that pays homage to the classic Hollywood movies of yesteryear, particularly Cary Grant's 'My Favourite Wife'. The story follows Larry (Miles Teller), who accidentally dies after 65 years of marriage to Joan (Elizabeth Olsen). In an unexpected turn of events, he finds himself in an afterlife transit hotel where he must choose one of several themed worlds to spend eternity in. Unbeknownst to him, his wife has also arrived, only to be confronted by Luke (Callum Turner), her first husband who died in the Korean War and has been waiting for her ever since.

The film boasts a talented cast with excellent chemistry between Teller, Olsen, and Turner. They manage to balance wit and warmth in their performances, making 'Eternity' an enjoyable watch. The movie is a poignant exploration of love, loss, and the complexities of human relationships.

In other TV highlights this week, Levan Akin's 'Crossing' explores the city of Istanbul as a place where people come to disappear. Lia (Mzia Arabuli) travels there in search of her long-lost transgender niece, only to uncover a precarious underworld of poverty and exploitation. Meanwhile, Jess Varley's sci-fi drama 'The Astronaut' follows Kate Mara's character as she returns to Earth after a re-entry that went awry.

Universal Pictures has also brought its hit animated comedy 'How to Train Your Dragon' to the small screen in live-action form. The film, directed by Dean DeBlois, remains faithful to the original while introducing new characters and storylines. Another classic musical gets a modern makeover with Baz Luhrmann's 'Moulin Rouge!', which brings together opera, Bollywood dance, Elton John songs, and Greek myths in a visually stunning way.

Lastly, Anna Kendrick stars as Alice, who embarks on a week-long lakeside break with her best friends Sophie (Wunmi Mosaku) and Tess (Kaniehtiio Horn). However, their trip turns into a journey of self-discovery after Alice's anxious behaviour hints at a disturbing relationship of coercive control. The film is a thought-provoking tale about the various forms abuse can take.

These films are all worth watching this week on TV, offering something for everyone in terms of genre and style.

omg i'm so over the whole ' reincarnation afterlife' trope... it's like every other movie now πŸ™„ but seriously tho, david freyne's new film 'eternity' actually works because of its charm and how it pokes fun at classic hollywood movies 🀣 miles teller and elizabeth olsen have great chemistry, tho, and the cast as a whole does a decent job with their performances. on a more serious note, it's pretty deep on the complexities of human relationships and love πŸ’”

I don’t usually comment but I gotta say, David Freyne's 'Eternity' sounds like a total trip πŸŒπŸ‘€ I love how it combines classic Hollywood vibes with a modern take on the afterlife. The cast seems talented and the premise is so intriguing - who wouldn't want to choose an eternity of their own theme? πŸ˜‚ It's also great that the film tackles complex human relationships in a poignant way. And can we talk about the TV lineup this week? 'Crossing' looks super haunting πŸ•·οΈ and I'm curious to see how Anna Kendrick's film explores coercive control - it's such an important topic πŸ’”

just watched eternity with my partner and it was so sweet πŸ€— david freyne really nailed the old-school vibes, reminded me of when i used to watch these classic movies with my grandma. the cast is amazing too, elizabeth olsen and miles teller have great chemistry, makes you wanna root for them from the start πŸ’•

πŸŽ₯ I think 'Eternity' is like a warm hug for your soul - it's got that old-school Hollywood charm πŸŒƒ, but with a fresh twist. The cast is amazing, they really bring the characters to life πŸ’•. I loved how the movie explores the complexities of human relationships and love ❀️. It's like, we've all been in those situations where we're stuck between our heart and head, right? 🀯 And the afterlife transit hotel concept is genius! It's like a never-ending theme park 🎒. Can't wait to see more from David Freyne πŸ‘€

I just watched 'Eternity' with my partner 🌹, and it's honestly so romantic! I mean, who wouldn't want to spend eternity with their significant other? πŸ˜‚ But seriously, the cast is amazing, and the way they balance humor and drama is top-notch. Miles Teller and Elizabeth Olsen have such great chemistry on screen, it's like you're watching a real couple's reunion πŸ€—. And that twist at the end? Mind-blowing! I also loved 'Crossing', it's so thought-provoking about the human condition and what we do when we're lost or hurting πŸ’”. And can we talk about how great Anna Kendrick is in her new film? She just shines as Alice, you know? 🌟

I'm not sure if I like 'Eternity' that much... I mean, it's got some great performances from Teller, Olsen, and Turner πŸ€”, but the plot is kinda weird and I'm not entirely convinced about the whole afterlife thing. But at the same time, it's really romantic and charming, especially when they're all hanging out in those different themed worlds 😊. I guess what bothers me is that the movie tries to tackle some heavy themes like love, loss, and control, but sometimes feels a bit superficial. And don't even get me started on how convenient the whole 'he died 65 years ago' thing is... I mean, come on! That's just too easy πŸ˜’. But overall, I suppose it's an enjoyable watch if you're into that sorta thing 🎬.

I gotta say, I'm intrigued by David Freyne's 'Eternity'. It sounds like a beautiful, emotional rollercoaster that explores the complexities of love & relationships 🀩. The cast seems talented & chemistry is key - Miles Teller, Elizabeth Olsen & Callum Turner all look like they've got some amazing scenes together πŸ’•. It's always great to see movies that tackle tough themes with sensitivity & care ❀️. I'm also loving the other TV highlights this week, from sci-fi to comedy to drama... there's something for everyone! πŸ“Ί

I'm low-key obsessed with romantic dramas like 'Eternity' right now 🀩! Did you know that 70% of couples who get divorced cite a lack of communication as the main reason? I guess it just goes to show how much love really matters πŸ’•. On a side note, have you seen those new stats on marriage and relationships? Apparently, couples who watch romantic comedies together are 2x more likely to stay together long-term 😊. And can we talk about 'My Favourite Wife' being one of the greatest films of all time? It's crazy how much influence it had on David Freyne's film πŸŽ₯.

omg i loved the new movie 'Eternity' it's sooo romantic and funny at the same time! david freyne is such a genius at storytelling 🀩 i loved how the cast worked together, especially miles teller and elizabeth olsen they had great chemistry on screen πŸ’• and the afterlife transit hotel setting was so cool πŸš€ can't wait to see more of their movies

I don’t usually comment but I just wanted to say that 'Eternity' sounds like such a unique and fascinating film πŸ€”. The concept of an afterlife transit hotel is so interesting and the cast seems to have great chemistry together. I love how it explores complex themes like love, loss and relationships - it's not your typical rom-com. And the other TV highlights this week look pretty diverse too! I've been meaning to check out 'How to Train Your Dragon' in live-action form, I'm a fan of the original animated movie πŸ‰. The drama about coercive control is also something I think we need more discussions about - it's really well done.

🌊 just saw 'Eternity' and I gotta say, it's so beautifully done! The way they balance the light-hearted moments with the deeper emotional stuff is just perfect. Miles Teller and Elizabeth Olsen have amazing chemistry - it feels like we're watching a real marriage unfold on screen 🚽. And that twist with Luke and Joan? 😱 got me right in the feels. I love how it's all about exploring what makes us human, you know? ❀️

I'm loving David Freyne's 'Eternity' right now 🀩, it's like a warm hug from the afterlife 😊. The way they balance those three main characters is so well done, it feels like we're witnessing their entire lives in just one movie! Miles Teller and Elizabeth Olsen are meant to be πŸ‘«, and Callum Turner brings this depth to Luke that makes you feel for him too. It's a beautiful exploration of love, loss, and what makes us human ❀️. I'm also super excited about 'Crossing', it looks so gritty and real πŸŒƒ, and Levan Akin is one talented director πŸ‘. Have you guys seen any of these shows yet? πŸ€”

I gotta say, I loved that new romantic drama 'Eternity' 🌟. It's so cleverly written, like a mix of old-school Hollywood charm with modern wit. Miles Teller and Elizabeth Olsen have amazing chemistry on screen, it's like watching two people who've been married for decades already πŸ’•. The way the story weaves together love, loss, and relationships is just beautiful 🌹. I also loved that they didn't shy away from exploring the complexities of human emotions... it's just really well done πŸŽ₯.

I'm not sure about 'Eternity' yet πŸ€” I mean, it sounds like a really sweet idea but how do we know it's not just another sappy rom-com? Where are the sources on this movie? Is there any reviews from critics that aren't just fawning all over it? And what's with the 'poignant exploration of love and loss' vibe - isn't that just code for 'we're gonna make you cry in a good way'? πŸ“Ί
