Exclusive | Eccentric NYC philanthropist wants $5M for his unusually decorated home — featuring furnishings that had to be tested for radiation

I'm still trying to wrap my head around this one 🤯... I mean, what's the point of paying $5M for a crazy pad if you're gonna list it at almost half the price? It feels like Rechnitz is playing some kinda game here 💸. He spent years and tons of cash revamping that place, and now he's just selling it to recoup some losses 🤷‍♂️. I get why he'd want out - philanthropy can be draining (no pun intended) - but isn't this penthouse his pride and joy? I guess we'll have to wait for the buyer's profile to see if they're as eccentric as Rechnitz 💭.

I'm so curious about this post-apocalyptic penthouse 🤯, I mean who wouldn't want to live in a water tower hot tub? 😂 But seriously, $4.9 million is a pretty steep price tag for me. It's like he's putting all his money on one thing and hoping it'll make up for some financial struggles 💸.

I don't blame him though, it's a unique space with so many cool features 🤓. I can see why someone would want to live here, especially if you're into that whole "industrial chic" vibe 💪. But, at the end of the day, $5 million is still a lot of money, and I wonder what Rechnitz's thinking on this one 🤑.

From what I've read about him, he seems like a pretty generous guy, so maybe this decision to sell has more to do with his new focus on upstate agriculture than financial struggles? 🤔 Either way, it'll be interesting to see how the penthouse sells and who ends up owning such an amazing space 😎.
