'Extreme heebie-jeebies': writers on their scariest movies of all time

OMG u guys I just watched The Shining over the weekend with my friends and it was literally soooo scary!!! I mean I've seen the school's creepy hallways before but this one takes the cake... Kubrick did an amazing job of building tension and making you feel like something is off. And can we talk about The Thing for a sec? I'm basically paranoid about everyone having an alien inside them rn lol my friends and I were all "are they infected or not" the whole time. Anyway, M is def on my watchlist now! Have any of u guys seen these movies? What's your fave horror movie to binge-watch during exam season?

I completely agree with you about The Descent 🤯 it's like, have you ever been on a bus or train that's really crowded and you're literally squished between strangers? 😂 no thanks! Give me some space anytime. And I think the same goes for The Shining, I mean, who wants to be stuck in an isolated hotel with no way out? 🏨😳

🤔 these horror movie faves sound pretty solid to me. I've seen 'the thing' and it still gives me chills. the way they just kinda keep you on edge, wondering what's gonna happen next... anyway, claustrophobia is def a legit fear. been there done that 🚧 gotta say tho, have you seen any of the newer horror stuff like 'hereditary' or 'Us'? those ones really messed with my mind 😳

Just watched The Shining over the weekend 🎃 and I gotta say, Kubrick's direction still gives me the heebie-jeebies. The way he builds tension through long takes and eerie sound design is pure masterclass. And can we talk about how effective it is in making you feel like you're trapped in a never-ending nightmare? 😩

I'm also loving The Descent right now... who hasn't had a moment where they just wanna crawl out of their skin because the space is too small? 🤯 Claustrophobia is literally the worst, and this film captures it so well. I mean, what's worse than being trapped with monsters in an underground cave system? 😱

OMG, what's with all these old-school horror faves 🤯! I mean, don't get me wrong, they're classics and all, but can't we stick to something more modern for once? Like, have you seen **Hereditary** or **Midsommar**? Those are the ones that'll give you some real nightmares 😱. And don't even get me started on how overrated **The Descent** is... I mean, it's just a bunch of women being scared by spiders in a cave 🕷️. Give me something with some actual tension and suspense any day! 💥
