Former NJ fire chief and police officer charged with sexual misconduct, AG says

A former New Jersey fire chief and police officer has been slapped with serious charges after allegations surfaced of non-consensual sex acts committed against other firefighters. Robert Sinnott Jr., 52, is facing multiple felony counts following an investigation by the Office of Public Integrity and Accountability.

Prosecutors claim that Sinnott used his position as a mentor and role model to lure victims into situations where he could isolate them from others. He allegedly handcuffed or restrained them under false pretenses, claiming it was for "training purposes." However, investigators discovered that these restraints were, in fact, used to force the victims into unwanted acts of a sexual nature.

The shocking allegations date back to 2022 and 2023, during Sinnott's tenure as head of the Silverton Volunteer Fire Company in Toms River. Investigators also claim that Sinnott took photographs of his victims while they were restrained, further exacerbating the severity of these crimes.

Sinnott was taken into custody by a SWAT team on December 4th while living in Cape Coral, Florida. His home, person, and vehicle were searched, and he was subsequently transported to Lee County Jail pending extradition to New Jersey.

If convicted of the top charges, Sinnott faces up to five years in state prison and a $150,000 fine. The full extent of his alleged crimes remains a subject of investigation, with details still being revealed as authorities work to bring justice to the victims.

Just saw this thread from like 2 days ago and I'm so shook ๐Ÿคฏ. Can't believe someone in such power would do that to others. It's like he preyed on their trust as a fire chief & police officer, used his position for twisted games. The fact that he took pics of the victims while restrained is just horrific ๐Ÿ’”. Hope justice is served and those victims get the support they need.

I mean, who doesn't love a good story about a former fire chief turned sex offender ๐Ÿคทโ€โ™‚๏ธ? I'm sure it's just a coincidence that all these allegations came out now, after he moved to Florida and got a nice quiet life ๐Ÿ’โ€โ™‚๏ธ. The fact that he was using his position of power to "train" his victims in situations that were more like... interrogations ๐Ÿš”. And the photos? Oh boy, that's just peachy ๐Ÿ˜ณ. I'm sure it's not like he thought he could get away with it all, hiding behind his badge and his "training purposes" ๐Ÿคฅ. Five years in prison? That's cute ๐Ÿ‘€. I hope justice is served for the victims, but I'm also kinda curious to see how this plays out in court ๐Ÿ’ผ.

I gotta say, this is super messed up ๐Ÿค•. The fact that someone in power like Robert Sinnott Jr. took advantage of people under their authority is just disgusting. I mean, who do you trust when there's a cop or firefighter involved? It's like they're supposed to be protectors, right? But it seems like Sinnott used his badge for some very bad things.

I'm all about holding people accountable, but I gotta wonder how many other cases might go unreported because of fear or intimidation. I hope the victims are getting the support and justice they deserve, 'cause this is a nightmare scenario come to life ๐Ÿ˜ต. And 5 years in prison doesn't seem like nearly enough time for someone who's done this kind of harm...

๐Ÿš’๐Ÿ˜ฑ this is so messed up i cant even... like how can someone abuse their power like that? it's infuriating to think about all the firefighters who were affected by him and he just used his position to make them feel safe or something but really he was using it to exploit them. ๐Ÿคฌ and taking photos of them while they were restrained is just horrific. i hope he gets the maximum sentence possible so people know that this kind of behavior won't be tolerated. ๐Ÿ’ช

This is getting crazy! I mean, how could someone in a position of power like that get away with this stuff for so long? ๐Ÿคฏ It's like they were playing some sick game of cat and mouse with these poor firefighters. And the fact that he was using his "training purposes" excuse to lure them into situations is just mind-blowing. I bet there are more people involved than we know, considering how organized this whole thing seems... ๐Ÿ‘€ You think it's possible that someone in high places knew about this and chose to look the other way? The whole investigation process feels like a setup to me ๐Ÿค”

this guy was a fire chief... and he set himself up for burnin' ๐Ÿ”ฅ

[gif of a man with a sad expression, facepalming ๐Ÿ’”]

when you think you're above the law, but really you're just a hot mess ๐Ÿคฏ

stop playing hero, stop playing villain... just be human ๐Ÿ‘Š

Ugh, this is just heartbreaking ๐Ÿค•. I mean, you would never guess that someone like that could be hiding in plain sight, right? It's so messed up how he used his power and position to take advantage of others like that. And to think those firefighters were supposed to trust him as a mentor... it's just sickening.

You know what really gets me is the fact that these allegations surfaced last year and now this guy is being taken down. I hope justice happens ASAP, but also I'm so sorry for the victims - they deserve the best support and care possible right now โค๏ธ๐Ÿ’”.

.. this is just heartbreaking ๐Ÿค•. Can't believe someone in such a position of trust would take advantage of others like that. It's disgusting how he used his role as a mentor to lure them into situations and then used physical restraint, no wonder they felt trapped ๐Ÿ’”. And taking photos of them while restrained? That's just gross ๐Ÿ˜ท. I hope justice is served ASAP so the victims can finally get some peace of mind ๐Ÿ™. It's also concerning that these allegations went on for two years without anyone speaking out... what were people thinking? ๐Ÿคฏ

just can't believe what's going on rn... like, how does someone in a position of power get away with this kind of stuff? it's just so messed up that he used his role to lure people into situations where they couldn't escape or defend themselves. and taking photos of them while they were restrained is just sickening... it's not just the fact that he did these things, but also that he thought he could get away with it because of who he was and what position he held. it's a total miscarriage of justice if he gets a slap on the wrist like this ๐Ÿคฌ๐Ÿšซ

OMG, this is so messed up ๐Ÿคฏ๐Ÿ˜ฑ I mean, can you even imagine if your hero, someone who's supposed to be looking out for you, ends up doing something like this? The fact that he used his position of power to lure people into situations where they couldn't escape is just horrific ๐Ÿ˜ท. And the fact that he took photos of them while they were restrained? That's just twisted ๐Ÿคข. I'm so glad that there are people in law enforcement who care about justice and are working hard to bring these people to account ๐Ÿ’ช. But at the same time, it's devastating for all the victims who have been affected by this guy's actions ๐Ÿ’”. We need to make sure that we create a culture where people feel safe coming forward about what's happening to them, no matter how scary or intimidating it may seem ๐Ÿ’ฌ.

๐Ÿ˜ฑ this is absolutely appalling, I mean what kind of person uses their position of power to exploit others like that? ๐Ÿคข and it's even more sickening when you think about all those hours he must have spent convincing himself that he was "just doing his job" ๐Ÿ˜’ anyway, the fact that he took pictures of the victims while they were restrained is just a whole other level of depravity... I hope he gets the max time in prison and has to pay out a ton of restitution to the victims ๐Ÿคทโ€โ™‚๏ธ

๐Ÿšจ๐Ÿ˜ฑ this is like something out of a nightmare, can't believe someone in power would do this to others... it's all about abuse of trust and position of authority, just horrific ๐Ÿคฏ. and the fact that he was using his role as a mentor and training officer to lure people into these situations is just chilling ๐Ÿ˜ณ. needs to be held accountable for what he's done, hope justice is served ๐Ÿ’”.

just read about this guy sinnott and its mental he was able to get away with it for so long i mean like how could you do that to people who trust you like firemen ๐Ÿคฏ๐Ÿ‘ฎโ€โ™‚๏ธ, its crazy how some ppl abuse power to get what they want, the fact that he took pictures of his victims while they were restrained is just sickening ๐Ÿ˜ท and 5 years in prison might not be enough for someone who done this kinda thing, i wish justice happens fast so these people can heal ๐Ÿคž
