Fort Bend County drivers will pay more to use toll roads in new year

Fort Bend County residents face another increase in tolls to use the region's major highways at the start of a new year. The Westpark Tollway, Grand Parkway, Fort Bend Parkway, and FM 1463 plaza will see price hikes ranging from a few cents to nearly a quarter dollar for drivers with toll tags on two-axle vehicles.

Tolls are set to jump by between one percent and two percent, which translates to minor but noticeable increases. The Grand Parkway's $0.46 toll will now cost $0.47, while the Fort Bend Parkway's $0.75 toll is expected to rise to $0.77. Westpark Tollway prices will increase from $0.82 to $0.84.

The price hikes also apply to non-tagged vehicles, with an additional $0.25 charge at all locations. This may prove costly for many drivers who rely on the highways but don't have a toll tag.

According to local authorities, the increases are due to inflation and an existing rate order that requires periodic adjustments to toll rates. While the hikes might seem insignificant, they can add up over time.

Commuters like Andrew Campos say it's already difficult for them to afford the current toll prices, so another increase will make things worse. "It's not pretty good for me," Campos said.

With these price increases taking effect at the start of a new year, drivers are advised to factor in the extra costs when planning their routes or making travel plans.

In an effort to prepare residents, the Fort Bend County Toll Road Authority is urging them to plan ahead and take necessary steps to mitigate the impact of the toll hikes.

Ugh, can you believe it? Another year, another toll hike 🀯. I feel for all those commuters like Andrew Campos who are already struggling to make ends meet on their daily drives. It's not just about the money; it's about the stress and hassle of dealing with increased costs.

I get that inflation is a thing, but can't we find ways to manage our finances better? Some people might be able to adjust their budgets, but others might not be so lucky 😬. I wish there were more affordable alternatives for those who can't afford to pay these extra fees. It's like they're nickel-and-diming us to death πŸ’Έ.

Maybe instead of just passing the buck (or should I say, toll tag? πŸ˜‰), we could focus on improving public transportation options or investing in infrastructure that doesn't rely so heavily on tolls? Just a thought πŸ€”.

ugh this is so annoying 🀯 another increase on our tolls? it's already hard enough for people like my friend Andrew who have to deal with it every day... i feel bad for him, he's always talking about how stressful it is to commute and now they're just gonna raise the prices even more 😩 what's next? are we gonna see price hikes on our groceries or something?! πŸ€·β€β™€οΈ

Tolls just keep going up πŸš—πŸ˜’ I mean, I get it, inflation is real, but do we really need another hike at the start of a new year? It's like they're just nickel-and-diming us. And what's with all these price increases - $0.01 here, $0.02 there... it adds up quick. People are already struggling to make ends meet, and now they gotta worry about extra tolls too? 🀯 I can see why Andrew Campos is stressing out about this. It's not just the money; it's the inconvenience too. Planning ahead won't save us much if we're gonna be stuck in traffic because of these hikes anyway. πŸ˜’

I feel for these commuters πŸ€•. A few cents here and a quarter there might not seem like much, but when you're already stretched thin on your daily commute, it can add up fast πŸ’Έ. And with inflation on the rise, it's getting harder to keep pace πŸ“‰. I think the county should explore ways to make tolls more affordable for everyone, especially those without tags 🀝. Maybe look into alternative payment options or even phase in the increases over time ⏱️. Whatever they decide, let's hope they can find a solution that works for all of us πŸ™.

πŸš—πŸ’Έ honestly can't believe they're doing this again... inflation's gotta be a thing, but it's not like they have other options πŸ€·β€β™€οΈ. I feel bad for all you commuters who are already struggling to afford those tolls πŸ™. $0.25 more per trip might not seem like much, but it adds up quickly πŸ’Έ. I'm one of them, too - got a toll tag on my two-axle car and it's gonna hurt 😐. guess we'll just have to start looking for alternative routes or find ways to pay more πŸ€”.

ugh tolls just keep going up πŸ™„, like we didn't have enough cash in our pockets already? can't they just make some money through parking fees or something instead of nickel-and-diming us on the highway? i mean, 1-2% increase might not seem like a lot but it adds up quick, especially for ppl who gotta drive a lot for work/school. anyone else getting tired of watching their bank account dwindle just to get from point A to point B? πŸ€‘

omg can't believe we're getting hit with another toll hike πŸ€―πŸ’Έ like, i get it prices gotta rise but it's already so expensive to drive around here, an extra quarter cent just adds up, you feel? and now they're gonna charge us even more if we don't have a tag? what's next? πŸ€·β€β™€οΈ anyway, commuters are already stressing about this, like Andrew Campos said, it's not pretty good for him... i'm sure there are plenty of others who'll be feeling the pinch too 😩

Wow 🀯! Tolls just keep getting more expensive! Interesting how inflation affects everything, including the roads we use daily. I feel for commuters like Andrew Campos who are already struggling with the current prices... πŸ’ΈπŸ˜¬

ugh, another toll hike πŸš—πŸ’Έ like it's not bad enough already we're gonna see our tolls go up AGAIN? i feel for all you commuters out there who are barely scraping by as it is... these increases may seem small but trust me they add up and can make a big difference in your wallet πŸ’Έ. plus, non-tagged vehicles get an extra charge which just seems unfair πŸ€·β€β™€οΈ. can't we just find another way to fund our highways or something? anyway, if you're planning on using the toll roads soon, better start crunching those numbers and factoring in the extra costs πŸ“ŠπŸ’Έ.

Ugh, another tax hike πŸ€‘πŸ’Έ. I mean, who decides that our hard-earned cash just magically gets siphoned off to increase highway tolls? It's like they're trying to rob us blind! The fact that it's due to inflation is just a fancy way of saying "we can't control the economy". Meanwhile, people are struggling to make ends meet and we get nickel-and-dimed for driving on our own highways. I'm all for maintaining infrastructure, but come on, can't they find a better way to fund it?

ugh i cant believe we're getting hit with another toll hike 🀯 like how much more are they gonna charge us anyway? its not like we can just magic up some extra cash or something πŸ˜‚ and yeah i feel for commuters who already struggle making ends meet, this is just gonna make things worse...

ugh tolls again πŸ˜’ ugh cant believe its already happening 2 years into being a resident nvr heard anythin bout this in advance. dont get me wrong, i need a new job ASAP but can we not just save some cash 1% or 2% may not seem like much but when ur tryna make ends meet its all about the little things u know?

People don't know they can be free until they get tagged with a price increase πŸ€‘ "The price of freedom isn't measured by money spent, but by the choices we make." πŸ€”

Tolls just keep on goin' up πŸ€‘. I mean, I get it, inflation and all that jazz, but it's still gonna be a squeeze for some people comin' outta their wallets. I've got family members who take those highways every day, and they're already grumblin' about the prices. It's like, yeah, we know the cost of livin' goes up, but do we really need to make it harder on 'em? πŸ€” Still, I guess it's good that the county is tryin' to prepare everyone for the change. Just hope they got some solid plan in place to help folks out... or at least provide some discounts for low-income families who are already strugglin' 😊

Ugh, another toll hike πŸ™„! Like we didn't know this was coming. I'm not sure how much more these people can increase their prices without making it even harder for everyday drivers to afford. The math just doesn't add up - a quarter cent here, a quarter cent there... it adds up fast πŸ€‘. And what's the point of all these tolls anyway? Just so they can keep raking in cash? It's just another example of how we're being nickel and dimed every time we use our own roads πŸš—πŸ˜’.

Ugh, another toll hike πŸ€‘πŸ˜’. I mean, I get it, inflation and all that, but come on! It's like they're just piling on the extra cash without giving drivers any real options for how to deal with it. And what really gets me is those "extra" $0.25 charges for non-tagged vehicles πŸš—πŸ’Έ. Like, can't we just have a flat rate or something? I'm not saying they're necessary or anything, but this is just gonna add up fast (literally).

ugh tolls already? like can't we just make roads free or somethin πŸ€¦β€β™‚οΈ anyway i feel for ppl who dont have toll tags, that extra $0.25 is a big deal, might be hard to swallow for some folks πŸ€‘
