Freeze warning in effect for NYC area overnight, real-feel temps in 20s expected

A Blast of Winter: NYC Area to Brisk Temperatures Overnight

Residents in New York City and its surrounding areas are bracing for a chilly overnight stay as a freeze warning has been issued by the National Weather Service. Beginning tonight, temperatures are expected to plummet to the upper 20s inland and the low 30s near the coast.

As the cold front moves into the region, wind chills will make it feel even colder, with the "real feel" temperatures dipping as low as the teens and low 20s. This is a stark reminder that winter's chill is just around the corner.

The cold snap has prompted New York City Emergency Management to issue some crucial advice for residents: keep pets indoors, protect outdoor plants, run faucets to prevent pipes from freezing, and dress warmly when venturing outside. In fact, city officials are warning commuters to "use caution" when walking, biking, or driving, advising them to plan extra time on Tuesday morning to warm up their cars and clear their windows.

While the cold temperatures may be uncomfortable, some relief is in sight as a cold front moving through the area could bring showers on Monday afternoon. However, for now, residents are advised to wrap up warm and get ready for a frosty night ahead.

omg can't believe its gonna be that cold tonight 🥶❄️ i live like 10 mins from central park and im already getting anxious about having to shovel snow off my balcony lol guess ill have to break out the heavy boots & hot cocoa ☕️ hope everyone stays safe & warm out there 💕

Ugh, just what I needed, another excuse to break out my heavy boots and scarves from storage 🙄... or not, since it's basically winter already. Anyway, I guess this cold snap is nice because now I have an official reason to hate my outdoor plants that died last year 😒. On the bright side, at least I don't have to worry about my pipes freezing, right? That would've been a total bummer 🚨. And can we talk about how annoying it is when city officials remind us to plan extra time for our morning commute? Like, I get it, be careful, but do we really need the "use caution" alert? Can't they just keep that to themselves like normal people? 💁‍♀️

dude 🤔 I'm telling you, this freeze warning isn't just about the weather... it's like they're setting us up for something. think about it, all these people gonna be stuck inside on Tuesday morning, their cars gonna be frozen, and they'll be totally dependent on the city's services... what if that's not an accident? 🤯 was it really an oversight to forget to clear all those roads? or is this a test, like some kinda experiment to see how we react under pressure? and have you noticed all these "advice" videos popping up everywhere, telling us how to prevent pipes from freezing... just seems too convenient. idk what's gonna happen tonight, but I'm low-key expecting something 🌫️

Wow, it's going to be super cold tonight 🥶😱, I hope everyone is prepared with hot chocolate and blankets at the ready! Interesting that they're reminding people to run their faucets to prevent pipes from freezing, didn't think of that one!

I mean, who doesn't love freezing their buns off in the dead of winter? 🤣 I'm sure all those adorable little NYC residents will just have a blast shivering on the sidewalk. And can we talk about how lovely it is to have to worry about pipes freezing and bursting because of the cold? It's not like anyone has better things to do than to run around their house, opening taps to prevent disaster. 😊 Also, I'm sure all those cyclists will just be thrilled to know that they get to spend an extra hour in the car on Tuesday morning, warming up their frozen butts... I mean, bikes. Bring on the cold front! ❄️
