Golden Globes Snubs and Surprises: Ryan Coogler’s ‘Sinners’ Script Passed Over; Teyana Taylor and Wagner Moura Triumph and More

Several notable names left empty-handed at this year's Golden Globe Awards, leaving fans and industry insiders scratching their heads. Ryan Coogler's highly-anticipated film 'Sinners', which was expected to sweep the awards, surprisingly didn't take home any major prizes.

In a stunning upset, Brazilian actor Wagner Moura took home the award for Best Actor in a Motion Picture - Drama, beating out big names like Oscar Isaac and Dwayne Johnson. The win marked Moura's first Golden Globe triumph, cementing his status as a force to be reckoned with in Hollywood.

Another surprise winner was Teyana Taylor, who walked away with the Best Supporting Actress award for her explosive performance in 'One Battle After Another'. Despite being the pundit pick and Amy Madigan's villainous turn in 'Weapons' gaining steam in the race, Taylor secured the coveted win.

However, some notable names were snubbed by the Golden Globes. Paul Thomas Anderson lost to Ryan Coogler for the screenplay award for 'Sinners', with many expecting Anderson to take home the directing Globe for 'One Battle After Another'.

The ceremony also saw a snub in terms of TV series - Michelle Williams took home the Best Actress in a Limited Series win, but was unfortunately unable to attend the event. Sarah Snook's turn in 'All Her Fault' had been predicted as the winner by award prognosticators.

Additionally, some winners were surprised by their own absence from clips shown during the ceremony. The one-hour show featured no clips from films, which left fans feeling underwhelmed and missing out on a taste of what these movies had to offer.

Finally, Amy Poehler made history with her first-ever podcast Globe win for hosting the popular podcast 'Smartless'. Her work was certainly deserving of recognition, but many were surprised by this particular award being handed out. The ceremony also featured some unique interstitial music elements, courtesy of DJ Usher, which brought a much-needed dose of excitement to the proceedings.

man i'm still tryin to wrap my head around the whole thing 🤯 like what even happened at these golden globes? ryan coogler's sinners just got shut down by wagner moura outta nowhere? and paul thomas anderson gets snubbed for his own screenplay award? it's like, i get it, awards are subjective, but come on... 🤷‍♂️ anyway, what's even more puzzlin is that they didn't play any clips from the movies during the ceremony... just a bunch of hosts and winners walkin around... doesn't give me much to think about lol.

OMG, like I know people are gonna be talking about this for ages 🤯! Wagner Moura's win is SO surprising, but also kinda awesome? I mean, he deserves it, his performances have been on point lately 💥. And Teyana Taylor's win is amazing, she brought so much energy to 'One Battle After Another' 🎉. But, like what's up with no clips from the movies during the ceremony? It was all about the hosts and interstitials 😐. Paul Thomas Anderson got robbed on the screenplay award, that one stings 💔. And I'm still not over Michelle Williams missing out on her own win 🤕. All in all, though, it's just another reminder that awards shows are never gonna be 100% fair 😊.

🤔 I'm kinda surprised about the Golden Globe snubs, tbh 🙅‍♂️. Like, Ryan Coogler's 'Sinners' was expected to sweep everything and still didn't take home a major prize? 😱 And Paul Thomas Anderson got beat out by Wagner Moura for Best Actor? That's some unexpected drama 🎥. I'm also kinda bummed that we didn't get any movie clips shown during the ceremony 📺... it would've been cool to see something from those movies 🎬. Anyway, congrats to Wagner and Teyana on their wins 🤗! 👏

🤔 I'm not surprised that Ryan Coogler's 'Sinners' didn't sweep the awards, to be honest. Hollywood has been pretty predictable lately and it feels like the same old names keep popping up on the red carpet. Wagner Moura's win is a nice surprise though! He's definitely got talent and his performance in 'One Battle After Another' was supposed to be epic 🎥. I mean, who would've thought Teyana Taylor would steal the show over Amy Madigan? The snub for Paul Thomas Anderson was pretty egregious, though. I guess you could say the Globes just didn't 'sine' for him this time 😂. And can we talk about how weird it was that they had zero clips from any of the films... like, what's the point of even showing up if we're not gonna get a glimpse? 📺

idk what's up with these golden globes 🤔... all that hype and no one from sinners gets a prize? ryan coogler must be feeling pretty salty right now 😒. meanwhile, wagner moura just casually wins best actor and i'm over here thinking 'who?' 🤷‍♂️. also, paul thomas anderson losing to coogler for screenplay award is straight up whack 💔. can't the academy even get their own awards right? 😩
