Guillermo Del Toro’s ‘Frankenstein’ Makes Monster Debut On Netflix Chart

Netflix's Top 10 Global Movies Chart Reveals Guillermo del Toro's Frankenstein as a Monster Success Story

In a major victory for streaming giant Netflix, Guillermo del Toro's reimagining of Mary Shelley's classic novel "Frankenstein" has taken the top spot on the platform's Global Top 10 Movies chart. The film, which debuted on Friday and is now streaming exclusively on Netflix, has amassed an astonishing 29.1 million views in just three days, translating to a whopping 73.6 million hours viewed.

The movie's massive success can be attributed to its well-crafted narrative, coupled with the talented ensemble cast that brings the iconic characters to life. Oscar Isaac stars as Dr. Victor Frankenstein, while Jacob Elordi plays his reanimated corpse, known simply as "The Creature". Mia Goth delivers dual performances as Victor's mother and Elizabeth Harlander, a wealthy arms manufacturer who funds Victor's experiments.

The film's visual appeal is also noteworthy, with the look of The Creature inspired by the work of former Marvel Comics artist Bernie Wrightson. Del Toro himself paid tribute to Wrightson, obtaining a license from his widow to honor the artist's legacy in the film.

With "Frankenstein" currently playing on big screens nationwide and now streaming exclusively on Netflix, it's clear that this adaptation is a monster success story – not just for del Toro but for Netflix as well. The movie has taken the top spot in 72 countries on Netflix, including the U.S., Mexico, and Canada, making it a truly global phenomenon.

As del Toro himself noted during a recent Zoom conversation, "The main influence visually [for my film] was Bernie Wrightson and the illustrations he did in the '70s to illustrate the book." This testament to Wrightson's enduring influence is a fitting tribute to the artist who has inspired some of the most iconic monster movies of all time.

im so stoked about frankenstein on netflix, i mean its like del toro outdid himself again 🤩 he brought this classic tale back to life in such a beautiful way and those creature effects are insane 🔥 the cast is amazing too, i love how they got that perfect balance of drama and horror going on. and can we talk about bernie wrightson for a sec? what an icon his art still holds up today 🎨👻

omg can u believe its guillermo del toros frankenstein took the top spot on netflix global chart already 29 mil views in just 3 days!! i mean what can u say this guy is a genius he brought the creature to life so beautifully and the cast is perf too osciars voice acting skills are insane idk how they did it but its clear the hard work paid off now we gotta see if they keep it on top 👻💥

oh man, i'm so down for frankenstein on netflix! 🎃 the fact that it's already got 29.1 million views in just three days is insane 💥 and the ensemble cast? perfect casting, if you ask me 😊 oskar Isaac as dr. victor frankenstein is giving me all the feels, and jacob elordi's creature... wow 🤖 mia goth's dual performances are already making waves on social media 📸

but what i think really sets this film apart is its visuals 🎨 bernie wrightson's artwork is iconic, and del toro did an amazing job of bringing that to life. the creature's design alone is a masterpiece 🔥 it's like del toro took all the classic monster movies and mashed them together into something completely new and fresh.

anyway, i'm glad netflix is supporting more visually stunning content 📺 because we need more of this kind of storytelling in our lives. bring on the next project from del toro 🎥

I'm so bloody excited about this! 🤩 Like, I've been waiting for ages for a decent adaptation of Frankenstein on Netflix and this one blows my mind! The way it's done is just so atmospheric and creepy - it feels like you're right there with the Creature, feeling its pain and suffering. And Oscar Isaac as Victor Frankenstein? Absolutely devastating. He's got that whole tortured soul thing down pat.

And can we talk about Mia Goth for a sec? She's like a chameleon or something - she seamlessly switches between these two totally different characters. It's like she has this other life inside her or something. And the Creature... Jacob Elordi's performance is just so raw and emotional. I felt bad for him, you know? Like he's this monster who's been brought to life and just doesn't understand what's going on.

I love how del Toro paid tribute to Bernie Wrightson too - it's clear that guy was a huge influence on the film's visual style. The way the Creature looks... it's just so hauntingly beautiful. I could watch it all day. Netflix, you've really done it this time. This adaptation is a total masterpiece.

I'm so over these "classic novel" adaptations... I mean, don't get me wrong, del Toro's done an amazing job, but come on, 29.1 million views in just three days? That's just not possible 🤣. Either Netflix has some super smart algorithm or people are just binge-watching like crazy 😂. Either way, it's a solid win for the streaming giant!

idk why ppl r so harsh on guillermo del toro lol 😂 he does an amazing job with these classic stories & brings them 2 life in such a unique way 🤖 i mean, frankenstein is literally one of the OG monsters & it's dope to see how del toro puts his own spin on it 🔥 plus, the visuals r insane! bernie wrightson's illustrations inspired by his work are seriously iconic 💀 what more can u ask 4? 😎

I watched this movie last week 🎥, I gotta say it was bloody fantastic! The way they brought Frankenstein to life on screen was so eerie and captivating. Guillermo del Toro's direction really paid off here – he got the perfect balance of drama, horror, and emotional depth. And that creature design? 😱 Mind blown! I love how they gave it a fresh twist while still staying true to the classic story. Netflix is onto something with this one... 👏
