HMS Pinafore review – carry on up the poop deck in ENO's daffy Gilbert and Sullivan staging

I'm loving the energy at the English National Opera right now! They've totally reimagined HMS Pinafore for today's crowd, keeping the classic tunes but giving it a fresh spin with some wicked physical comedy. 🤣 And I gotta say, Mel Giedroyc is absolutely on point as both Aunt Melanie and Josephine - her one-liners had me giggling out loud! The sets and costumes are so on point too, totally transporting you to the Victorian era. The cast overall is super talented, especially Neal Davies as Sir Joseph Porter... he's got some seriously sassy moves going on! 💃🏻 All in all, a fantastic reimagining of a classic musical that's fun for the whole family 🎭

I went to see the ENO's HMS Pinafore last month 🤣 and it was literally the best night out I've had in ages! The cast is so talented, especially Mel Giedroyc - she's a comedic genius 😂. The sets and costumes are spot on too, transported me straight back to the 19th century. The music hall bits were my fave part though, always loved those kind of skits. And Neal Davies as Sir Joseph Porter was just top-notch 🙌. Definitely worth checking out if you're a fan of Gilbert and Sullivan or just looking for something lighthearted to watch 👍

I just saw the review about English National Opera's HMS Pinafore and I'm totally dying over here 😂🎭! The fact that it's a sidesplitting send-up of Gilbert and Sullivan's classic with witty humor and catchy melodies just sounds like so much fun 🎶. And can we talk about Mel Giedroyc's comedic prowess? I need to see her in this production ASAP 🤣! But what I love most is how the show tackles topics that are still pertinent today, it shows that Gilbert and Sullivan's music isn't just for nostalgia, but it's also relevant to our lives now 💡.

omg i just saw the most hilarious revieival of hms pinafore at english national opera lol mel giedroyc as aunt melanie is EVERYTHING 🤣🎭 her one-liners had me dying on the spot ! and the physical comedy was so on point 🤹‍♀️ can't wait to see more of this talented cast 👏

I'm surprised they managed to make an 80-year-old musical funny again... I mean, who needs relevance when you can just slap some silly comedy bits on it? 😂 But seriously, I loved the fresh take on HMS Pinafore - it's like they took all the stuffy old parts and replaced them with something that doesn't put me to sleep. The cast was amazing, especially Mel Giedroyc, she's a total scene-stealer as Aunt Melanie! 👏 And can we talk about how impressive the chorus is? They're like a well-oiled machine, except instead of oiling machines they're singing and dancing their hearts out 🤣.

omg i just saw the most hilarious review of HMS Pinafore at english national opera 🤣 i wonder how michael portillo would do as a chorus member lol what's with all the 70s british comedy vibes btw did they get any inspiration from Monty Python? 🤔
