Igor Thiago: Brentford striker's route to top from humble start in Brazil

Brazilian-born striker Igor Thiago is on the cusp of a Premier League record, but it's not his first taste of success. Growing up in Cidade Ocidental, Thiago was determined to become a professional footballer, earning the promise of his mother Maria Diva that he would 'become a footballer and everyone will know me one day.' This promise sparked a drive within him to succeed against all odds.

Thiago faced rejection at trials around Brazil before finally signing with Gremio Ocidental at 17. His early years were marked by turmoil, however, as his family struggled financially. At one point, Thiago's mother had to explain that their family meal at her sister-in-law's would be at her expense due to her low income. The experience left the family in tears.

One person who recognized Thiago's potential was Sergio Goncalves, a former mentor and football coach who played an instrumental role in his development. Goncalves took Thiago under his wing when he was just a young boy.

Thiago has made a name for himself in Belgian top-flight club Brugge. During his time there, the forward scored 29 goals in a single season - a league record.

Since then, he was purchased by Brentford FC from Brugge at ยฃ30 million. Thiago's signing came with high expectations and a chance to compete with fellow Premier League top scorers such as Erling Haaland.

As the Brazilian national team prepares for their 2022 World Cup qualifying matches in March, Goncalves believes that Thiago should be included in Carlo Ancelotti's squad. This is because Brazil desperately needs an experienced striker.

Thiago's journey has been marked by perseverance and a commitment to his dream of playing at the highest level. It remains to be seen whether he will continue to excel on the pitch for Brentford, or if his national team ambitions become a reality.

ugh, i dont know man ๐Ÿค”, thiago's story is so inspiring, but can we really compare him to erling haaland? like, they're in different leagues and all that... and brentford fc just got ยฃ30 million for him, thats wild ๐Ÿ’ธ... but at the same time, brazil needs an experienced striker? shouldn't it be someone with more international experience? ๐Ÿคทโ€โ™‚๏ธ and what if thago just gets nervous on the big stage? he's had some major flops before ๐Ÿ‘Ž...

omg i cant even believe it!! ๐Ÿคฏ Igor Thiago is soooo talented!!! ๐Ÿ˜ i mean have you seen him play? he's like a god on the pitch lol! ๐Ÿ™Œ and that record in brugge? ๐Ÿ’ฅ 29 goals in one season?? ๐Ÿคฏ what a beast! ๐Ÿฆ– i'm literally living for his games rn... i need to see him do this with brentford too!! ๐Ÿ˜† Carlo ancilotti needs to include him in the brazil squad ASAP!!! โฐ he's gonna break so many records, mark my words!!! ๐Ÿ’ช

Ugh, ยฃ30 million is crazy! They're throwing that kind of cash around for one player and I'm sure there are other talented Brazilian players who deserve equal recognition. Goncalves knows Thiago's potential, but what about the rest of Brazil? I mean, have they considered players from smaller clubs in Brazil? It feels like they're only looking at the bigger names to get ahead in qualifying matches. ๐Ÿค”

I think it's crazy that this guy is only 17 when he was already making waves in Belgium ๐Ÿคฏ! But for real though, it's dope that he's got such a strong support system, like his mom and coach Goncalves, who believed in him even when everyone else didn't ๐Ÿ’•. It's also super inspiring to see how far he's come from struggling financially with his family ๐Ÿ™. Now, the question is will he be able to balance his Premier League life with Brazil's national team ambitions? Either way, I'm hyped to watch him crush it on the pitch ๐Ÿ˜Ž

๐Ÿค” Thiago's story is defo the real deal tho. Like, from poverty to Premier League record-breaker? That's what we need more of in football - players who don't care about their background and just want to win. Goncalves was lucky to spot him at that age, but it's clear Thiago has been grinding his whole life for this moment. The fact that he played with Brugge and killed the league record is no joke ๐Ÿ’ฅ. Now we gotta see if he can carry that form over to the Premier League. And seriously, Brazil needs players like Thiago who aren't afraid of the big stage. ๐Ÿ™Œ

Ugh, I'm so tired of these celebrity profile pieces ๐Ÿ™„... like, can't we get some actual depth in these articles? This one's just a glorified highlight reel of Igor Thiago's life story. And don't even get me started on the lack of context - what about his playing style or any analysis of his strengths and weaknesses? Nope, just fluffy feel-good stuff about how he overcame poverty and found success ๐Ÿค‘. Can we at least get some stats or expert opinions to back up these claims? Just seems like a shallow piece to me... ๐Ÿ˜

I think it's really interesting how Thiago's story highlights the importance of mentorship in overcoming adversity ๐Ÿค. With Goncalves' guidance, Thiago was able to develop his skills and stay focused on his goal, despite facing rejection and financial struggles at home. It's also impressive that he's already made a name for himself in Belgium and now has the potential to make an impact in the Premier League ๐Ÿ’ช. However, I do wonder if Brazil's national team really needs Thiago, given their existing talent pool ๐Ÿค”. Still, it'll be exciting to see how his story unfolds and whether he can bring success to both Brentford and the Brazilian national team โšฝ๏ธ.

๐Ÿคฉ This guy Igor Thiago is literally living proof that hard work & determination can take you far! I mean, he's been through so much since he was a kid - rejection at trials, financial struggles, but his mom kept believing in him ๐Ÿ™. And now look at him, breaking records left & right! 29 goals in one season? ๐Ÿ”ฅ That's insane! He deserves to be on Brazil's squad for the World Cup, hands down ๐Ÿ‘Š. I'm loving his story, it's so inspiring! ๐Ÿ’ช Go Thiago, go! ๐Ÿ† #ThiagoForBrazil #BrentfordFC #FootballGoals

๐Ÿค” I mean, can you believe Igor Thiago's story? From growing up in poverty-stricken Cidade Ocidental to becoming one of the top strikers in the Premier League ๐Ÿด๓ ง๓ ข๓ ฅ๓ ฎ๓ ง๓ ฟ. His drive and determination are truly inspiring ๐Ÿ’ช. And it's not just about him, his mom Maria Diva's promise to make sure everyone knows who he is when he makes it big is priceless โค๏ธ. I'm all for Goncalves' call-up to the Brazilian national team, they really need someone with Thiago's experience upfront ๐Ÿค. Can't wait to see how this season unfolds and if Thiago will lead Brazil to victory in the World Cup ๐ŸŒŽ๐Ÿ†

I think Igor Thiago is a great example of how hard work & dedication can take you far ๐Ÿ™Œ. His journey from growing up in a tough neighborhood to becoming a top scorer in the Premier League is truly inspiring ๐Ÿ”ฅ. What do you guys think? Should Brazil include him in their World Cup squad?
