Barcelona Set to Sign Cancelo as Defender Struggles for Form at Al-Hilal

Former Manchester City defender Joao Cancelo is set to return to Barcelona on loan from Saudi Pro League club Al-Hilal. The 31-year-old full-back has struggled to make an impact in his second spell with the Saudi outfit, making just two league appearances this season.

Cancelo's move to Al-Hilal was seen as a major signing by the club, but he has failed to live up to expectations and has been left out of the team on several occasions. The decision to send him back to Barcelona is reportedly due to his inability to adjust to the Saudi Pro League.

This move marks Cancelo's second stint with Barcelona after spending last season on loan from German side Bayern Munich. During his first spell at the club, he made 42 appearances across all competitions, scoring four goals and setting up five more. omg can't believe it 🤩 cancelo's back at barcelona! i feel like he was always a talented player, even if he did have some rough patches with man city 😊 but al-hilal just didn't seem to be the right fit for him. hopefully he'll come in and add some depth to ernesto valverde's squad - that leftback spot has been a disaster lately 🤦‍♂️. i'm kinda hyped for this loan spell, fingers crossed it works out for both cancelo and barcelona! 💪

omg i'm so stoked about joao cancelo coming back to barcelona!!! 🤩 he was such a beast at city last season and i thought for sure he'd kill it in saudi too, but apparently not 😔. still, 42 appearances is no joke and 4 goals are pretty impressive... plus valverde's squad could use a good ol' fashioned left back. so fingers crossed cancelo can get his mojo working again and help barca make a push for la liga titles 🤞
