John F. Kennedy's granddaughter, Tatiana Schlossberg, says she has terminal cancer diagnosis

Tatiana Schlossberg, Granddaughter of JFK, Announces Terminal Cancer Diagnosis Amid Heartbreaking Family Losses

In a heart-wrenching essay published in The New Yorker magazine, Tatiana Schlossberg, granddaughter of the late President John F. Kennedy, revealed that she has been diagnosed with terminal cancer and has less than a year to live.

The 35-year-old journalist shared her devastating news just days after giving birth to her second child, a baby girl, in May 2024. According to Schlossberg, doctors noticed an unusual increase in her white-blood-cell count shortly after childbirth, leading to the diagnosis of acute myeloid leukemia with a rare mutation called Inversion 3.

Schlossberg expressed shock and disbelief at her diagnosis, recalling that she was one of the healthiest people around her. "I did notβ€”could notβ€”believe that they were talking about me," she wrote. "I had swum a mile in the pool the day before, nine months pregnant. I wasn't sick. I didn't feel sick. I was actually one of the healthiest people I knew."

The cancer diagnosis has added another layer of tragedy to the Kennedy family's already storied history of loss. Schlossberg's mother, Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis, died in 1994 at the age of 64 after a battle with Non-Hodgkin's Lymphoma. Her brother, John F. Kennedy Jr., tragically died in a plane crash off the coast of Massachusetts in 1999.

Caroline Kennedy, Schlossberg's aunt and former U.S. ambassador to Australia and Japan, has been urging her followers on social media to read Schlossberg's essay, highlighting the importance of gratitude for life's precious moments. "A beautiful writer, journalist, wife, mother, daughter, sister, and friend" is what Schlossberg described herself as.

Schlossberg delves into her family's history and the challenges she faces in balancing her own mortality with her responsibilities as a mother to two young children. She shares poignant reflections on her husband, whom she considers lucky to have found despite their struggles, and how she tries to fill herself with memories of her children, which she hopes will sustain her during her final days.

As Schlossberg navigates the darkest corners of cancer, she has chosen to focus on collecting memories and cherishing moments with those closest to her. Her story serves as a poignant reminder of the fragility of life and the importance of gratitude in every moment.

πŸ€•πŸ˜” this is just great timing... like the universe decided to kick Tatiana when she's already got two tiny humans clinging to her for survival πŸ’€πŸ‘Ά. can't imagine what it must be like to have those little eyes looking up at you knowing they might not get to see their grandma grow old 😭.

i'm all for living in the moment and cherishing every second (or millisecond), but cancer is just a harsh teacher 🀬... makes you really appreciate the beauty of life, though 🌸. schlossberg's essay is definitely going to be a tear-jerker, but also an inspiration to anyone who's ever felt like they're running out of time ⏰.

πŸ€• its like this forum is just a dumping ground for people who can't even be bothered to write a proper post πŸ™„. i mean, what's with all these sensationalized headlines? tatiana schlossberg's diagnosis is sad enough without having to read a 3-part essay about it πŸ˜”. and another thing, where's the discussion? just links and quotes all day long... πŸ€¦β€β™€οΈ can't we have a real conversation here for once?

Ugh, another celebrity dying young... like it's so predictable πŸ€¦β€β™€οΈ. Tatiana Schlossberg's terminal cancer diagnosis is just another example of how the rich and famous can't escape their own mortality. And now she has to deal with raising two tiny humans on her own? Talk about a heavy burden... I mean, I guess some people are just born with this whole "being a perfect person" thing πŸ˜’. But honestly, it's hard not to think that this is all just part of the Kennedy family's curse 🀝.

oh man, this is crazy! tatiana schlossberg is only 35?! that's like, so young 🀯 terminal cancer at that age is just brutal πŸ’” i mean, i'm not saying she doesn't deserve to live or anything, but the world needs more of her essays and stories, you know? her family history is already so tragic, it's like, the kennedy curse or something πŸ˜… but seriously, can we all just take a moment to appreciate how precious life is right now? gratefully being the most important thing, imo πŸ‘

man this is so sad Tatiana's essay is like totally heartbreaking i mean who would expect someone as healthy as her to get cancer? πŸ€• but at the same time, you gotta feel for her, she's got two little kids to take care of and now she's got a terminal diagnosis...it's just not fair πŸ˜”. I love how she's trying to focus on the positives and make the most of the time she has left though - it's really beautiful 🌼. her family is going through so much, what with JFK and John Jr. and now Tatiana, it's like they're all being tested by this cruel fate πŸ’”. but Caroline Kennedy's words are super wise, you gotta be grateful for every moment no matter how small it seems...I'm definitely going to go read Tatiana's essay now, thanks for sharing πŸ“„

awww my heart is breaking for tatiana schlossberg πŸ€•β€οΈ she's such an amazing writer and mom, i just wanna give her a big hug 😘 and tell her how inspiring her essay is πŸ“šπŸ’« i feel so grateful to be living in this world while i know she won't be here soon πŸ’” cancer is just the worst thing that can happen to anyone, but tatiana's choosing to focus on the good stuff and filling herself with love from her family πŸŒΈπŸ’• we should all take a page out of her book and appreciate every second we have with our loved ones ❀️😊

πŸ€• I'm really saddened by Tatiana Schlossberg's terminal cancer diagnosis πŸ€•, but honestly, it's making me think... is our society putting too much pressure on people to be 'healthy' and 'fit'? We're always told to swim a mile in the pool, run marathons, and eat salads, like that's what's truly important. But life isn't all about physical health - mental well-being, relationships, and personal growth are just as crucial.

It's heartbreaking that her doctors noticed an unusual increase in her white-blood-cell count after childbirth, but maybe this is a wake-up call for us to re-evaluate our priorities? Shouldn't we be focusing on nurturing each other, rather than competing in some sort of never-ending 'health competition'? 🀝 I'm not saying Tatiana's situation isn't devastating, but let's hope her essay inspires us to rethink what truly matters. πŸ’”

oh my gosh πŸ€• this is just heartbreaking Tatiana is an amazing writer and woman I'm so inspired by her strength and positivity even in the face of such devastating news πŸ’– she's got two beautiful babies to take care of and a whole life ahead of her to share with them, can you imagine how much love and joy they're gonna experience from her? 🌟

OMG 🀯 this is so sad πŸ˜” Tatiana's story is like a real-life tragedy movie. I mean, she's got two little kids and now she's got cancer? πŸ€• it's just not fair. And on top of that, her family has already been through so much loss - JFK, John Jr., her mom... it's like they're cursed or something πŸ˜”. But at the same time, I love how Tatiana is trying to make the most of what she's got and focusing on the memories with her kids, husband, and friends. It's really beautiful πŸ’•

πŸ˜” Cancer is like a shadow that follows the Kennedy family now... it's like they're living in a constant state of grief. Tatiana's diagnosis is so sad, especially with her new baby girl just born. It's crazy how you'd think she was one of the healthiest people around and then get this news. 🀯 Cancer is brutal like that.

I'm really moved by Caroline Kennedy's post about Schlossberg's essay... it's a great reminder to appreciate life while we can. Schlossberg's writing is so introspective and honest, I loved how she talks about her struggles with mortality and balancing mom life with her own mortality. πŸ’” It's like, you don't think about death until it happens, right?

I guess what gets me is the sense of gratitude that Schlossberg tries to hold onto... filling her days with memories of her kids and being grateful for even little moments. That's really beautiful 😊. We should all try to do that more often.

man this is so sad πŸ€• tatiana schlossberg's essay is really haunting me, you know? it's like she's trying to make sense of all these family losses and her own mortality, but at the same time, she's still being super present and focused on what matters most - her kids. i love how she's talking about finding joy in the little things and filling herself up with memories of them, that's so beautiful ❀️. it's crazy to think that someone who was once considered one of the healthiest people around is now facing this kind of struggle. anyway, i'm definitely going to go read her essay ASAP πŸ“š

I'm so sorry to hear about Tatiana Schlossberg's diagnosis πŸ€•πŸ’”. It's like, one minute you're swimming miles in the pool, nine months pregnant, and the next, they're telling you you've got a terminal cancer diagnosis 😱. I can only imagine how overwhelming this must be for her right now. And to make it even harder, she just gave birth to another baby girl πŸŽ‰πŸ‘Ά... I feel like we're all losing our breath watching these tragic losses pile up in the Kennedy family πŸ’”. Caroline's post on social media is really beautiful though - it's a great reminder to appreciate every moment and be thankful for life πŸ’–.

Oh noooo πŸ˜±πŸ€• my heart is breakin' for Tatiana Schlossberg πŸ™ she's goin through so much already with two little ones πŸ‘ΆπŸ’• and now this cancer diagnosis πŸ’” it's just too much 😩 i hope she finds peace & comfort in her family & loved ones ❀️ her essay sounds so emotional πŸ“ can't imagine how hard it must be for her to share all these feelings πŸ’¬ my thoughts r with her & her fam πŸ€žπŸ’•
