Left-Handed Girl to After the Hunt: the seven best films to watch on TV this week

Left-Handed Girl and After the Hunt are among the standout TV offerings this week. First up is Left-Handed Girl, which proves to be a captivating drama about family life set in Taiwan. Janel Tsai stars as Shu-Fen, a devoted single mother whose life is turned upside down when her left-handed son I-Jing and adult daughter I-Ann arrive at their doorstep. Sean Baker's poignant film navigates complex relationships with sensitivity and nuance.

In contrast, After the Hunt takes a darker turn. Julia Roberts stars in Luca Guadagnino's tense drama about two women caught up in the aftermath of a campus rape accusation. The film raises uncomfortable questions about privilege, feminism, and restorative justice, and Roberts delivers a nuanced performance as Alma, a philosophy professor under scrutiny.

Next up is One Shot With Ed Sheeran, an unusual documentary that puts cameras on the singer as he travels through New York City, performing in various settings. It's an amusing look at Sheeran's affability and camaraderie with fans.

Nights of Cabiria is a classic from Federico Fellini, starring Giulietta Masina as a young woman who navigates Rome's streets and nightclubs to find success and connection. This 1957 film showcases the elegance and wit of its star, while also exploring themes of loneliness and human connection.

C'mon C'mon offers a heartwarming drama from Mike Mills, where Joaquin Phoenix stars as radio producer Johnny, who embarks on an emotional journey with his nephew Jesse as they navigate family relationships. The film features terrific performances from Phoenix and Woody Norman.

Last but not least, there's Inglourious Basterds, Quentin Tarantino's 2009 war drama that tells a fictional tale of revenge against Nazis in Nazi-occupied France. This action-packed film stars Brad Pitt as the leader of an elite unit of Jewish-American soldiers on a mission to kill key German officials.

These films are set to air on different channels this week and showcase a range of talents from top directors like Sean Baker, Luca Guadagnino, Mike Mills, and Quentin Tarantino.

idk about these movies... left-handed girl sounds pretty good but i need more info about the plot... what's with shu-fen's life gettin turned upside down? 🤔 is it just cuz her son & daughter show up or is there somethin more to it?

and after the hunt seems kinda heavy... privilege, feminism, restorative justice... sounds like a lot of hot topics but how accurate is this film? are we supposed to feel sorry 4 alma's situation or is it more about critiquin societal norms? 🤷‍♀️

also ed sheeran doc looks pretty entertaining lol... cameras on him as he travels around nyc performing, sounds like a fun guilty pleasure. 🎸

omg i'm so hyped for the new ed sheeran docu "one shot with ed shearan" 🤩 he's literally the nicest person ever, i've followed him on instagram since 2014 and it's crazy to see how down to earth he is in real life. I love how the cameras follow him around NYC performing his songs and interacting with fans, it's like a big ol' music fest 🎶🌆 the fact that sean baker directed left handed girl is also super cool btw

I'm telling you, something fishy is going on here... think about it, all these movies coming out around the same time, just what do they want us to watch? 🤔 It's not like we don't have anything better to do than watch a bunch of oldies and new releases at the same time. What if this is some kind of distraction tactic? 🎬 I mean, have you seen the lineup? Sean Baker, Luca Guadagnino, Mike Mills... all these big names, but what's really going on behind the scenes? Maybe they're trying to brainwash us with their art or something... 😒 And don't even get me started on that one film, One Shot With Ed Sheeran... what's up with cameras following him around everywhere? Is he being watched too? 🕵️‍♂️

idk why everyone's so down about the "darkness" in After the Hunt lol its just a movie, calm down... i mean, julia roberts is actually really good as that drama queen, but some ppl say she's not edgy enough for the role 🤷‍♀️ and honestly, i'm more intrigued by ed sheeran's documentary cuz he's so adorable, who wouldn't wanna watch a day in the life of a cheesy singer? 🎸👀

omg I'm so down for Left-Handed Girl this week 🤩 it's been ages since i've seen anything that really speaks to me about family dynamics and being a single parent Shu-Fen is literally my spirit animal she's got so much love and vulnerability on display Janel Tsai is giving me LIFE btw what's with all the men in these dramas tho can't we have some girl power for once? 🤷‍♀️

I'm loving the diversity in TV offerings this week 📺💥 Left-Handed Girl is so beautifully shot, you can really feel the emotions of Shu-Fen and her family 👪. And I think After the Hunt tackles some super uncomfortable questions about privilege and feminism - it's not always easy to watch but it's definitely thought-provoking 💡. One Shot With Ed Sheeran is just a fun romp through NYC, you get to see the real Ed behind the scenes 🎸. Nights of Cabiria is a classic for a reason, Giulietta Masina shines as always 💫. And C'mon C'mon has me feeling all the feels, Joaquin Phoenix and Woody Norman are amazing together 😊. Last one Inglourious Basterds is just epic, I love how Quentin Tarantino brings history to life on screen 🎥.

I just got back from the most amazing food festival in LA 🌮😋. They had this one stall that served the crispiest Korean fried chicken I've ever tasted... I mean, have you ever tried it? It's like a flavor explosion in your mouth! Anyway, I was thinking about how much I love trying new foods and drinks while watching TV, maybe I'll grab some snacks for my next movie night 🍿👀. One thing that got me thinking is, have you seen that new ice cream shop downtown? I heard it's making these crazy unique flavors... anyway, back to the festival - they had this one vendor who made these adorable little buns shaped like animals, so cute!
