Man killed in Bronx hit-and-run crash on Grand Concourse, police say

A Bronx man's life was cut short in a devastating hit-and-run crash that left witnesses shaken. The tragic incident occurred Sunday night around 10:40 p.m. on the Grand Concourse near East Burnside Avenue, where a lone driver plowed into an unresponsive pedestrian and fled the scene without stopping.

Eyewitnesses called 911 after witnessing the horrific accident, prompting emergency responders to rush the injured man to St. Barnabas Hospital, where he sadly succumbed to his injuries.

Police are currently investigating the incident, but no arrests have been made as of yet. The suspect's vehicle remains unknown, with details about the car still under investigation. Authorities stress that they will continue working tirelessly to piece together the events leading up to and following the crash.

A recent trend in traffic fatalities within the 46th Precinct – where the tragic event took place – suggests a concerning spike in accidents, but it's worth noting this particular incident is an isolated one. However, broader citywide statistics indicate a notable decrease of nearly 19% in fatal crashes over the past year, offering a glimmer of hope in efforts to reduce road violence.

As police continue their pursuit for answers and justice, concerns about the suspect's whereabouts and potential accomplices linger. With ongoing investigations under way, officials urge citizens to remain vigilant and report any information that might aid in solving this heinous crime.

🚨💔 omg how could someone just speed off like that?!?! the guy was already hurt as bad as it sounds 🤯 and now his family has to live with the pain of knowing their loved one was left for dead 😢. i'm so angry about this but at the same time i'm glad there are witnesses who came forward and reported what they saw... that's what's keeping us safe on our streets, right? 😤 police need to catch this person ASAP so justice can be served 🕵️‍♂️

Man, this is just so sad 🤕... but at least we're getting that there's been a 19% decrease in fatal crashes overall, which is actually kinda awesome 😊! I mean, sure, this one guy's life was cut short, and that's heartbreaking, but it's also a reminder of how much progress has been made. Fingers crossed the police can catch the guy who did this and bring some closure to the family 🤞... and that other areas where traffic fatalities have spiked get attention too, so we don't see more people getting hurt like this 😔.

Ugh, can't believe what I just read 🤯... people are supposed to stop when they hit someone who's down on the ground? It's not like it's a big ask 🙄. And now some poor dude is dead because of that guy's carelessness 😢. Hopefully, cops catch this person ASAP and get some answers 💡. Would be nice if we could all just look out for each other on the roads 👍.

man whats going on with these hit-and-run drivers lately?? they dont even care about human life, just speedin down the street like they own the place 🚗😡 i feel so angry thinking about this poor guy who lost his life... 19% decrease in fatal crashes is a step in the right direction tho, but we gotta keep pushin for more improvements in our city's streets 😊

this is just so sad what happened to that guy his life was cut short like that 😔🚨 i think it's super sad that the driver left the scene without stopping can you imagine not even checking if the person was okay 🤕 anyway i do hope the police find out who did this and get them justice ASAP 💪

this is really sad... a life cut short like that... 🤕 you'd think people would be more careful on the road, especially at night when it's harder to see... i don't blame the eyewitnesses for calling 911 tho, they were just reacting to what they saw... hopefully police can catch the person who did this and get some answers out of them... it's crazy that no one was arrested yet, but i guess sometimes these things take time... anyways, let's hope that there are more people like the victims who didn't survive accidents, so we can all learn from this and try to be safer on the roads 🚗💡
