Margot Robbie in red latex, Kate Bush impersonators and a pint of Emily ale: my crash course in Brontëmania

🌿 I think it's really cool how Haworth has become a tourist destination, especially with all the festivals like Wuthering Heights Day 🎉. But what I'm curious about is how we can balance preserving the history and legacy of authors like the Brontës with modern interpretations and reinterpretations 🤔. For example, when it comes to films or adaptations, should we be faithful to the original book or try something new? It's all about finding that balance between honoring the past and engaging with new audiences 📚💡

I gotta say, I'm not entirely convinced by the film adaptation of Wuthering Heights 🤔. I mean, don't get me wrong, Andrea Riseborough is amazing as Cathy, but some people are gonna be like, "What's up with Heathcliff? He's just...white?" 😒 It's a problem, you know? And yeah, Fennell says it was a personal project and all that, but I'm not buying it. Can't we just stick to the original story without trying to make some kinda point about racism or whatever 🤷‍♀️.

But for real though, Emily Brontë's poetry is LIFE.CHANGING 💫. Diane Park said it gets so deep into your soul, and that's no joke! I mean, I'm not saying the film was bad or anything, but if you're gonna make a Wuthering Heights adaptation, you gotta get it right, you feel me? 🤗 The Brontës' writing is like, the ultimate feelings thing 💔. It's like they knew how to tap into our emotions and create this whole other world...anyway, that's just my two cents 💸.
