Match of the Day: Alexander Isak at Liverpool Analysis

Liverpool fans may be breathing a sigh of relief, but Alexander Isak's recent performances for the Reds still have them wondering what could be. The Swedish striker has shown glimpses of his quality, particularly in front of goal, where he has consistently found the back of the net.

However, as Match of the Day pundit Alan Shearer pointed out during the post-match analysis, there are still concerns about Isak's ability to connect with his Liverpool teammates. The Swede seems to be holding himself up a bit too much, making it difficult for him to unlock defenders on his own.

In order for Isak to become a top-class striker at Liverpool, he will need to work on his movement and link-up play. He needs to be more aggressive in dropping deep and creating space for himself, rather than relying solely on his pace to get past opponents.

Despite these concerns, Isak's raw talent is undeniable, and with some fine-tuning, he could become a real threat to opposing defenses. For now, though, it seems that Liverpool will need to continue working with him to unlock his full potential.

Isak's recent goal against West Ham was a prime example of this. While he showed great composure in front of goal, he struggled to find space and create opportunities for himself before scoring the equalizer. It's clear that the Swede has the ability to be a top-class striker, but it will take time and practice to develop the necessary skills.

In the meantime, Liverpool fans will continue to hope that Isak can build on his recent performances and become a key player in the team's success. With patience and hard work, he could finally become the striker they know he can be.

still don't get it about isak...i mean i love watching him play, but sometimes i feel like he's playing with 3 defenders on his back 🤔. needs to let go of that extra bit of effort and just trust himself a bit more 💪. also, what happened to salah and mane? they used to be the goal-scoring machine...now it's all about isak for liverpool fans 😐.

I think Isak needs to find a balance between using his pace to get past defenders and actually creating space for himself through movement and link-up play 🤔💡 He's got the raw talent, but it's like he's holding back on himself a bit too much at times. Remember when he scored that equalizer against West Ham? It was all cool and composed upfront, but before that, he just kind of stood there waiting for something to happen... needs to take more initiative 🏃‍♂️

I think Isak is gonna get there eventually... 😊 his pace is unreal, no doubt about it! but yeah, connecting with teammates is key. He needs to drop deep more often and create space for himself, rather than just relying on speed. that goal against West Ham was a good example of this - he had some great composure in front of goal, but didn't really do much to create opportunities before scoring. still, the kid's got talent pouring out of every pore! 🤩

omg u guys I'm lowkey concerned about alex isak lol 🤔 he's got all the skills but like can't seem to gel with his teammates rn 😬 his movement & link-up play need major work fam! 💪 i mean, he's got that pace for days but it's not enough if he can't create space for himself 🏃‍♂️ needs to drop deeper & be more aggressive, y'know? 🔥 still got faith in him tho, raw talent is real 🔥👍

🤔 I'm not sure if I agree with Alan Shearer's assessment of Isak's movement on the pitch... it seems like he's doing just fine for himself, but maybe we're expecting too much from him to create chances for others? 😊 He's got that quality in front of goal and his pace is a major asset. But what if they focus more on creating space for him, rather than having him make up for the team's lack of movement? 🤷‍♂️

I'm not sure if Isak is being given enough time to settle into the team...he's been playing some decent games, but you can tell there's still a bit of rustiness around him 😊. The thing that's really holding him back is his movement on the pitch - he seems to be isolated quite often, and it's like he's just relying on his pace to get away from defenders rather than actually creating space for himself through clever footwork or positioning 👀.

I think Liverpool need to work with Isak more on how to create those opportunities for himself. It's great that he's scoring goals, but if he's not creating chances, it doesn't really matter how many goals he scores. And yeah, I can see what Alan Shearer meant - the guy does seem a bit withdrawn at times, which makes it hard to know where he is on the pitch...still, there's definitely potential there and with some tweaks, I think Isak could be a real game-changer for Liverpool 🤔

😐 I think he's got the talent but needs to work on his teamwork skills... it's like he's trying to do too much all by himself, you know? 🤔 He's gotta learn to trust those around him and just chill a bit more on the pitch. 👍 Still loving the goal against West Ham though, what a finish! 💪
