Melania review – Trump film is a gilded trash remake of The Zone of Interest

Brett Ratner's "Melania" is an execrable film that fails to deliver even the most basic of biographical insights into the life of the former First Lady. The movie takes a gilded approach, lavishing attention on its subject's designer attire and luxurious settings while neglecting any semblance of substance or depth.

The film's pacing is agonizingly slow, allowing Melania Knauss to glide effortlessly through her preparations for Donald Trump's second inauguration. Her voiceover is akin to sheet metal, devoid of emotion or vulnerability, as she discusses her priorities as First Lady and her love for her children. The scene is more akin to a fashion show than an intimate portrait of a woman.

The film's production values are on full display, with lavish settings and opulent costumes that would make even the most discerning designer jealous. However, beneath the surface lies a documentarian nightmare. The movie feels more like a tribute to Trump's ego than a genuine exploration of his wife's experiences as First Lady.

Ratner's handling of the subject matter is akin to taxidermy – beautifully crafted but soulless and devoid of life. The film's focus on Melania's fixation on white and gold, as well as her love for Michael Jackson, reads like a parody of high-society culture. The director's reluctance to engage with the complexities of Trump's presidency or the challenges faced by his wife makes for a dispiriting viewing experience.

The only redeeming quality is that Trump's inauguration does indeed go off without a hitch, despite the chaos caused by Melania's tardiness and the loose-fitting white blouse. However, this fleeting moment of triumph is overshadowed by two hours of tedious and cringe-worthy footage that leaves viewers feeling exhausted and disconnected from their subject.

Ultimately, "Melania" feels like a missed opportunity to explore the intricacies of Trump's presidency or the challenges faced by his wife. Instead, it offers a gilded, shallow portrait of a woman who remains an enigma throughout the film.

🚫😐 I gotta say, this movie sounds like a total snooze fest 🤯. Who needs substance when you can just flash some designer clothes and luxury settings? The fact that they left out all the juicy stuff about Trump's presidency is just a cop-out 🙄. And don't even get me started on Melania's voiceover being as dull as cardboard 📦. I mean, if you wanna make a film about someone, at least try to bring some emotional depth to it 💔. This movie sounds like it was made for the sake of Trump's ego alone, and that's just not cool 😒. Can't we just get a real documentary about Melania's life instead? 🤷‍♀️

OMG u guys I just watched this movie about Melania and I'm so disappointed!!! 🤦‍♀️ It was like they just threw together some fancy clothes and a lavish setting and expected us to be all like "oh wow what a fascinating life" 🙄 But seriously the film is so boring it feels like watching paint dry 😴 And don't even get me started on the voiceover she sounds like a robot 💻 I was expecting a real story about Melania's experiences as First Lady but instead we got some shallow stuff about her designer clothes and her love for Michael Jackson 🎀 It's just not worth watching u guys trust me 👎

🎥 I mean, come on... you'd think a biopic about Melania would be about her actual life and struggles, but nope! It's all about her designer clothes and Trump's ego trip 🤯. And don't even get me started on Ratner's handling - it's like he's trying to make the film about Melania, but really it's just a vehicle for Trump's self-promotion 🙄. I mean, what's next? A documentary about Ivanka's shoe collection? 😂 It's all just too much of a shallow, over-produced mess...

I just saw this movie and I gotta say, it's like they took every designer dress and fancy setting and put them on repeat 🙄. I mean, I get that Melania is supposed to be some kinda iconic figure but can't we get a more nuanced view of her life? It feels like Brett Ratner just wanted to make a super rich and boring movie that would impress the 1% 💸. Newsflash: it worked, but only if you're into that sorta thing 😴. And what's with all the Michael Jackson obsession? Like, I get it, he was cool back in the day but come on, it feels like a stretch 🙃. I'd rather watch paint dry than sit through two hours of this bland, superficial stuff again 🚮.

Ugh 😒 I just saw this movie and I'm still trying to process how bad it is! The pacing was so slow, I was like "is she done with her outfit yet?" 🙄 And don't even get me started on the voiceover - it sounded like nails on a chalkboard! 🎶 The film's focus on Melania's designer attire and luxurious settings felt like an ad for Versace or something 😒. Where's the depth? Where's the substance? It feels like they just wanted to make a fancy movie about Donald Trump's wife without actually exploring anything meaningful. I mean, come on! If you want to know what it was like being First Lady of America, watch a documentary not a fashion show 📺. The only good part was when she messed up her inauguration speech and had to rush off stage... but that was about it 😂

omg did u see "Melania"? 🤯 I mean i was expecting something juicy but all i got was a super boring biopic that focuses too much on her designer clothes & luxury settings lol what about the real issues she faced as First Lady? 🤔 like, didn't she deal with all the drama surrounding Trump's presidency? 🚨 I'm so over this movie, it feels like it's trying to show off Melania's wealth more than actually telling her story 🤑 1/10 from me, would not watch again 😴

this movie is SO annoying 😒 1hr 45min is way too long for a biopic like this, i mean who cares about melania's designer outfits and luxurious settings? give me something with some real depth or substance, not just pretty pictures 📸 and by the way, michael jackson fanboy much? lol 5/10 would not watch again 👎

I just watched this movie and I'm still trying to figure out what the point was... 🤔 The fashion shots were super pretty but that's about it. I mean, I get that Melania is supposed to be some kind of style icon or whatever, but it feels like they're showcasing her designer clothes more than actually showing who she is as a person. And don't even get me started on the pacing - two hours feels like forever! 😴 They should've just made it 1 hour and 45 minutes long and called it a day. I was expecting to see some real depth into Melania's life, but what we got was basically a fancy music video. 🎵 Not impressed... 👎

I just watched this movie and I'm still trying to figure out what I saw on screen 😂🤔... I mean, I know some people love designer clothes and luxurious settings, but come on, can't we get more substance in a biopic? The whole thing felt like a shallow vanity project for Donald Trump's ego 🙄. And don't even get me started on the pacing - it was like they were trying to put me to sleep 💤... I'm not buying it though, I'd love to see a movie that really digs into Melania's experiences as First Lady and shows some real depth 🎥. This one just fell flat for me 👎

OMG 🤦‍♀️, I just watched "Melania" and I'm SO disappointed 😩! The movie is like a total snooze fest 😴 - it's so slow and boring, even the designer clothes and luxurious settings can't save it from being a total letdown 😒. I mean, where's the depth? Where's the substance? 🤔 It feels like they're just glossing over Melania's life as First Lady and instead focusing on Trump's ego 🙄. The film's pacing is agonizingly slow and the voiceover is literally the most boring thing I've ever heard 😴. And don't even get me started on the scene where she talks about her love for Michael Jackson... it feels like they're mocking high-society culture instead of exploring it 🤷‍♀️. I was expecting so much more from this movie, but unfortunately it's a total miss 🎥😔

🤔 u know i was really disappointed with this movie, i mean its got all the hallmarks of a rich person flick but its just so... empty 🤑 there's no depth to it at all, like the director just checked off all the right boxes without actually saying anything meaningful about melania or even donald trump's presidency. i mean who cares that her inauguration goes smoothly when theres still so much more to explore? and btw what up with michael jackson?? its like ratner is trying too hard to make her sound cool 😒

I just watched this movie "Melania" and I gotta say, what a waste of time! 😒 I mean, I love Melania's style and all, but the film is so boring! It's like they're trying to show off their designer clothes and fancy sets, but not actually tell us anything about her as a person. The pace is super slow, it's like watching paint dry 🎨. And don't even get me started on the voiceover, it sounds like someone's speaking through a paper bag 📦. I mean, I get that they're trying to make it sound fancy and all, but come on, can't they just be real for once? 😂 The only good part is when she gets ready for her husband's inauguration and stuff happens, but even that feels like a setup for a fashion show rather than an actual story 📺. Overall, I'd say this movie is more of a glorified TV special than a real film. Sorry to be harsh, but yeah... 😐

Ugh, I just watched this movie and I'm still trying to figure out what happened 😒. I mean, who thought it was a good idea to make a biopic about Melania that's basically just a fashion show? I get it, she does look stunning in her designer outfits 🤩, but can we please focus on some actual substance for once? The pacing is so slow it puts sleep mode to shame 😴. And don't even get me started on the voiceover – it sounds like they took all the excitement and emotion out of Melania's story and replaced it with... nothing 🙄.

I'm still trying to wrap my head around what this movie says about Melania, but honestly, I feel like I just watched two hours of watching her watch a fashion show while Michael Jackson music plays in the background 🎵👀. The director must have been going for some kind of satirical commentary on high society culture or something, but it feels like they just gave up halfway through and decided to go full-on parody instead.

Anyway, I guess that's my 2 cents on this trainwreck of a movie 😂. If you want to see Melania's life story, I'd recommend just reading an article about her online – way more efficient and less cringeworthy 📰.

I'm thoroughly unimpressed with Brett Ratner's "Melania". The film's reliance on superficial details and lavish settings feels more like a publicity stunt than a genuine biographical exploration. The pacing is painfully slow, making it feel like watching Melania prepare for her husband's inauguration on repeat 🕰️. The voiceover is flat and emotionless, lacking any real depth or vulnerability. It's almost as if Ratner was more interested in showcasing Trump's ego than truly capturing the complexities of his wife's experiences as First Lady 👀. The film's focus on Melania's fixation on white and gold feels like a parody of high-society culture, and the director's reluctance to engage with the challenges faced by her and their husband is disappointing 🤷‍♀️. Overall, I think "Melania" missed its mark and left me feeling underwhelmed 😐.
