Michael O'Brien's Super 25 high school basketball rankings for Dec. 7, 2025

Top-ranked DePaul Prep continues its winning streak with a loss to La Lumiere, but still holds onto the top spot in the Super 25 high school basketball rankings for Dec. 7, 2025.

Coming in at number two is Curie, who has catapulted up the rankings after knocking off Warren, a highly-touted opponent. The Condors, led by senior Justin Oliver, are known for their chemistry and defensive prowess, which may have gone unnoticed in previous seasons. This year, they've risen to the top as a formidable force in the Public League.

Homewood-Flossmoor is also making waves with its impressive start, handling weaker opponents early on and then pulling off a major upset against Bolingbrook at the Chicago Elite Classic. The Vikings' hot begin has been attributed to coach Brandin Brown's emphasis on teamwork, as well as the emergence of key players like senior forward Marvin Douglas.

The Super 25 rankings have undergone some significant shifts this week, with five teams dropping out after suffering losses. DePaul Prep remains atop the list, while Thornwood joins Homewood-Flossmoor in the top 20. However, there are signs that the current rankings may be flimsy and subject to change as the season progresses.

The upcoming Team Rose Shootout at Mount Carmel promises to be an exciting event, with several high-ranked teams set to face off against each other. Meanwhile, the Illinois high school basketball scene is poised for a thrilling finish to the season, with many top contenders jockeying for position in the final rankings.

I'm keeping an eye on these rankings and I gotta say, DePaul Prep's winning streak is impressive but it's only been three games ๐Ÿค”. They're still getting beaten by some decent opponents which raises questions about their consistency. Meanwhile, Curie's rise to the top is exciting, but they've got a tough schedule coming up with some of these top teams. And what's with all the dropouts? It feels like one or two losses can knock out a team's ranking ๐Ÿ“‰. Still, it's gonna be an interesting finish to the season... I'm leaning towards it being anyone's game, not just these top-ranked teams ๐Ÿ’ช

๐Ÿค” I'm not buying this Super 25 rankings thing just yet... DePaul Prep's win over La Lumiere might've looked impressive on paper, but what about the opponents they beat? ๐Ÿ“Š They were still pretty soft, if you ask me. Meanwhile, teams like Curie and Homewood-Flossmoor are getting a lot of love for beating some weaker opponents, but that doesn't necessarily scream "top-ranked" to me... I mean, what about consistency? ๐Ÿคทโ€โ™‚๏ธ And have we seen enough from these teams to justify their high rankings just yet? ๐Ÿ“Š

omg i cant even keep track of all these schools and their rankings lol what's the team that won against Bolingbrook tho? and why is there so many teams from chicago on this list?

i wonder if they have playoffs like in other sports did depep prep lose to anyone besides la lumiere? also who is marvin douglas? sounds like he's pretty important to homewood-flossmoor's win

I'm loving this time of year for hoops ๐Ÿ€! You can tell these young ballers are hungry for that championship title. I remember when my kids were playing in high school, it was all about the teamwork and chemistry, just like Coach Brown is emphasizing with Homewood-Flossmoor. It's great to see those values paying off on the court.

And DePaul Prep still at the top? That's impressive! They must be doing something right. I'm curious to see how they'll fare against some of the other top teams in the state, especially with that Team Rose Shootout coming up. It's gonna be a wild ride, that's for sure ๐Ÿ˜„.

One thing that's been on my mind is how these rankings can shift so much from one week to the next. I mean, we all know the team's record isn't everything โ€“ it's about how they perform under pressure and how their chemistry holds up against tough opponents. But still, it's fun to watch these young athletes battle it out for that top spot! ๐Ÿ‘

๐Ÿ˜‚ just wondering why there's always one team that has to be number one ๐Ÿคทโ€โ™€๏ธ, like it's a badge of honor or something? and five teams dropping out in one week? that's a lot of upsets... or maybe they're just getting used to losing ๐Ÿ˜…. anyway, gotta give it to Curie for pulling off that upset against Warren, nice job! ๐Ÿ‘

man, i'm loving the competitive vibe in the illinois hs hoops scene this year ๐Ÿคฉ, but gotta wonder if these rankings are gonna hold up as the season goes on... seems like there's some pretty big drops and some teams just kinda cruising to easy wins ๐Ÿ™„, dePaul prep is lookin good for now though, their chemistry and defense are straight fire ๐Ÿ”ฅ, and homewood-flossmoor's coaching is makin some waves with that teamwork emphasis ๐Ÿ‘ gotta see how the rest of the season plays out tho... might be a lot of upsets in store ๐Ÿคฏ

I gotta say, I'm a bit skeptical about these rankings ๐Ÿค”. I mean, DePaul Prep lost to La Lumiere and still holds onto the number one spot? That's some weak sauce right there ๐Ÿ˜‚. And what's up with Curie jumping all the way to number two after beating Warren? It's just not that impressive when you look at their stats.

And don't even get me started on Homewood-Flossmoor ๐Ÿ™„. Their wins are cute and all, but they're playing against some pretty weak opponents early on. I mean, Bolingbrook isn't exactly the toughest opponent out there ๐Ÿ˜…. And what's with coach Brandin Brown's emphasis on teamwork? That sounds like a buzzword to me ๐Ÿคทโ€โ™‚๏ธ.

And have you seen the teams that dropped out of the rankings after losing? Like, five teams in one week? That's some crazy inconsistency right there ๐Ÿคฏ. I mean, can't these teams just get it together for once? ๐Ÿ™„

omg i cant even believe what im seeing here de paul prep is still on top but curie just knocked off warren and everyone thought they were gonna be next in line lol now they're number two and its about time the rest of the league knows theyre a force to be reckoned with meanwhile homewood-flossmoor is getting all this love for being the underdogs but what really impressed me was marist's 4-1 record i mean theyre not just some flash in the pan team theyve got game

and can we talk about the top 20 for a sec? everyone's so worried about de paul prep staying on top but honestly its gonna be a battle for the ages this season with so many teams rising to the challenge and giving it their all i mean waukegan just went 5-1 and people arent even giving them the love they deserve

i swear the super 25 rankings are so up in the air right now you never know what's gonna happen next but thats what makes high school basketball so thrilling its not just about winning or losing its about the journey and the thrill of competition
