Morrissey Kicks Off 2026 in Troubling Fashion with Concert Cancellations.
In the midst of a new year, Morrissey has continued his tradition of canceling or postponing concerts at the last minute. The singer's latest move comes just months after he rescheduled and then canceled numerous shows due to exhaustion.
On New Year's Eve, fans were informed that Morrissey would be performing in Rancho Mirage, California on Saturday night; however, only a few hours later, it was announced that the show had been postponed "due to an adverse reaction to a prescription medication." This decision meant that ticket holders should hold onto their tickets as they will be honored for a rescheduled date.
On the other hand, fans attending Morrissey's January 6th concert in San Diego received devastating news - the show was canceled outright with no intention of rescheduling. In contrast to Rancho Mirage, there were no refunds available at point of purchase for the San Diego event.
Morrissey's most recent series of US concerts is now expected to resume on January 10th in San Antonio, although fans have grown accustomed to last-minute changes and cancellations from the singer. Following this, Morrissey has five additional US dates before embarking on a European tour in February, including a previously canceled gig in the Dominican Republic.
Morrissey's penchant for canceling concerts is nothing new, having canceled 22 shows in 2025 alone, with another 10 gigs postponed. While fans are growing increasingly frustrated with these last-minute changes, it seems that Morrissey has other plans on the horizon - including a long-awaited record deal with Sire Records to release at least two of his shelved albums, which have not been released since 2020's "I Am Not a Dog on a Chain".
