National treasures to be displayed in Dearborn this July - Detroit Metro Times

This summer, the Henry Ford museum in Dearborn will become a treasure trove for American history buffs. As part of an eight-city tour across the nation, "Documents That Forged a Nation" - a showcase featuring historic documents from the US's founding era - is set to descend upon the museum starting July 9th.

The exhibit, presented by the National Archives and Records Administration in collaboration with the National Archives Foundation, promises to give visitors an unparalleled glimpse into the lives of America's founding fathers. Curated around the country to celebrate the nation's 250th anniversary, this unique opportunity will allow Americans from all walks of life to witness firsthand the people and principles that shaped the United States.

The Freedom Plane National Tour boasts a star-studded lineup of historical artifacts, including an engraved copy of the Declaration of Independence - one of just 50 known copies. The exhibit also includes pivotal documents such as the Articles of Association, calling for a boycott on British goods; Oaths of Allegiance from George Washington, Alexander Hamilton, and Aaron Burr; the Treaty of Paris, which formally recognized the United States as an independent nation; a rare copy of the US Constitution in its draft form; and a tally of votes approving the constitution.

Organizers hail this exhibit as a fitting tribute to America's rich history, with senior advisor to the archivist of the United States, Jim Byron, stating that "there is no more noteworthy occasion than America's 250th birthday" to share this incredible story. The Freedom Plane National Tour promises to inspire Americans to champion the nation's founding ideals into the future.

Admission to the exhibit is free and open to the public; however, visitors are required to reserve tickets in advance at thehenryford.org.

OMG 🀩 I'm so stoked that they're bringing this awesome exhibit to the Henry Ford museum! 250th anniversary of America's founding? That's like, whoa! 🀯 I remember learning about the Constitution and the Declaration in school back in '02, but this is gonna be on a whole different level. They've got an engraved copy of the Declaration of Independence? That's, like, totally iconic dude! πŸ’₯ And they're including all these other historical docs that shaped America into what it is today? It's gonna be so cool to see them in person! I'm definitely gonna try and check it out when it comes to Dearborn. Free admission is a bonus too - win-win! 😊

OMG, can you believe this?! They're basically giving away a piece of American history 🀯! The Henry Ford museum already has so much awesome stuff on display but adding these historic documents is gonna take it to the NEXT LEVEL πŸ’₯. I mean, who wouldn't want to see a rare copy of the Declaration of Independence in person? It's like stepping into a time machine πŸ•°οΈ. And can you imagine walking through that exhibit and feeling like you're actually part of American history? It's gonna be SO cool! Plus, it's free and open to the public - what's not to love?! Make sure to grab those tickets ASAP 'cause this is gonna be HUGE πŸ’ͺ

πŸ€” I mean come on, July 9th is just like, a month before summer even starts? You'd think they'd want to kick off this huge exhibit when it's actually warm outside and people can appreciate the historic documents more easily. Plus, who needs to reserve tickets in advance? Isn't it about making history accessible to everyone? I guess it's a good thing admission is free, but still... 😊

OMG, can you even imagine being able to see an engraved copy of the Declaration of Independence in person?! 🀯 It's like, totally mind-blowing! And they're featuring some seriously pivotal documents, too - I mean, who wouldn't want to see the Articles of Association or the Treaty of Paris? πŸ“œ The fact that admission is free is even more amazing, don't you think? 😊 According to the National Archives Foundation, this exhibit has already visited over 2.5 million people across the US since its launch in January - that's just crazy! 🀯 Here's a fun stat: if the entire population of the US were to visit each exhibit location, it would take around 1,500 years to get through all the museums... Talk about taking your time to appreciate history! 😲

Here are some more stats:

* The National Archives and Records Administration has over 225 million documents in its collections
* The most popular document on display is the Preamble to the US Constitution - it's been viewed by over 1 million people so far!
* The exhibit will travel to a total of eight cities across the US, covering over 50% of the country
* The National Archives Foundation has a social media reach of over 10 million followers

Isn't that cool? πŸ€“

omg I'm so down for this 🀩! I was just thinking about how cool it would be to see those founding documents in person πŸ“œπŸ’₯ I mean, can you even imagine being able to touch the Declaration of Independence? 😲 that's like a total trip back in time, ya know? πŸ•°οΈ and I love that they're doing this tour all around the country - it's gonna be so awesome for history buffs to see these exhibits in different places πŸ—ΊοΈ. and $20 for admission isn't too bad either...I think I'm gonna try to sneak out of work for a day and head on over to the Henry Ford museum πŸ•°οΈπŸ˜œ

idk why ppl need 8 cities tour on historic docs πŸ€” but thats cool i guess. Henry Ford museum will def be a sick spot for history buffs tho πŸ’― like who doesn't wanna see orig decl of indep πŸ“œ? sounds like super educational too, not just some old stuff on display πŸ‘€. free admission tho is a nice touch πŸ™ wish ppl would take advantage of it tho πŸ€¦β€β™‚οΈ, seems like a once in a lifetime thing πŸŽ‰. btw, how many ppl actually know all the founding docs by heart? πŸ˜…

omg I'm low-key excited for this! 🀩 like who doesn't wanna see a real life copy of the declaration of independence? πŸ’₯ it's crazy that they're bringing all these historical documents on tour, my grandma used to tell me stories about her grandpa being part of the founding era but never thought we'd get to see actual pieces of history like this 🀯

i love how they're making an effort to make this exhibit accessible for everyone, free admission and all that. it's so cool that they're celebrating our 250th anniversary in a big way πŸ’ͺ my little cousins would freak out if they got to see this stuff in person!

πŸ€” thinkin about this exhibit... it's all about lookin back at how america came to be but what really matters is how we move forward from those values. so many ppl get caught up in the 'old days' and forget that our nation was built on some pretty flawed principles. like, have u ever stopped 2 think about wht the articles of association were all about? it was a boycott on british goods... sounds nice 2day but back then it was kinda radical. πŸ€‘ anyways, i guess what im sayin is, we need 2 acknowledge our history and all its complexities but also keep lookin forward 2 a better future. can't just celebrate the founding era without thinkin about wht's next πŸ’‘

OMG 🀯 I'm so hyped for this exhibit! It's gonna be amazing to see those historic docs in person πŸ“œπŸ”₯ The fact that they have an engraved copy of the Declaration of Independence is insane 😲 50 known copies? That's like, super rare! And can you imagine seeing the Treaty of Paris and the US Constitution in its draft form? Mind blown 🀯

I think it's a great idea to make this exhibit available to the public for free πŸŽ‰ It's gonna be a perfect way to celebrate America's 250th anniversary and share that history with everyone πŸ’• I'm definitely reserving my tickets ASAP πŸ˜… Can't wait to visit the Henry Ford museum and learn more about our country's founding era πŸš€
