Never forget a face? You could be a super recogniser – podcast

The ability to remember faces, or super recognisers as some researchers call them, can be a valuable asset in both personal and professional life. But how does one determine if they possess this unique skill?

Researchers have developed tests designed to assess an individual's facial recognition abilities. One such test is the UNSW Face Test, which involves viewing a series of images of people with distinct facial features and identifying who is who. Another popular option is the Super Recognisers Greenwich Test.

These tests can help identify individuals with exceptional face recognition skills, but it's essential to note that being able to remember faces doesn't necessarily make someone a super recogniser. Research suggests that this ability can be developed through practice and training, making it more accessible than previously thought.

Supporting the development of facial recognition abilities is crucial in various fields such as law enforcement, security, and surveillance. Super recognisers have been employed in these sectors to aid in identifying suspects and solving crimes.

While having exceptional face recognition skills can be a valuable asset, it's equally important to remember that this ability should not be taken lightly. Misusing this skill for malicious purposes could lead to significant consequences.

By taking one of the available tests, individuals can gain insight into their facial recognition abilities and whether they possess super recogniser qualities.

I just took the UNSW Face Test and I'm like 80% sure I got it right lol 😂👀 but seriously, I think this is a great way to assess our face rec skills! I mean, who doesn't want to know if they can spot a familiar face in a crowd? 💡 It's also kinda cool that people with super recogniser skills are being used in law enforcement and stuff. It just goes to show how useful it can be in real life 🕵️‍♀️👮‍♂️, but at the same time we gotta make sure we're not misusing it for evil purposes 😳 gotta stay responsible! 👍

I feel like these tests are a no-brainer, you know? I mean, who wouldn't wanna know if they're a super recogniser, right? But at the same time, it's crazy how many people don't even realize they have this skill... and now there are actual tests to figure it out. It's mind-blowing! 🤯 Like, I'm pretty good at remembering faces myself, but I never thought about it being a super recogniser thing... does that make sense? 😊

Just think about how much our lives are changed by being able to recognize faces... but it's not just about spotting a familiar face in a crowd 😊. It's like having an extra layer of observation, you know? And yeah, practice makes perfect! 📚 But what I find kinda interesting is that researchers say it's not a fixed trait - we can actually develop this skill over time. That's pretty cool, right? 💡

🤔 I think it's pretty cool that researchers have created tests to help people figure out if they've got this awesome face-recognition skill 📸. It's like, we're all good at recognizing faces in our daily lives, but do we know how good we are? 😂 Taking one of these tests could be a fun and interesting way to learn more about ourselves.

It's also super cool that this ability can be developed through practice and training 💪. I mean, imagine being able to recognize faces from all around the world without even trying! 🌎 It would be so helpful in things like law enforcement and security, but yeah, we gotta make sure it's used for good not evil 😬.

I guess what I'm saying is that having super recogniser skills could be pretty awesome, but we gotta be careful with how we use them 💭. Anyway, it's interesting to think about... 👀

I think its awesome how these new face recognition test are being developed 🤔. Its like, you know when you're at a party or something and you can't remember all those faces? But some people, they're just like "oh yeah, I saw that guy on the news last week" 📰. And it makes sense that researchers would want to figure out how to tap into that skill. Like, law enforcement and security could use it to identify suspects and catch bad guys more easily 💼. But at the same time, we gotta be careful not to abuse this power, you know? Misusing face recognition skills could lead to some major problems 😬. Its all about balance, I guess.

I'm kinda skeptical about these tests tho 🤔. I mean, how reliable are they really? Can we just take a test and suddenly become a super recogniser overnight? 💯 It sounds too easy. And what's with the idea that face recognition skills can be developed through practice? I think it's more complex than that 😒. Plus, what about people who have to deal with facial diversity on a daily basis? Like, waiters or shopkeepers or something? Are they just gonna magically become super recognisers too? 🤷‍♂️ I don't know, man... this all seems like a bit of a pipe dream to me 😴. But at the same time, I get why law enforcement and security agencies need people with exceptional face recognition skills... it's a valuable asset for sure 💡. Just gotta be careful not to take shortcuts or use it for malicious purposes 🚫.

I don't trust these tests tbh 🤔. Like, what if someone just happens to be really good at recognizing faces by chance? How can we be sure it's not just a fluke? And what about the ones who are really bad at it? Do they get rejected too? It seems like just another way for companies to exploit people's skills and use them for their own gain 💸.

😂 I mean, can you imagine being a master of faces? Like, walking down the street and knowing exactly who everyone is? 🤣 Sounds like a dream come true! But seriously, having this skill could be super helpful in law enforcement and security. Just think of all the bad guys you could catch if you could remember every mug face from a wanted poster 😂. On a more serious note, it's cool that these tests exist to help us figure out who's a face master and who's not. Just don't try to use this skill for evil, like in that one movie where the villain had super memory 🎥!

🤔 gotta say, I've always been pretty good at recognizing people's faces lol, but now I'm wondering if it's actually a skill or just something you're born with? 🤷‍♂️ I mean, can anyone become a super recogniser through practice and training like the researchers say? 🤓 that'd be so cool! 💡 I guess what concerns me is how this ability could be misused, like in law enforcement or surveillance. we gotta make sure it's used for good not evil 😬

I think its pretty cool how scientists found these tests to help figure out if you've got that special talent for remembering faces 🤔. But what really caught my eye is that it's not just about having the ability, but also knowing when to use it wisely. Like, imagine being in a situation where you're trying to stay calm and focused, and all of a sudden your brain starts racing with who that person is... 😬 it can be overwhelming.

I think its great that researchers are working on making this skill more accessible, like through practice and training. That way, people can develop their facial recognition abilities without feeling like they're born with it. And yeah, supporting law enforcement and security efforts can be super helpful, but we also gotta make sure we're not using our skills for malicious purposes 🚫.

🤔 I'm all for people having a leg up on their face recognition skills, especially in fields like law enforcement where it could be a game changer 🚔💼 but at the same time I think we need to be cautious about how this power is used. Like if someone can just remember faces and identify suspects without any context or training, that's a whole different story 😕. It's not just about being able to recall names and faces, it's about understanding the implications of that ability. Can you imagine having to identify someone in a crowded room or in a surveillance video? That's some heavy responsibility 🤯. I'm all for people developing their face recognition skills through practice and training, but let's make sure we're not creating a culture where people feel like they have to be super recognisers just to keep up 🙅‍♂️.

I'm so excited about these new tests!! 😍 Like, imagine being able to pick out a friend from a crowd or spot a familiar face in a sea of strangers - it's like having a superpower! 🤯 I've always been curious about how well I can do this, and now I can try one of the tests to find out. It's crazy that with practice and training, anyone can develop this skill... it just makes sense. But at the same time, you're right - with great power comes great responsibility! 🙏 We have to be careful not to use this ability for anything shady or malicious. Can't wait to see what results I get from the test!! 💪

I'm like 70% sure I've got super recogniser skills 😊. I mean, have you seen my family reunions? I always manage to spot every single cousin and auntie from a mile away! 🤣 But seriously, it's crazy how much practice goes into developing this skill. Like, did you know that researchers say that people can develop their facial recognition abilities up to 50% through training? That's like, totally doable with some online tests and practice sessions! 💡 The thing is, though, I don't think having super recogniser skills is just about being good at identifying faces... it's also about knowing when to use that power. Like, using it for malicious purposes can have serious consequences 🚫. So yeah, I'm all for taking a test and seeing where I stand! 😊
