New Hulu special fuses fashion and science to commemorate World AIDS Day

Fashion Takes Center Stage in New HIV Awareness Initiative

A unique collaboration between fashion designers and HIV scientists is set to premiere on Hulu, titled "HIV Unwrapped". This special event aims to change the narrative surrounding HIV stigma by merging two seemingly disparate worlds: science and fashion.

Design students from Parsons School of Design partnered with leading HIV experts to create garments that tell a story about hope, resilience, and humanity. The project showcases how complex scientific concepts can be conveyed through the art of fashion.

According to Karl Schmid, executive producer of "HIV Unwrapped", the special highlights the power of collaboration between individuals from different backgrounds. "We're taking science, really complex science, and fashion, two worlds that you don't normally think come together, and weirdly, they do," he said.

The initiative also emphasizes the importance of sharing personal stories of those living with HIV. Bianca Ordoรฑez, who participated in the event, shared her experience, stating, "I want to show the world that regardless of what happens to you, we are more than the worst thing that has happened to us and that we can do incredible and be beautiful regardless of our HIV status."

The special will offer a behind-the-scenes look at the design process, highlighting how science experts contribute to the creation of garments. By merging fashion and science, "HIV Unwrapped" aims to promote awareness about HIV stigma and inspire conversations around hope, resilience, and humanity.

"HIV Unwrapped" streams on November 30th on Hulu, serving as a poignant reminder that even in the face of adversity, beauty and creativity can thrive.

It's also super inspiring to hear Bianca's story. She's right, we're more than our struggles, and fashion can be a powerful tool for self-expression and empowerment. I'm low-key obsessed with this new initiative ๐Ÿคฉ, it's like they're literally turning stigma into a runway show ๐Ÿ’ƒ! But seriously, it's about time we saw more designers and scientists coming together to break down those awkward barriers between art and science. It's amazing how something as simple as clothes can be used to tell such powerful stories of resilience and humanity โค๏ธ. I mean, who knew HIV could be so beautiful? The fact that they're sharing personal stories of people living with HIV is a huge deal too - it's all about humanizing the conversation around HIV rather than making it some awkward medical lecture ๐Ÿ’ฌ. Can't wait to dive into "HIV Unwrapped" on Hulu and see what kind of magic happens when fashion meets science ๐Ÿ”ฎ!

man i'm so hyped for this new initiative on hulu ๐Ÿคฉ they're literally merging science and fashion to spread awareness about hiv stigma and it's like whoa what a concept! the fact that designers and scientists are collabing to create garments that tell stories about hope and resilience is already giving me life ๐Ÿ’– i'm also low-key excited for this because we need more ppl talking about hiv and how to reduce stigma around it ๐Ÿค and using fashion as a way to share personal stories of those living with hiv is genius ๐Ÿ”ฅ can't wait to see the special on november 30th!

๐ŸŒŸ I think this collab between fashion designers & HIV scientists is like, super cool! It's crazy how they're merging these two worlds to spread awareness about HIV stigma. I mean, who says science has to be boring? Fashion is all about expressing yourself, and now it's being used to tell powerful stories of hope & resilience ๐ŸŒˆ. I'm excited to check out this special on Hulu! ๐Ÿ“บ

I mean, I love the idea behind "HIV Unwrapped", but is it really necessary to make it into a TV special? Can't we just get straight to the point with some powerful storytelling on social media instead? ๐Ÿค” And what's up with the whole "art of fashion" thing? Can't they just create some plain old awareness campaigns like everyone else? ๐Ÿ’โ€โ™€๏ธ

And don't even get me started on the design process. I mean, I know it's cool to see behind-the-scenes, but can we skip the extra fluff and just show us what the final products are gonna look like? ๐Ÿคฆโ€โ™€๏ธ Also, is Bianca Ordoรฑez's story really that unique? Like, I get that sharing personal experiences is important, but some people might think it's a bit too much or even exploitative. ๐Ÿ‘€

I think it's great how this initiative is using fashion as a platform to raise awareness about HIV stigma. The collaboration between design students and scientists is a fantastic way to break down barriers between two often-separate worlds. I'm also loving the idea of personal stories being shared, it adds an emotional depth to the project that's essential in sparking conversations around hope, resilience, and humanity ๐Ÿ’–

The fact that they're highlighting the science behind fashion is also super interesting, it shows how complex scientific concepts can be made accessible through art. I'm excited to see how this special event will promote awareness about HIV stigma and inspire people to think differently about the condition ๐ŸŽจ

OMG I'm so down for this ๐Ÿ™Œ๐Ÿ’–! It's amazing to see fashion and science coming together like that. I mean, who says HIV awareness has to be boring? ๐Ÿคฃ It's all about spreading a positive message and celebrating resilience. Those designers are geniuses ๐Ÿ’ก and Bianca's story is literally inspiring me right now ๐Ÿ˜. I love how it's not just about the science, but also about sharing personal stories and showing that we're more than our HIV status. Can't wait to watch this on Hulu! ๐Ÿ“บ๐Ÿ‘—
