NFL: How Harry Kane's dream of becoming a kicker could become a reality

Former England captain Harry Kane has long been an admirer of the NFL, and his fascination with American football only deepened after he became a Bayern Munich player. The 32-year-old striker revealed last month that trying to become an NFL kicker is something that's "always been in the back of my mind." He acknowledges that it will be hard work but expresses enthusiasm for giving it a go when he retires from football.

To help Kane achieve his dream, Tom Brady, a Super Bowl-winning quarterback and close friend of Kane's, has offered to train him. Brady has himself made a successful transition from football to rugby league, highlighting the possibility that Kane could find success in the NFL as well.

Former Austin Staders punter Dustin Colquitt is another key figure backing Kane's bid to become an NFL kicker. In 2020, Colquitt won Super Bowl LV with the Kansas City Chiefs after playing for 15 seasons. Before his football career ended, he played high school football, earned college scholarship offers, and remains a big fan of the sport.

Colquitt told BBC Sport that Kane would be fantastic as an NFL kicker if he focused on it. "He's got some great finishing skills," Colquitt said. The experienced punter also believes Kane has an advantage in terms of mental approach. Unlike many punters who focus solely on the kick, kickers must also handle pressure while kicking stationary balls between posts for a field goal or extra point.

Several footballers have successfully made the switch to become NFL kickers, including Toni Fritsch and Neil O'Donoghue. The fact that current NFL kickers like Brandon Aubrey and Harrison Butker began their careers in other sports suggests Kane has a good chance of succeeding as well.

The former Tottenham striker's Bayern contract runs until 2027, just before his 34th birthday, giving him ample time to explore this new opportunity.

omg can u believe harry kane wants to be an nfl kicker lol 🀣 he's already a great footballer so maybe kicking the ball is like shooting in football 🎯 anyway i think it's cool that tom brady is gonna train him, Brady himself played rugby league in the past, who knows maybe Kane can do same πŸ€” colquitt says Kane has got skills and mental game so i guess its possible he could make nfl kicker

I gotta say, I'm both stoked and skeptical about Harry Kane trying out for the NFL πŸ€―πŸ’¨. On one hand, can you imagine Kane in a football jersey with a helmet? πŸ˜‚ It's already a mental image that has me grinning from ear to ear! Tom Brady's willingness to train him is awesome, though - he's definitely got the know-how. And Dustin Colquitt's endorsement gives me faith that Kane's got what it takes.

On the flip side, I'm not convinced this is gonna be easy peasy for Kane πŸ€”. NFL kickers have gotta deal with insane pressure while kicking stationary balls, and I don't think anyone can replicate that in football 🏈. And let's be real, Kane's still got a football career to wrap up before he even thinks about hanging up his cleats πŸ•°οΈ.

Still, it's awesome to see someone chasing their dreams, no matter how crazy they seem 😊. Maybe we'll get a footballer-turned-kicker in the NFL? Stranger things have happened, right? πŸ˜‰

🏈πŸ’ͺ This is crazy! I think it's awesome that Harry Kane wants to try out for the NFL kicker position and has people like Tom Brady and Dustin Colquitt believing in him 🀩. It's not going to be easy, but if he puts in the work, he could really make a name for himself πŸ‘Š. The fact that other footballers have made the switch successfully shows that it's definitely possible πŸ†. I'm curious to see how his Bayern contract situation plays out and if this is something he can realistically pursue on top of his football career πŸ’

man I'm loving the idea of Harry Kane trying out for the NFL 🀩 he's already got a huge advantage on the field with his striking skills and mental toughness πŸ™Œ it's awesome that Tom Brady is willing to train him and Dustin Colquitt believes he'd be a great fit too πŸ™Œ the fact that there are other footballers who have made successful transitions to becoming NFL kickers shows that Kane has a good chance of succeeding 🀞 I'm curious to see how he'll do, maybe we'll get to see a footballer in the NFL soon?! πŸ˜‚

πŸ€” So Harry Kane is thinking of becoming an NFL kicker and Tom Brady wants to help him out? That's interesting... I mean, it's not every day you see a footballer wanting to switch sports mid-career πŸˆπŸ˜‚. But seriously, if he can actually make the transition, I think he'd be decent πŸ€·β€β™‚οΈ. The fact that Tom Brady is mentoring him and someone like Dustin Colquitt thinks he'd be great at it is pretty cool πŸ’ͺ.

I guess it's all about focus and mental toughness πŸ™. If Kane is willing to put in the work, I wouldn't count him out 😊. But let's not get ahead of ourselves here... it's gonna be tough for a footballer to adjust to American football ⚽️. We'll just have to wait and see how this whole thing plays out 🎬.

I'm loving this 🀩! So Harry Kane wants to be an NFL kicker? That's like me saying I wanna be a pro gamer when I retire from this chat πŸ˜‚. It's all about the hustle and having a dream, right? But seriously, if Tom Brady thinks he can train Kane, that's huge πŸ’ͺ. And Dustin Colquitt's support means a lot too - it's not just about the physical skill, but also mental toughness.

But here's the thing: what does this say about the NFL's diversity and inclusion policies? Can they really just welcome someone from another sport like Kane into their fold without any questions or hiccups? We need to see more of these types of cross-sport collaborations in the future 🀝. And let's be real, if Kane can make it in the NFL, maybe it'll open up more opportunities for other athletes who want to try something new and challenge themselves. The world is your oyster, right? 🌊

I'm not sure if Harry Kane is cut out for the NFL, he's been playing football since he was a kid and it's a big change, but at the same time I think it'd be cool to see him give it a shot πŸ€”. He does seem like the type of person who would put in the work though, and having Tom Brady training him is a great starting point πŸ™Œ. But what I'm really curious about is how his Bayern contract will play into all this... can he afford to take time off from football to focus on the NFL? πŸ€·β€β™‚οΈ

I gotta say, it's pretty cool to see a footballer like Harry Kane wanting to try out for the NFL 🀯! I mean, he's already got the physicality and endurance from playing in the Bundesliga, so it's not like he's starting from scratch or anything. And Tom Brady stepping in to train him? That's just incredible, man 😲. The fact that a former footballer like Dustin Colquitt is giving Kane the thumbs up too shows that there's definitely potential here. And let's be real, if someone like Brandon Aubrey can make it from rugby league to the NFL, why not Harry Kane? πŸ€”

I think it's so cool that Harry Kane wants to try out for the NFL 🀯πŸ’ͺ, and having Tom Brady as a trainer is insane! 😲 Brady has been in their shoes before, I mean he played rugby league too! πŸ’₯ It's not like anyone else can say they've tried two different sports at the highest level... that's gotta count for something πŸ€”. And if Dustin Colquitt thinks Kane would be awesome as a kicker then I'm all for it 😊, Kane has some sick finishing skills already and he's got the mental game to boot πŸ’―.

🏈πŸ”₯ I'm lowkey excited about Harry Kane trying out for the NFL 🀣 he's got skills on the pitch and now he wants to kick some field goals 🎯? Tom Brady is coming through with training sessions πŸ§˜β€β™‚οΈ and Dustin Colquitt thinks he's got what it takes 😎. It's not like it's impossible, tons of footballers have made the switch already 🀝... Toni Fritsch and Neil O'Donoghue are living proof πŸ’―. Only thing is, when does Kane wanna retire from footy before he tries out for the gridiron πŸ€”?

idk if its gonna happen tho πŸ€” but if harry kane can make the transition i think it could be a big deal for british players in the nfl. america has always been about competition and pushing boundaries so maybe having a british face like kane would attract more fans. plus tom brady is actually pretty serious about his training methods so idk how bad it can go wrong πŸ€·β€β™‚οΈ. also, if people like toni fritsch & neil o'donoghue have done it before why not him? its all about finding the right opportunity and time to pursue your dreams, i guess πŸ’ͺ.

I cant even believe Harry Kane is actually gonna try out for the NFL 🀯, I mean, he's already an elite footballer, but becoming a kicker? That's insane! Tom Brady training him? Mate, that's like having a coach who's basically won it all himself πŸ˜‚. I'm curious to see how he'll do, especially with his finishing skills being praised by Dustin Colquitt. It's not like Kane has been kicking footballs for years, so it'll be an interesting transition. Fingers crossed for him! πŸ‘

OMG, I'm low-key hyped for Harry Kane to try out being an NFL kicker 🀯πŸ’ͺ🏽! He already has the skills and mental game from playing football, which is a big advantage. Tom Brady's been training him and all? That's so cool πŸ’‘! Kane's got that passion and drive, I'm sure he can make it happen 🎯...can you imagine watching him kick field goals in the NFL though πŸ˜‚πŸˆ?!

I think it's dope that Harry Kane wants to try out for the NFL πŸ€”, I mean who wouldn't wanna be a pro kicker, right? The fact that Tom Brady is training him and has made the transition from football to rugby league himself, makes me think Kane's got a shot 😊. Colquitt's words of encouragement are pretty cool too... Kane's got some sick finishing skills, and mentally he seems like someone who can handle the pressure 🀯. Plus, if it helps his football career take off, I'm all for it πŸ€‘. 2027 is still a ways away so we'll just have to see how this whole thing plays out πŸŽ‰.

OMG 🀩 this is so cool! Harry Kane trying out for the NFL as an kicker is like, a total dream come true! 😍 he's got the skills and the passion, what more could they ask for? Tom Brady offering to train him is pure genius πŸ’‘ I mean who better than TB12 to help him master the art of kicking goals in the NFL? πŸ€“ and Dustin Colquitt's words are so inspiring, Kane has the finishing skills and mental approach that would make any kicker jealous 😎 it's not like he's just some random footballer trying out for a different sport, this is Harry Kane we're talking about! πŸ˜‰ his Bayern contract is still young, there's plenty of time for him to try out for an NFL team and who knows maybe even become the next big thing in American football 🀞

I'm loving the idea of Harry Kane becoming an NFL kicker 🀩🏈! He's got the skills and mental toughness to make it happen. I mean, have you seen his finishing skills in football? πŸ”₯ It's only a matter of time before he joins Tom Brady as an NFL kicker 🌟. The fact that there are already successful football-to-NFL kickers like Toni Fritsch and Neil O'Donoghue makes me think Kane's got a solid chance πŸ‘. Let's see him nail those field goals in the States 😎

πŸ€” I'm loving Harry Kane's enthusiasm for trying out for the NFL! He's got the skills and charisma, but I gotta wonder if he's really thinking about the grind that comes with it 🏈πŸ’ͺ. I mean, we all know Tom Brady's had his fair share of success in both footballs, but it's one thing to be a pro athlete on one field, and another to adapt to an entirely different sport... especially when you're 32 😬. Still, if anyone can make it happen, it's Harry! Maybe with the right training and mindset, he'll prove everyone wrong πŸŽ―πŸ‘. Can you imagine seeing Kane kicking goals in the NFL? 🀩 Would be epic! πŸ’₯

I'm literally so down for Harry Kane trying out for the NFL 🀩 but at the same time, I don't know...like he'd be really good or something πŸ€”. He's got skills on the pitch that might not translate to kicking a ball 40 yards down the field 🏈. Tom Brady training him is cool and all, but what if it doesn't pay off? 😬

On the other hand, Kane has always been super passionate about American football, so maybe he'd be able to make it work πŸ’ͺ. And hey, Dustin Colquitt's a punt coach who won a Super Bowl, so that's like, totally legit expertise πŸˆπŸ‘.

But then again, Toni Fritsch and Neil O'Donoghue did make the switch from football to rugby league and that worked out pretty well for them 😐. So, what are the chances of Kane being just as successful? πŸ€·β€β™‚οΈ

I mean, I guess it's worth a shot, right? πŸ”₯ But at the same time, he's got a good thing going with Bayern Munich... maybe he should just stick to scoring goals on the pitch instead πŸ’”. Ugh, my mind is literally all over the place 🀯!

I'm lovin' this news 🀩! Can you imagine Harry Kane in an NFL uniform? πŸ˜‚ It's crazy how his fascination with the sport has grown since becoming a pro footballer. And to think Tom Brady is gonna help train him? That's some serious mentorship πŸ’ͺ! I remember when I was a kid, watching the Super Bowl on TV with my mates and cheering for our favorite teams πŸ“Ί. Now it's not just about the football, but also trying out new sports and taking risks. It's all about chasing your dreams, right? 😎 The fact that Kane has some great skills already, like finishing... who knows, maybe we'll see him scoring touchdowns in no time! 🏈πŸ”₯
