NFL: Shedeur Sanders had 'rough' debut but how much are Cleveland Browns to blame?

Shedeur Sanders, the highly touted rookie quarterback from Cleveland Browns, made his long-awaited NFL debut in week 12 of the season. Despite being considered one of the biggest draft prospects in recent history, his performance was underwhelming.

Sanders, the son of former NFL player Deion Sanders, had been expected to make a significant impact on the field. However, he struggled with accuracy and decision-making during the game. He completed just four passes out of 16 attempts for 47 yards, and was sacked twice. His quarterback rating of 13.5 was also one of the worst in his debut.

Critics have labeled Sanders' performance as "rough," but some are questioning how much blame can be placed on him. After all, he had only been given limited practice time with the first team during training camp and did not take any snaps with them after becoming the back-up quarterback.

The Browns' decision to use Gabriel before making Sanders their fourth-quarter quarterback is also under scrutiny. With Gabriel already taking all of the first-team reps, it's unclear how much opportunity Sanders was supposed to receive.

"It wasn't the debut that he or his fans had hoped for," said ESPN Cleveland Browns reporter Daniel Oyefusi. "But you have to contextualise it. He's playing a really good Ravens defence, and the Browns' offensive line has struggled all year."

Sanders will likely get another chance to prove himself this week against the Raiders, who are also struggling on offense. While his debut was not what he or his fans had hoped for, there is still reason to be optimistic about his future in the NFL.

The question remains whether the Browns have handled Sanders properly, given that they gave him limited practice time with the first team and did not give him any snaps with them after becoming the back-up. It's clear that more work needs to be done to help Sanders develop as a quarterback, but it's also possible that he will benefit from being thrust into difficult situations like this.

Ultimately, the answer to whether Sanders had a "rough" debut or not is subjective, and depends on how one weighs his performance against expectations. While he did struggle in some key areas, he also showed glimpses of potential and promise. As the season progresses, it will be interesting to see how Sanders continues to develop as a quarterback and whether the Browns' decision-making has contributed to his struggles.

So I'm watching this rookie QB Shedeur Sanders make his debut for the Browns and I gotta say, I was expecting way more from him πŸ€”. He's got the talent, but it looked like he was still learning the ropes out there on the field. Four completions in 16 attempts? That's rough, no question 😬. But at the same time, you gotta feel for the kid - he was thrown into the fire way too soon and didn't get much practice time with the first team.

And what's up with the Browns' decision to go with Gabriel over him before making the switch? It's like they were trying to make it harder for Sanders to prove himself πŸ€·β€β™‚οΈ. But hey, at least he got another shot against the Raiders this week, and I'm sure he'll learn from his mistakes.

I think the Browns need to work on developing Sanders' skills more - limited practice time isn't gonna cut it in the NFL πŸ’ͺ. And maybe they should have given him some snaps with the first team sooner? But you can tell Shedeur's got heart and potential, so I'm still rooting for him 🌟.

omg i'm so worried about shedeur!! 😩 he's been hyped for like forever & i was expecting him to crush it in his debut 🀯 but honestly, 13.5 qb rating is NO JOKE lol the browns did give him limited practice time tho πŸ€” maybe that's part of the issue? i think gabriel got all the first team reps so shedeur didn't really have a chance to shine πŸ˜’ but omg he's still got this! πŸ’ͺ another week against the raiders & hopefully he'll get more snaps 🀞

I think Sanders had an amazing debut 🀩! Like, I'm totally disappointed with him... 😐 no wait, that's not right... I was expecting more from him, but still kinda impressed by his guts for playing a tough Ravens defence in his first game πŸ™Œ. And yeah, the Browns' decision to make Gabriel their QB before Sanders is pretty shady... πŸ‘€ maybe they shoulda given him more practice time? But on the other hand, it's not like Sanders had that much experience with the 1st team anyway... πŸ€” so maybe he just needs some more time to develop his skills? Yeah, I'm still unsure about this whole thing πŸ˜•.

I think people are being too harsh on Shedeur 😊. I mean, he's got some big shoes to fill coming from Deion Sanders, but we can't expect him to be perfect right off the bat 🀯. He only had limited practice time with the first team and was suddenly thrust into a starting role, it's not fair to blame him for that πŸ’ͺ. And have you seen the Browns' O-line this season? They're struggling big time 😩. I think Gabriel got some good reps before being benched, so maybe Shedeur just wasn't ready yet πŸ€”. But hey, he's still young and has a lot of room to grow. Let's not count him out just yet 🎯!

im not surprised by sheds saunders poor debut tbh 😐 he did seem kinda nervous on the field and had to think way too much 🀯 but u gotta remember hes still a rookie and all those yrs of practice dont always translate 2 the field πŸˆπŸ‘€ i mean gabriel was prob a good choice in that situation tho πŸ‘ maybe saunders just needed some time 2 get used 2 the first team reps πŸ’ͺ but yeah, browns fans r prob feelin pretty meh rn πŸ˜” still gotta give him a chance tho, he seems like a cool kid and all πŸ€—

😐 I gotta feel for this kid, Shedeur Sanders is puttin in pressure right from the get go. Like, he's got a lot of hype on him but I think it's kinda unfair to just write him off after one game πŸ€·β€β™‚οΈ. He was facin' that tough Ravens defence and had a pretty rough offensive line too 🚫. And let's not forget, the Browns didn't give him much practice time with the first team πŸ˜•. I think he needs some more reps to get comfortable, but at the same time, it's good they're throwin him into tough situations to test his mettle πŸ’ͺ. We'll just have to wait and see how he develops over the next few weeks ⏰.

I'm a bit disappointed with the way Shedeur Sanders performed in his NFL debut πŸ€”πŸˆ. He was expected to make a huge impact but ended up having one of the worst debuts ever ⚠️. I think it's unfair to blame him completely though - he only got limited practice time with the first team and didn't get many snaps with them after becoming backup QB πŸ“Š. The way Gabriel was handled before being benched is also suspicious πŸ‘€.

I'm still optimistic about Sanders' future in the NFL, but I think the Browns need to do more to help him develop as a QB πŸ’ͺ. He showed some potential in flashes but needs more reps and coaching πŸ€“. It's going to be interesting to see how he bounces back against the Raiders this week πŸ”₯.
