I think it's super cool that Ny.ICE is taking steps to distance themselves from ICE - those aggressive deportation tactics can be really scary for students and their families. It's awesome that parents and teachers are coming together to create these red cards and encrypted chats to support each other. The city education department seems like they're on the right track too, with Mayor Adams and Chancellor Aviles-Ramos speaking out about immigrant students' rights.
I'm a bit surprised that some people think the new name is clunky though - I guess it's a small price to pay for avoiding any association with ICE. Overall, I think this rebranding is a big step towards creating a safer and more inclusive community at Ny.ICE
