Paris court finds 10 people guilty of cyberbullying Brigitte Macron

A French court has delivered a verdict that highlights the darker corners of social media discourse, finding 10 individuals guilty of cyberbullying Brigitte Macron, wife of President Emmanuel Macron. The defendants had made false claims about her gender and sexuality, as well as malicious remarks about the significant age gap between them.

While one defendant received a six-month prison sentence, eight others were handed suspended sentences ranging from four to eight months. A tenth person was given a fine and ordered to complete sensitivity training. Even more concerning are the social media restrictions imposed on three of those found guilty, who will have their accounts disabled for six months.

At the heart of this controversy lies a fringe conspiracy theory that has been circulating online: the claim that Brigitte Macron is actually Jean-Michel Trogneux, her older brother. Proponents of this baseless notion believe she was born male and transitioned to living as a woman at some point in her life. This type of "transvestigation" often spreads hateful rhetoric about transgender people while bullying cisgender individuals.

The age difference between Brigitte Macron โ€“ 72 years old when they married in 2007 โ€“ has also been a contentious issue throughout Emmanuel Macron's political career. The court's decision serves as a warning to those who would seek to exploit this narrative for malicious purposes.

It's worth noting that President Macron has taken steps to combat such baseless claims, including filing a defamation lawsuit against right-wing podcaster Candace Owens in the US. Owens has repeatedly spread false information about Brigitte Macron's gender and has even staked her "entire professional reputation" on being correct. The court's verdict serves as a reminder that such actions have consequences.

omg this is so crazy ๐Ÿคฏ like what even is a transvestigation lol no idea how that term even exists, sounds super sketchy anyway cyberbullying is never okay and it's wild how some people would spread hateful rhetoric about trans ppl just because of baseless claims about Brigitte Macron ugh i feel bad for her and her husband too ๐Ÿค like the age gap thing was already a big deal for them but now they have to deal with this too? ๐Ÿ˜ฉ can't wait to see how President Macron's defamation lawsuit against Candace Owens plays out ๐Ÿ“ฐ it's cool that he's taking steps to combat misinformation tho ๐Ÿ‘

๐Ÿคฆโ€โ™€๏ธ this is so messed up ๐Ÿ™…โ€โ™‚๏ธ someone spreading lies like that about Brigitte Macron's identity online and the fact that she can get 10 people in trouble for it ๐Ÿ˜ฉ the conspiracy theory thingy is just wild ๐ŸŒช๏ธ and not only does it harm her but also cisgender ppl who already face so much crap ๐Ÿค•

man, can you believe some ppl still think brigitte macron is actually jean-michel trognieux lol ๐Ÿคฃ๐Ÿ˜‚๏ธ... like, what even is wrong with these conspiracy theorists? it's just ridiculous. and the age gap thing, i get that people didn't know about it back in 2007, but now that emmanuel's president, ppl should be able to get over it, you know? ๐Ÿ˜’ anyway, glad the court took a stand against these cyberbullies... and brigitte macron finally gets some respect ๐Ÿ‘. this kind of stuff should've been addressed sooner, like, what happened with candace owens back in the states? ๐Ÿคทโ€โ™€๏ธ

I'm so sad to hear this ๐Ÿค•. Social media can be a dark place, but it's amazing how quickly hate can spread ๐Ÿ”ฅ. I mean, who spreads rumors about someone's gender and sexuality? ๐Ÿคข That's just not cool ๐Ÿ˜’. And the fact that some people think Brigitte Macron isn't even her real name is just crazy ๐Ÿ˜ฒ. A conspiracy theory like that is just a huge red flag ๐Ÿšจ.

It's great to see the court taking action against those who spread hate and misinformation ๐Ÿ’ช. Suspended sentences are still too lenient imo โฐ. And yeah, social media restrictions can be really tough for people online ๐Ÿ‘€. But I guess it's better than having them spread even more hate ๐Ÿคฌ.

It's also cool to see President Macron taking steps to fight back against misinformation ๐Ÿ˜Š. Filing a defamation lawsuit is a great way to show that spreading false info has consequences ๐Ÿ’ผ. And Candace Owens needs to be held accountable for her actions ๐Ÿ™„. It's time for people like her to think twice before spreading hate and lies ๐Ÿ”ฅ!

OMG, I'M SO GLAD TO SEE THE FRENCH COURT TAKING ACTION AGAINST CYBERBULLYING!!! IT'S LIKE, SO UNACCEPTABLE THAT PEOPLE WOULD SPREAD HATEFUL Rhetoric ABOUT BRIGITTE MACRON LIKE THAT! ๐Ÿ™…โ€โ™€๏ธ AND CAN YOU BELIEVE THIS FRINGE CONSPIRACY THEORY IS CIRCULATING ONLINE? IT'S JUST SO DISGUSTING! IF YOU'RE GONNA MAKE SOMEONE A TARGET, AT LEAST HAVE THE COURAGE TO BE DIRECT ABOUT IT INSTEAD OF SPREADING BASELESS RUMORS!!! AND YEAH, I FEEL SORRY FOR BRIGITTE MACRON HAVING TO DEAL WITH ALL THIS ONLINE HARASSMENT... SHE DESERVES SO MUCH BETTER! ๐Ÿ™Œ

Ugh, this is just great ๐Ÿคฆโ€โ™‚๏ธ... like, who even comes up with this stuff? A 10-year-old conspiracy theory about Brigitte Macron supposedly being Jean-Michel Trogneux and changing her sex at some point in life... it's just so ridiculous! ๐Ÿ™„ And the fact that people actually believe it is wild ๐Ÿ˜ฑ. The court finally taking action against these cyberbullies is a good start, but I'm sure there are many more out there still spreading hate speech online ๐Ÿ’”. It's also kinda shady that Candace Owens was able to get away with spreading false info for so long before getting sued ๐Ÿค‘... I mean, what's next? Are we gonna start believing in vampires or something? ๐Ÿ˜‚

omg ๐Ÿคฏ did u know that brigitte macron is actually 74 not 72 anymore ๐Ÿ˜…? anywayz, i think its crazy how these cyberbullies can get away with it for so long ๐Ÿค– and then get caught red-handed ๐Ÿ’” especially w/ the conspiracy theory abt her bro jean-michel trogneux ๐Ÿคฏ it's like, hello baseless claims ๐Ÿšซ. btw, did u know that in 2020 alone there were over 15 million reports of online harassment in france ๐Ÿ“Š? and that's just the tip of the iceberg ๐ŸŒช๏ธ the age gap btw brigitte & emmanuel macron is def a contentious issue ๐Ÿ‘€ but lets not forget about the real victims here - the trans ppl who get bullied & stigmatized ๐Ÿค•

omg what a sickening conspiracy theory ๐Ÿคฏ๐Ÿ‘Ž, like wth is wrong with these ppl? cant they just leave Brigitte alone?! ๐Ÿ˜ก anyway, gotta say, the fact that Candace Owens has been spreading false info about Brigitte and staking her rep on it is straight up toxic ๐Ÿšซ๐Ÿ’” president macron taking action against her is a good start tho ๐Ÿ‘ and now this court verdict its like, finally some accountability for these cyberbullies ๐Ÿคทโ€โ™€๏ธ cant we all just live in peace online? ๐Ÿ˜Œ

Ugh, this just shows how ridiculous some people can get online ๐Ÿ˜‚. I mean, come on, a conspiracy theory about Brigitte Macron being born male? Give me a break ๐Ÿ™„. It's just a bunch of hate speech and misinformation being spread left and right. And what's with the defamation lawsuit against Candace Owens? Shouldn't she just fact-check her info before spouting it off like that? ๐Ÿ’โ€โ™€๏ธ Anyway, I do think it's good to see the French court taking action against cyberbullying and spreading hate speech online ๐Ÿ‘. But can we please take responsibility for our own actions on these platforms instead of relying on the law to kick us offline? ๐Ÿค”

omg u gotta feel so bad 4 Brigitte Macron ๐Ÿค• she went thru this awful cyberbullying & now the court is finally taking action against these ppl who spread hate speech online... the fact that they thought they could just make up crazy theories about her life & get away with it is wild ๐Ÿ’โ€โ™€๏ธ like, what's next? are we gonna start doubting ppl's identities left & right? ๐Ÿคฏ anyway, i'm glad to see President Macron taking a stand against these conspiracy theorists & Candace Owens in particular... she's been spreading hate speech 4 ages now ๐Ÿ˜’

OMG, this is just wild ๐Ÿคฏ! Like, I always knew social media was dodgy, but this takes the cake ๐Ÿฐ. Those guys who thought Brigitte Macron was actually her bro? What even is that? ๐Ÿ˜‚ And those online trolls spreading hateful rhetoric about trans people while targeting cisgender folks? Sickos ๐Ÿ’”.

But for real though, it's a good thing President Macron is taking action against these baseless claims. I mean, Candace Owens is just spreading false info like it's going out of style ๐Ÿคฆโ€โ™€๏ธ. And the fact that some of those found guilty are getting suspended sentences? That's not enough, in my opinion. They should be banned from the internet for good ๐Ÿ”’.

And can we talk about the hypocrisy of some people who are against trans rights but still have no issue with spreading conspiracy theories about someone's identity? Just...no ๐Ÿ™…โ€โ™‚๏ธ. This whole thing is just a reminder that there's always more to the story than what we see on the surface. Keep digging, folks ๐Ÿ”!

Ugh, this cyberbullying thing is really getting out of hand ๐Ÿคฏ! I mean, making false claims about someone's gender and sexuality just because you can't stand them? That's not okay. And the fact that there was even a conspiracy theory going around that Brigitte Macron is actually her brother... wow, what kind of sick mind thinks like that ๐Ÿ˜ท? The social media restrictions on those found guilty are definitely a good start, but I wish they'd take it a step further and hold these people accountable for their actions ๐Ÿ’ฏ. It's not just about the individuals being bullied, it's also about the harm that comes from spreading hate speech online. I'm glad President Macron is taking steps to combat this, including filing a defamation lawsuit against Candace Owens ๐Ÿ‘ฎโ€โ™‚๏ธ. We need more people like him who will stand up for what's right and call out false information ๐Ÿ™Œ.

๐Ÿ˜ฌ this whole thing is wild... i mean, who makes up some crazy conspiracy theory about someone's identity? ๐Ÿคฏ it's not okay to spread hate and misinformation online. the fact that it got to the point where someone was even sued for defamation is just crazy ๐Ÿ’ธ. i'm glad the court took a stand against these people and handed out some consequences... six months without internet access seems like a decent punishment to me ๐Ÿ˜‚. but at the same time, i think we need to be more proactive about stopping this kind of bullying before it gets that far ๐Ÿšซ. we should all be taking responsibility for what we say online ๐Ÿ’ฌ.

Ugh, this cyberbullying situation is just soooo concerning ๐Ÿ™…โ€โ™‚๏ธ! I mean, 10 people getting guilty of making false claims about Brigitte Macron's gender and sexuality? That's like, totally unacceptable ๐Ÿ˜ก. And the fact that some of them only got suspended sentences or fines... it's just not enough ๐Ÿ’”. I think President Macron is doing a great job in taking action against these baseless conspiracy theories, but we need to do more ๐Ÿคฆโ€โ™‚๏ธ. Social media companies need to step up their game and take responsibility for policing online discourse ๐Ÿ‘ฎโ€โ™‚๏ธ. And those social media restrictions on the guilty defendants? That's like, totally justified ๐Ÿ™Œ.

๐Ÿค” I'm kinda glad that justice was served for Brigitte Macron, but I feel bad for the people who made those false claims about her... like, what were they thinking? ๐Ÿ™„ And it's crazy how this whole thing can spread so fast online, right? Like, one minute you're saying something crazy and the next, there are thousands of others saying it too. It's wild to think that some people still believe that baseless conspiracy theory about Brigitte Macron... but hey, at least we can learn from this and try to be more careful with what we share online, yeah? ๐Ÿค—

๐Ÿค This whole thing is just so messed up... I mean, I get why people are upset about the age difference, but come on, let's not resort to baseless rumors and hate speech online. It's like, Brigitte Macron is a human being with her own agency and life, not some pawn in a conspiracy theory game ๐Ÿคฏ. And what's really sad is that this kind of toxic discourse can affect people of all ages and backgrounds. I'm glad the French court took action, but at the same time, let's all try to be more thoughtful and considerate online ๐Ÿ’ป. It's not just about Brigitte Macron or her husband, it's about creating a culture where we uplift and support each other, not tear each other down ๐ŸŒˆ.

I'm literally shook by this whole situation ๐Ÿ˜ฑ. I mean, who does that?! Making baseless claims about someone's identity just to get a rise out of people? It's so cowardly and pathetic ๐Ÿ™„. And now we're seeing the consequences of their actions - a court decision that sends a clear message: no more cyberbullying! ๐Ÿ‘

I'm also glad to see President Macron taking action against people like Candace Owens, who just spread hate and lies about Brigitte. It's time for people to take responsibility for what they say online ๐Ÿคฆโ€โ™‚๏ธ. And let's not forget the impact this has on the trans community - all that hate and transvestigation is already a lot to deal with ๐ŸŒˆ.

I'm all for free speech, but not when it comes at the expense of people's dignity and well-being ๐Ÿ’–. The fact that these guilty parties will have their accounts disabled just shows that social media companies can't be trusted to keep everyone safe on their platforms ๐Ÿ˜’. It's time for some real accountability ๐Ÿš”!

๐Ÿค” just wondering, why do people feel the need to spread hate & false info about someone online? like, brigitte macron is a human being too, deserves respect ๐Ÿ’• shouldn't we all be more mindful of our words & actions in public spaces? ๐Ÿคทโ€โ™€๏ธ

๐Ÿคฏ This verdict is super worrying for social media users! I mean, who knew cyberbullying could lead to someone getting suspended from their own account ๐Ÿšซ? It's wild how conspiracy theories can spread hate and misinformation about trans people ๐Ÿ™…โ€โ™‚๏ธ. And the fact that Candace Owens has been calling out Brigitte Macron as a "transvestite" is just...no ๐Ÿ˜’. The court's decision sends a clear message that such baseless claims won't fly, but it also raises questions about how we can hold people accountable online ๐Ÿค”.

I'm not surprised the French authorities took action, though. It's about time someone held these malicious individuals accountable for their words ๐Ÿ’ฏ. But let's be real, this isn't a new phenomenon - we've all seen our fair share of troll comments and fake news stories ๐Ÿ“ฐ. The only difference now is that the internet has a way of amplifying hate speech, so it's even more important to speak out against it ๐Ÿ’ช.

One thing that's really concerning is how easily false information can spread online. It's like, we've all heard of "fake news" before, but this takes it to a whole new level ๐Ÿค–. The French court's verdict might not be a silver bullet for solving this problem, but at least it shows that there are consequences for spreading hate speech ๐Ÿ’ฅ.
