Paul Doyle pleads guilty to 31 Liverpool parade charges

Paul Doyle, 54, pleaded guilty to all 31 charges related to the Liverpool parade crash that injured over 130 people. The father of three admitted to dangerous driving, affray, and various charges of attempted grievous bodily harm and wounding with intent.

The Crown Prosecution Service described the incident as "an act of calculated violence" when Doyle deliberately drove his car into crowds of innocent fans at a Liverpool FC victory parade on May 26. Dashcam footage showed that Doyle became increasingly agitated by the crowds and forced his way through them, forcing over 100 people to be trapped underneath their vehicles.

More than 130 people were injured in the incident, including children, with some suffering serious injuries. The police investigation suggested that Doyle had followed an ambulance on to Water Street after a road block was temporarily lifted for crews to attend to a person having a heart attack.

In court, Doyle appeared tearful and was supported by family members. The Recorder of Liverpool described it as "inevitable" that Doyle would face a custodial sentence due to the severity of his actions. A two-day sentencing hearing is scheduled for December 15 and 16.

The incident sparked an independent review into what happened, which will be published soon by Liverpool City Council.

🤔 I think it's kinda harsh how Doyle's pleaded guilty already tho 🤷‍♂️ he must've been really stressed or something, driving like that can't just happen to anyone, right? 🚗😬 And yeah, the dashcam footage is crazy, but I guess you gotta understand why he reacted like that... people were basically packed into these streets and he was stuck behind an ambulance, that's not exactly a good situation for someone who already feels anxious or overwhelmed 😅. He's still gonna get a big sentence tho, 2 days in December ain't no joke 🕰️. But, I don't know if it was really that bad... the city's got to learn from this too, maybe just give people more space on parade day or something? 🤔

😔 this feels like a total waste of energy on someone who's only gonna sit in a cell now 🤷‍♂️. I mean, we should all be worried about the families of those injured, but let's not forget that there are people out there doing good stuff for the community... 👥💖

Just can't believe what this guy did 🤯! 31 charges? That's insane! He thought he could just drive his car into a crowd of innocent people and get away with it? No way! The fact that he was driving recklessly, forcing people to be trapped under their vehicles... it's horrific 💔. And the worst part is, there were kids among those injured 🤕. I'm so glad he pleaded guilty and is facing a custodial sentence - justice has been served! But what about the review Liverpool City Council is doing? Hopefully, they'll make some changes to prevent something like this from happening again 💪. The fact that he followed an ambulance on to Water Street after a road block was lifted... just disgusting 🚫.
