Philadelphia Art Museum adds Pay What You Wish Friday nights for ‘Dreamworld’

The Philadelphia Art Museum is shaking things up with its 'Dreamworld' exhibition, and it's about to get a whole lot more accessible. As part of a unique offering, the museum will be adding 'Dreamworld: Surrealism at 100' to its Pay What You Wish program for three consecutive Friday nights.

Starting January 30th, visitors can enjoy the thought-provoking exhibit after 5 pm without worrying about admission fees. This innovative move not only attracts a wider audience but also creates an immersive atmosphere that combines art, music, and community interaction.

Each of these special evenings will feature live DJ sets by yōsukeDj, as well as light bites and surreal-themed cocktails to further enhance the surreal experience. With limited capacity and last entry at 8:15 pm, attendees are advised to arrive early to make the most of this unique night out.

The exhibit itself is a remarkable journey through more than a century of surrealist art, one that has garnered national attention and now makes its only U.S. stop in Philadelphia. To celebrate the final nights of 'Dreamworld', the museum will be hosting additional programming on February 6th, when the Philadelphia Ballet performs a short work exploring physical and emotional connection.

On February 13th, which coincides with the museum's Black History Month celebration, visitors can expect an evening filled with live music, pop-up art experiences, and community partners. With its unique blend of art, entertainment, and community engagement, this 'Pay What You Wish' series is set to become a new standard for cultural institutions in Philadelphia.

Details:

- Dates: January 30th, February 6th, and February 13th
- Time: After 5 pm
- Location: Philadelphia Art Museum (2600 Benjamin Franklin Pkwy)
- Admission: Pay What You Wish

🎨 I'm low-key hyped about this! Adding 'Dreamworld: Surrealism at 100' to the Pay What You Wish program is a genius move. It's gonna make art more accessible and fun for everyone, not just the usual art crowd 🤩. The addition of live DJ sets, light bites, and surreal-themed cocktails sounds like an amazing way to enhance the experience. Can't wait to see it come together on those Friday nights! 😎

🤔 this is some weird stuff. they're gonna let ppl pay what they wanna for a surrealist exhibit? sounds like some kinda trap to me, gettin all comfy and relaxed so you'll never leave... or maybe it's just a way to get people in the door for more 'surr-experiences' 🎨🕷️ i mean, who needs art when u can have dj sets & cocktails, rite? but at the same time, i guess it's cool that they're tryin to make art more accessible... like, for what reason tho? is this some kinda social experiment or somethin'? 🤓

omg i love this move by the philly art museum 🎨💥! making art more accessible is a no-brainer, and pay what you wish is such a cool way to do it. like, who doesn't want to enjoy amazing art without breaking the bank? 🤑 it's also genius to incorporate live music, food, and community vibes into these events – it'll create this electric atmosphere that'll make people wanna come back for more 💃🏽

and can we talk about how awesome it is that they're partnering with local businesses and organizations on these nights? 🤝 it's all about building connections and fostering a sense of community, which is exactly what art should be about. i'm low-key excited to see the philly ballet perform on february 6th – i've heard their shows are always so beautiful and thought-provoking 🌟

🐱 I'm kinda stoked about this "Dreamworld" exhibit 🤯. Who wouldn't wanna explore over a century of surrealist art without breaking the bank? 💸 The idea of adding DJ sets and surreal-themed cocktails to the mix sounds like an absolute blast 🎉! What's wild is that it'll be happening on three consecutive Fridays, which feels like a great way to kick off the new year 🎊.

I love how they're making art more accessible, though. I've seen some of my friends struggle with admission fees at museums, and this sounds like a game-changer for them 🤝. It's gonna be interesting to see how it affects the vibe of the museum on those nights, too - will it get super crowded or more chill? 🎉

I'm also down for the Philly Ballet performance on February 6th 🕺. That sounds like an amazing way to experience art in a different way. And the Black History Month celebration on Feb 13th is gonna be awesome 😊, too - live music, pop-up art experiences... it's gonna be lit 🔥!

OMG, I'm loving this new idea 🤩! I remember when museums used to be super expensive and only open during the day. This 'Pay What You Wish' program is genius - it's like they're saying "come one, come all!" and making art more accessible to everyone 🎨👥. The addition of live music, DJ sets, and surreal-themed cocktails sounds like an absolute blast 💃🕺! It's so cool that the museum is also collaborating with local artists and community partners - it just shows they care about the city and its people ❤️. I'm definitely checking this out on one of those Friday nights... who knows, maybe I'll even dance under the stars 🌃

ugh man, sounds like they're gonna have to raise the lights to be able to see anything with all those people there 😂. i mean, i'm glad its more accessible and all, but who thought 8pm was a good time for the last entry tho? 🤯 that's right in the middle of rush hour. and what's up with all these pop-up art experiences? sounds like they're just gonna be a bunch of overpriced stuff for people to take selfies with... 📸
