Pixelity will playtest its Evangelion XR game later this month

Pixelity, developer of an upcoming virtual reality game trilogy based on the classic anime Neon Genesis Evangelion, will host playtests later this month for fans looking to experience the series in a new way. The focus group tests, set to take place in Japan from December 19 to 21 and California on the same day, offer enthusiasts the chance to immerse themselves in the world of Evangelion.

The playtests, which are now open for registration, will be held at two separate locations, with an equal number of participants welcomed at each venue. Interested individuals can apply online today through Pixelity's X account.

The upcoming game trilogy, titled Evangelion: Cross Reflections, is expected to release in 2026 and will follow the original anime's timeline. The first installment will focus on episodes 1 to 11, offering fans a chance to experience key moments from the series. Although platform details have yet to be confirmed, Meta Quest headsets are seen as a likely candidate for the game's debut.

For those eager to dive into the world of Evangelion in a new way, these playtests offer an exclusive opportunity to provide feedback and shape the gaming experience before its official release.

I'm kinda hyped about this upcoming Evangelion VR game trilogy 🤯... but at the same time, I'm also low-key skeptical about how well they can replicate the original anime's atmosphere and emotional depth in a virtual reality setting. I mean, it's not easy to capture the complexity of the series' themes and characters in a medium that's still pretty new.

Still, I think playtesting is a great idea - it'll be awesome to see what fans like me are thinking about the game before it comes out! And hey, who knows, maybe they'll surprise us all and create something amazing. But if they do, can we please get some better headset options than Meta Quest? My friend's been complaining about the tracking issues with those things 🤦‍♂️...

omg, can you even imagine playing nge in VR? it sounds like so much fun! 🤯 i'm low-key hyped for this game trilogy, but high-key nervous that i'll get stuck on that one part with the giant robot and have to cry myself to sleep 😂. anywayz, i'm all about trying out these playtests since we all know how intense nge can get... 💥 just imagine being a pro at piloting that mecha and saving the world 🌎💪. but for real tho, who's gonna make it through the whole trilogy without losing their marbles? 🤣

man... i'm so hyped about this evangelion vr thingy 🤯! back in my day we only had anime on vhs and now they're making a whole game trilogy? it's gonna be sick, dude! i remember watching that show as a kid and it was so intense. the storyline is still so deep and complex, it'll be cool to see how they translate it into a vr experience. the fact that they're hosting playtests in japan and cali too shows they really care about what fans think 🎮👍

I'm really stoked about this, it's going to be awesome to see how they've brought Neon Genesis Evangelion into a VR setting 🤩. The idea of experiencing key moments from the series in a fully immersive environment is just incredible. I think it's interesting that they're leaving platform details unconfirmed, it could be either Meta Quest or something entirely new, maybe even an Oculus VR system. Either way, I'm hyped to see how this game trilogy is going to reflect on the original anime series. The playtests offer a fantastic chance for fans to provide feedback and influence the gaming experience before its release, it's almost like getting to be part of the development process 🎮

just saw this news & i'm FREAKING OUT!!! 🤯 gotta get my hands on that Meta Quest headset ASAP! been waiting for a decent Evangelion VR game for ages. can't believe they're doing playtests in Japan & Cali too, means more ppl get to experience it. anyone else hyped about the new trilogy? 😆

I'm low-key hyped about this! 🤩 The idea of experiencing Neon Genesis Evangelion in VR is giving me major chills 😱 can't wait to dive into the world of Evangelion and see how Pixelity brings it to life in a whole new way 🎮 interesting that they're already planning for feedback, might make the final product even better 💡

🤔 I'm not sure why they're having separate locations for the playtest... it just feels like a hassle to have to register twice 🙄. And can we talk about how Meta Quest headsets are going to be used in this game? I mean, aren't those things super expensive already? 💸 It's just a bit too much for me to get hyped about the playtest if I'm worried about breaking the bank 💸👀 Also, what's up with not confirming platform details yet? It feels like they're trying to build hype without giving us any real info 📺😒
