Red Bulls add Jorge Ruvalcaba for record $6.5 million transfer fee

New York Red Bulls Sign Jorge Ruvalcaba in Record $6.5M Transfer Deal

The New York Red Bulls have completed their overhaul of their attack by signing Liga MX winger Jorge Ruvalcaba to a reported $6.5 million transfer fee, marking the largest deal in club history.

Ruvalcaba, who joins the Red Bulls through the 2029-30 MLS season, brings dynamic and creative attacking skills to the table, having made 100 appearances for UNAM Pumas with 16 goals and nine assists to his name.

The signing comes as new head of sport Julian de Guzman and head coach Michael Bradley look to reimagine the club's offensive philosophy, valuing possession and playing wider with a greater emphasis on wingers. Ruvalcaba now joins Cade Cowell on the wing alongside 2025 leading scorer Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting.

Bradley had been keeping an eye on Ruvalcaba since taking over as head coach and praised the winger's ability to chase and press, giving everything he has for the team. "He's a guy that fits what we're trying to do," Bradley said of Ruvalcaba.

Ruvalcaba expressed excitement about joining the Red Bulls, citing the motivation that comes with playing alongside talented players like Choupo-Moting and Cowell. "Having these types of players by your side motivates you to want to learn and be better," he told amNewYork.

Ugh, can't believe they're breaking the bank over some winger ๐Ÿค‘. I mean, I love a good attacking lineup as much as the next guy, but come on $6.5 million? That's just crazy ๐Ÿ’ธ. I guess if Ruvalcaba brings in that kind of skill and creativity, it might be worth it. But what about the rest of the squad? Are they going to get left behind financially or are we expecting some kind of salary cap overhaul? ๐Ÿค”

omg i just found out about this transfer deal for jorge ruvalcaba and it's wild ๐Ÿคฏ he sounds like an amazing winger, can't wait to see him in action with the red bulls! I feel like this signing is gonna give the team a major boost, especially with new coach michael bradley at the helm. I love how they're trying to value possession and play wider now, it's so different from last season ๐Ÿ˜… i'm hoping we can finally get some consistent results and make a deep run in the playoffs... fingers crossed ๐Ÿคž

I gotta say, $6.5M is a pretty steep price to pay for a player with 100 appearances under his belt. Don't get me wrong, Ruvalcaba's skills are legit, but I think the Red Bulls could've gotten more bang for their buck if they'd gone after some of the other talented wingers out there. Still, gotta respect Bradley and Guzman's vision - it sounds like they're trying to create a really exciting, possession-based team. But is $6.5M worth breaking the bank? ๐Ÿค‘

omg, 6.5 million for Ruvalcaba is insane! ๐Ÿค‘ they're def trying to make a statement this transfer season! ๐Ÿ’ฅ the red bulls are gonna have some fire on their wings with choupo-moting & cowell already, and now ruvalcaba joins the party! ๐Ÿ”ฅ can't wait to see these guys in action ๐Ÿคฉ

I dont get why they spent so much money on just another winger ๐Ÿค”. I mean, i love a good goal as much as the next guy, but $6.5 million is just crazy talk ๐Ÿ’ธ. Cant they just buy some decent defenders instead? ๐Ÿ™„ And what's with all these new head coaches and coaches and who cares about that stuff ๐Ÿ™ƒ. Just give me a good 11 players on the pitch and we'll be golden โšฝ๏ธ. Ruvalcaba sounds like a solid player and all, but is it really worth breaking the bank for? ๐Ÿ˜

just saw this news ๐ŸŸ๏ธ๐Ÿ’ฅ ruvalcaba is gonna bring that fire ๐Ÿ”ฅ to the red bulls' attack! de guzman and bradley are on point with their tactics ๐Ÿ‘ 6.5 million for him? worth every penny ๐Ÿ’ธ๐Ÿ‘Œ choupo-moting, cowell, and now ruvalcaba - this team's gonna be unstoppable โšก๏ธ can't wait to see them in action ๐Ÿ“บ

๐Ÿค” I think its a good reminder that sometimes we need to take risks and invest in ourselves, just like the Red Bulls did with this transfer deal. $6.5 million might seem like a lot of money, but what's worth more is the growth and progress you can achieve by stepping out of your comfort zone ๐ŸŒŸ. Ruvalcaba's skills will likely be put to the test as he joins the team and learns to work with new teammates. It's all about being open to learning and embracing challenges โ€“ just like how motivation from others can drive us to improve ourselves ๐Ÿ’ช

The big bucks are flying around in MLS, but let's get real for a sec... $6.5M is crazy! What does it say about the state of our sports leagues when top players can command such figures? Is this just a sign of the times, or is it a symptom of a deeper issue? Are we valuing talent over teamwork and strategy? I mean, what's next? A $10M transfer fee for a goalkeeper who can maybe, just maybe, not drop a ball every 5 games.

omg can't believe it ๐Ÿคฏ! $6.5m is crazy! i think Ruvalcaba's signing is gonna shake things up for the Red Bulls big time ๐Ÿ”ฅ they're finally investing in their attack and it's about time ๐Ÿ™Œ i love that Bradley and De Guzman are looking to create a more possession-based game with those wingers on the wing, sounds like a game-changer! ๐Ÿ’ก

Lol what a joke $6.5m for a winger? In my day we called that price tag a "nice little bonus" ๐Ÿ˜‚. I mean I'm all for the kid bringing skills but come on Red Bulls, you're not exactly paying him to be a superhero here ๐Ÿฆธโ€โ™‚๏ธ. The whole thing just smells like a publicity stunt ๐Ÿ“ฃ to me.

I'm thinking, is $6.5M transfer fee really worth it for Ruvalcaba? I mean, the guy's got skills but he's not exactly a game-changer, right? ๐Ÿค” Is this just some fancy marketing ploy to attract more fans to the Red Bulls? And what's with all these new faces coming in โ€“ doesn't that mean they're just trying to shake things up for the sake of it? ๐Ÿ”„
