RFK Jr.’s new CDC deputy director prefers “natural immunity” over vaccines

CDC Names Anti-Vaccine Surgeon General as Deputy Director, Despite Critics' Fears.

In a move that has raised eyebrows among health experts and vaccine advocates, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has appointed Louisiana Surgeon General Ralph Abraham as its new principal deputy director. Abraham, who is known for his anti-vaccine views, was chosen by CDC Health Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr., who has become increasingly vocal about his opposition to vaccines.

Abraham's appointment has been met with criticism from some experts, who describe it as "dangerous" and "irresponsible." However, others argue that Abraham's experience running a public health system makes him a more viable candidate than other alternatives.

The CDC source told physician Jeremy Faust, who revealed the news in his newsletter Inside Medicine, that he had heard of worse names being considered for the position. While Abraham's views on vaccines are undoubtedly troubling, at least he has relevant experience in public health, unlike some of Kennedy's allies.

Under Abraham's leadership, the Louisiana health department waited months to inform residents about a deadly whooping cough outbreak, and he has also been a vocal advocate for natural immunity over vaccines. He told a news outlet earlier this year that he does not recommend COVID-19 vaccines because "I prefer natural immunity." In February, he ordered the health department to stop promoting mass vaccinations, including flu shots.

Abraham's record on vaccines is far from reassuring, but it's worth noting that some of his views may align more closely with those of the CDC than others. He is a big fan of using anti-malarial drugs like hydroxychloroquine and de-worming medications like ivermectin to treat COVID-19, despite studies showing their ineffectiveness in treating the virus.

In fact, Abraham was one of the top prescribers of ivermectin among physicians in Louisiana in 2021. His views on vaccines are closely aligned with those of Kennedy, who is working to reshape the CDC in his image. Last week, Kennedy directed the CDC to rewrite one of its webpages to falsely link vaccines to autism.

Overall, Abraham's appointment raises concerns about the direction of the CDC and the potential influence of anti-vaccine ideology within the agency. As the new principal deputy director, he will play a significant role in shaping the CDC's policies and priorities.

I'm so worried about this guy getting hired at the CDC 🤯. I mean, he's got some seriously concerning views on vaccines and public health. Like, what if he uses his experience to push anti-vaccine propaganda? 🚨 It would be a disaster for our community. And can we talk about how Robert F Kennedy Jr is basically pushing this guy's agenda at the CDC? 🤝 Not cool, RFK Jr! I just want to see some real expert advice on vaccines and public health from the CDC, not someone who thinks natural immunity is better than science-backed medicine 😷

omg can't believe what's going on at the cdc lol 🤯 i mean seriously, who does this guy think he is? appointing some anti-vax surgeron general as deputy dir? that's just crazy talk 🙄 anyway, i guess it's good that they're shaking things up around there... or so they say 😏 abraham's got some sketchy views on vaccines and stuff, but hey at least he knows a thing or two about public health from his days in louisiana. idk man, i just want to make sure the cdc is still doing its job without all the drama 🤔

🤔 This is a big deal! I mean, who wants an anti-vaxxer running parts of our public health system? 🚨 It just doesn't add up to me. Ralph Abraham has been saying some crazy stuff about vaccines, like they're not even effective, and that's super concerning. And now he's gonna be in charge of helping set the direction for the CDC? 🙄 I don't think so! What if his views start affecting policy decisions? We can't have our public health agency being run by someone who doesn't believe in vaccines. That's just basic common sense... or should I say, basic science? 🧬

OMG u guys I just read this crazy news about Ralph Abraham being appointed by Robert F Kennedy Jr as the new principal deputy dir at the CDC 🤯 I mean I'm not surprised cuz Kennedy is like super vocal about his anti-vaccine views but still it's kinda scary that they're actually putting someone with those views in a position of power 💉 like what if he tries to change all the vaccine protocols or something? 🚨 anyway I did some research on him and it turns out he's got some pretty sketchy records when it comes to public health in Louisiana 🤔 like the state waited months to inform people about a whooping cough outbreak and now he's all about natural immunity over vaccines 🙅‍♂️ honestly I'm just really worried about what this means for vaccine policy in general 🤕 has anyone else seen this news? 💬

I'm not sure if this is a good idea, tbh 🤔. I mean, Ralph Abraham has been pretty vocal about his anti-vax views, which kinda gives me pause. I get that he's got experience running a public health system, but shouldn't we be looking for someone who's more... you know, pro-vaccine? 😒 Like, just considering the potential risks and benefits of vaccines is a basic skill in public health, right?

And what's up with Robert Kennedy Jr. being all about promoting this anti-vax agenda? 🤷‍♂️ I mean, I get that he might think he's doing what's best for public health, but sometimes you just have to trust the science and not your personal feelings on it.

I'm also kinda concerned about how Abraham's views might influence the CDC's policies. Like, we don't need some anti-vax ideology being shoved down our throats just because someone in charge thinks it's a good idea 🙅‍♂️. I hope he knows that his job is to make informed decisions based on science, not to promote his own agenda.

But hey, I guess only time will tell how this plays out 💔.

I'm low-key worried about this move, fam 🤔. I get that the guy has experience running a public health system, but his views on vaccines are straight up concerning 💉. I mean, who wants to promote mass vaccinations when you think natural immunity is the way to go? 🙅‍♂️ The fact that he was one of the top prescribers of ivermectin in Louisiana last year doesn't exactly fill me with confidence about his judgment 💊.

And can we talk about Robert F. Kennedy Jr.'s role in all this? I'm not sure if he's trying to set up a power struggle within the CDC, but it feels like a bad move to me 🤷‍♂️. The dude has been vocal about his anti-vaccine views for years, and now he gets to appoint someone who shares those views to a key position? That doesn't sit well with me 😒.

I'm not saying Abraham is the worst person ever or anything, but I do think this move could have some major implications for public health policies 🤯. What do you guys think about this development? Should we be worried? 🤔

🤔 I'm still thinking about how this is going to affect the CDC's work on vaccines 🧬. I mean, it's one thing for Robert F. Kennedy Jr. to have his own opinions, but it's another for someone with Ralph Abraham's views to be in charge of a major health organization 🚨. Don't get me wrong, he does have experience running the Louisiana health department, but has he actually seen the impact that vaccines can make? I'm not convinced 🤷‍♂️. And what about all those cases where people got sick because they didn't get vaccinated? Wasn't his wait to inform residents about the whooping cough outbreak in Louisiana a major problem? 😬. I guess only time will tell if he's going to be more of a liability than an asset 🕰️.

I'm not sure what's more concerning - the fact that Ralph Abraham is now in charge of advising on vaccine policies at the CDC or that Robert Kennedy Jr. is pushing for his anti-vaccine views to take over 🤔. I mean, it's one thing to have a healthy debate about vaccination, but when you're talking about rewriting webpages to spread misinformation, that's just not okay 🚫.

Abraham's track record on vaccines isn't exactly reassuring either - waiting months to inform residents about a deadly whooping cough outbreak? Yeah, no thanks 💉. And promoting natural immunity over vaccines? I get it, some people prefer the idea of getting their health from Mother Nature, but we've got science and data on our side 🌟.

It's also worth noting that the CDC has a responsibility to protect public health, and if Abraham's views are going to influence policy, that's just not good enough for me 😐. I hope Jeremy Faust is keeping an eye on this one 👀...

I'm worried about this new appointment 🤔. I mean, you've got someone with a history of being super against vaccines taking on a major role at the CDC, which is basically like having a fire chief who's never dealt with fires before 😱. It doesn't seem like the best fit for someone as important as the principal deputy director. Plus, there's this whole thing about Robert F. Kennedy Jr. having his own agenda and not being transparent about it... that's pretty sketchy 🚫. I just hope they can keep things in check and make some informed decisions without letting personal views get in the way 💡. It'll be interesting to see how this all plays out ⏰.

😒 gotta wonder what the CDC is thinkin', appointin' someone with views like Abrahams to the Deputy Director spot 🤔. I mean, I get it, experience counts, but can't they find someone w/ a more... balanced view on vaccines? 💉😕

I'M SO CONCERNED ABOUT THIS APPOINTMENT!!! 🚨🤕 THE CDC IS GETTING INTO SOME TOXIC TERRAIN WITH RALPH ABRAHAM AT THE HELM! 😷 HE'S GOT A HISTORY OF DELAYING LIFE-SAVING VACCINE CAMPAIGNS AND PUSHING PSEUDOSCIENCE TREATMENTS LIKE HYDROXYCHLOROQUININE. IT'S CHILLING TO THINK ABOUT HOW THIS COULD Impact PUBLIC HEALTH POLICIES!!! 🤯

🤔 i'm not sure why they need someone with a track record of being super against vaccines to be in charge of public health... like, don't get me wrong, experience is important and all, but shouldn't that come with, you know, actual expertise? 🙄 anyway, hopefully Ralph Abraham's presence will bring some much-needed "fresh air" (read: skepticism) to the CDC. 💨

"Those who do not learn from history are doomed to repeat it." 📚
The appointment of Ralph Abraham as CDC's Deputy Director is causing quite a stir among health experts and vaccine advocates. On one hand, his experience running a public health system could be beneficial. But on the other hand, his anti-vaccine views raise concerns about the direction of the CDC.

It's like they say: "Absolute power corrupts absolutely." 🤯 The fact that he was chosen by Robert F. Kennedy Jr., who has become increasingly vocal about his opposition to vaccines, is also a red flag.

We should be careful not to put the cart before the horse here. Let's see how Abraham performs in his new role and whether his views will shape the CDC's policies or if they'll have a change of heart. 🤔 After all, "The best way to predict your future is to create it." 💪

🤔 this is straight outta a Trump-Romney primary 🗡️, who needs experience running a public health system when you've got anti-vaxx views that are gonna polarize the nation like nothing else? 😳 I'm all for giving Ralph Abraham a shot (pun intended), but have we considered the optics of having an anti-vaxx surgeon general on our side? 🤦‍♂️ I mean, Kennedy's at it again, trying to rewrite science and history to fit his narrative. It's like he's playing the role of Nixon's "Enemies List" guy, minus the paranoia 😒 what's next, rewriting the CDC's own vaccine guidelines to say that vaccines don't work? 🤝

I'm worried sick about this one 🤕. I mean, you're talking about someone who's anti-vaccine and doesn't think vaccines are necessary to protect people from getting sick or dying from preventable diseases. What kind of message does that send? It's like they're saying it's okay to just rely on "natural immunity" instead of taking care of ourselves.

I'm not surprised, though. This guy Ralph Abraham seems like a perfect example of how not to run a public health system. He's made some really questionable decisions in the past, like waiting months to tell people about a deadly whooping cough outbreak. That's just reckless.

And what really gets me is that he's got friends like Robert F. Kennedy Jr., who's basically a anti-vaxxer himself. It's like they're both part of this toxic little bubble where vaccines are seen as the enemy or something.

I hope people start speaking out about this soon, because it's not okay to undermine public health like this. We need folks in charge who care about keeping us safe and healthy, not who think we can just rely on "natural" solutions instead of science-based medicine 🙅‍♂️

omg i just saw this and my mind is blown 🤯! so the cdc just appointed an anti-vaxxer as deputy dir?? that's literally terrifying 😱 i mean i get it, they needed someone with experience but come on, ralph abraham's views are straight outta a conspiracy theory 🚫 he thinks natural immunity is better than vaccines? what about all those people who got sick and died because of preventable diseases? 🤕 that's just irresponsible imho. and now the cdc is gonna be shaped by his ideology? 😩 i hope they have some backup plans in place or we're in for a world of hurt 🌪️

omg 😱 i cant even right now lol!! Ralph Abraham as the new principal deputy dir at CDC is like a nightmare come true 🤯 i mean whats next?? appointing conspiracy theorists to run the FDA or something 🚫?! 🙅‍♂️ abraham's anti-vax views are super concerning and his record on vaccines is like woah... waitin months to inform residents about a whooping cough outbreak? 🤢 what kinda public health system does that even represent?! 😳 i feel so bad for the people of louisiana who have to deal with this guy in charge 👎
